Just bought my Alex last week.. He's now adorable with me and hyperactive @ night sleep.gif Here some Alex's pic

(Sorry for the blurry, Im using my hp camera)

Alex's favourite part to play climb.. haha.. but its actually his hiding place laugh.gif

Gonna buy sand bath for Alex, one female for breed and a new cage for seperate..  thumbup.gif

I love him soo much  wub.gif
*
Sorry to say but that's ain't heaven for Alex, that cage is waaayyyy too small for syrian
Syrian breed need 2feet tank, urs obviously not even 1.5feet

QUOTE(kollin123 @ Feb 7 2010, 01:37 AM)
Haha.. thnx..
just seperate the male right before the baby born? easy one..
*
Easy eh? Don't be overconfident buddy wink.gif
U should only put them together to mate and separate right away after it's done imo
Syrian are solitary animal, they enjoy being alone than to share its tank with others
(Plus its in a small cage in ur case)

QUOTE(kollin123 @ Feb 7 2010, 01:43 AM)
maybe i gonna sell them when they grow up.. i have no choice.. sleep.gif no money to spend..  sad.gif
*
If no money dun ever bother to breed them, what's the point?
For fun? To let them have a happy family? What's ur reason breeding them?

Sorry to sound harsh

Dun u think we need2 be harsh sometimes eh? wink.gif
Yes, i did breed mealworm before hmm...
Basically u just need a lot of mealies, put them on organic oats substrate and once a while feed some kibbles for protein
Wait till they turn pupae and separate it from the mealworm in a container with good ventilation
Wait for them to turn beetles and throw all of the beetle in a setup similiar to the mealworms setup and let them do the job
But the newborn are really very tiny and very hard to spot with naked eyes so u ll need to check it out real throughly after around 2months

Separate all the beetle from the container to a new one after around 1.5months

Haha..the cage i bought about rm68 >_< cant afford more =|
btw.. the syrian is not the big one right?? i guess its still ok for me..

---

Hmm.. guess i can do it..  nod.gif

---

Uhh.. =_= guess wanna change to Dwarf leh..
If i breed syrian need more money to spend..  rclxub.gif
*
Syrian is the big one, exactly the one u have there
And what for wanna change to dwarf?
Why wan2 breed? Answer me
Dont be a contributor to irresponsible breeding, they dont enjoy sex like us do, there is absolutely no need to breed them if u does not have a good reason to do so
And, a 2feet guppy tank cost less than RM50, what says u?

Oh ya, i tot u said u love alex very much? Now said wan2 change to dwarf? I misheard u? hmm.gif

QUOTE(atok194 @ Feb 7 2010, 02:06 AM)
that means...we need 3 tanks?
1 for larvae.
1 for pupae.
1 for beetle.
recycling method..does the maintainence cost high?
if u want dwarf for breeding.u also need more tank.as for i,i got 5 tank.4 plastic guppy 1.5 feet tank and 2 feet tank.they also sometimes fight out from the blue.just like the front page said..
*
3 tupperware to be exact, i use microwave container and they work great
Maintanence fees depend on how many mealworms u have la, basically the more u have the faster they eat up all the oats...
Should be less than 2 pack of oats in a month, each pack cost me around RM6 last time

U mean for hammy? The recommend serving quantity is 4 mealies per day
Anw, criix and roach nutritious ratio is better than mealies, u might wanna reconsider wink.gif

LOL doh.gif
Ryo, I agree that sometimes we really need to be harsh, but there are times when you should be attentive as well, I suspect something horrible might be happening to 'Alex' soon, or maybe he will be stuck there for good. We share knowledge here, not school them to newbies, we all were there once, so unless they are still ignorant after getting advice from us, then yes, go ahead and be harsh to them.

Just feel pity to that person la, just a few post now disappear d. Chill la!

Added on February 8, 2010, 3:30 pm
Well, maybe its the age catching in already, wish you all the best, and its just what I THINK, not something I KNOW or EXP, so best wait till others to have their say whistling.gif
*
Wat do u mean something horrible going to happen?
Well, im juz being myself and i dun think im harsh compare to those senior around my time
Plus he doesnt sound serios in taking advice from his second post
It just depend on how u accept my reply, i shoot atok the same way as well but he can accept it also wut?
Tats my way la, if dun like it just ignore, no harsh feeling

I would suggest silicon glue, usually its written as none toxic and i read and experienced before where the hamster will just chew on it a bit but wont swallow it if exposured to them so no harm there wink.gif

QUOTE(yellow.hunter @ May 6 2010, 11:41 PM)
Hey guys.
My hamster is about 2 years old now.
Brought him to the vet about few months ago & d doc said my hamster might be diagnosed with cancer as there was a small pinkish lump on the tummy. Gave him medication & all but it didnt seem to helped.
Now, the lump on the tummy has subside, but another bigger lump was found on his back. Often see my hamster twist his back to scratch it.
He's not as fluffy as before as some parts seem bald when he sleeps on his back.
His appetite is still good. But seeing the red lump on his back makes my heart ache.

The doc thinks surgery might not be helpful due to my hamster's age & there are chances of the lump spreading to another area after removing the initial one.

What else can be done?  sad.gif
*
Sound exactly like my rat, she have her 1st lump removed on dec but now she have a new lump and its getting bigger!
She is nearing old age to undergo surgery but i ll see wat doctor will say tomorrow
Anw my opinion is, nothing u can do....

I remember when I was young, I use to have couple of them. But now, most pet shop only have Syrian - long hair and dwarf hamster - which I find them fierce & noisy.

Please kindly let me know, I would like my daughter to keep as her pet.
*
FYI the pic u showed is a syrian hamster, they are the same as those long hair syrian u saw in petshop
No hamster are born tame, u always need to tame it urself nod.gif
