Disappointed with the returns of ASM as it underperforms compare with KLCI which moves > 15% and so much less than ASB's 8.75% eventhough they have the same investment structure. But then it is still better than FD for the same level of risk.
*
I am very disappointed too.. I thought it will declare at least 7%, but only 6.38%..

With the increase in KLCI, the difference is so big..

Because their performance benchmark is based on the interest rates.. If the interest rates goes up, their performance benchmark goes up, hence they have to deliver better results..

QUOTE(MGM @ May 24 2011, 10:30 PM)
The 3 billion units (quota for Chinese) of the newest fund, AS1M took > 6 months to be fully taken up when launched on AUG2009. It wasn't well accepted like the other PNB funds due to some negative comments by some " experts".
For those who read and understand the prospectus, it was a golden opportunity to grab as many units as you can. Except for the first few days, you dont have to queue to buy.
*
Haha.. that time most of the chinese only think that the government need money.. common sense la, its a unit trust, its investing in equities, but how many chinese think that way?

Thats why today, most of the chinese 'hitting their chest' saying how regretted they are.. Oops too late..

I guess PNB should open the balance units to the lower income group people..

Maybe eligibility based on the income range of RM2,000 and below, with evidence of EPF.. Haha...

So you mean you understand the prospectus very well??

By the way, I just want to ask how long you guys intend to keep your it in any of the AS1M, ASB, ASW2020 etc.. Forever?
Isn't some of you guys really treat this fund as alternative to FD? I just curious and want to know some of people personal opinion here.
*
Its better to keep it forever, especially for the chinese like me.. Seldom have the chance to bank in into the account.. I have been using it as my passive income generator since the risk is minimized and the returns are consistent..

Its a good fund to be use as retirement fund.. I am not going to put any cent in the FD, the returns are just too cute..

Is ASB better or ASN better ? Can anyone explain to me in a nutshell regarding the differences in ASB vs ASN.
*
If i am a bumi, i will certainly go for ASB.. The risk are low, there is no sales charge, and the returns are consistent as well.. It offers peace of mind since it is fixed price fund..

any PNB funds still available for chinese to invest in?
Haha. I doubt there is any.

Now all the fixed price unit trusts by PNB were sold out for the chinese quota..

Hm.. next time if there is any new launching of fixed price unit trusts units, many chinese will bring a big bag of cash to bank-in.. lol...

Right now, even if the PNB launches the new type of fixed price fund, i will still believe in their performance. Many have regretted on the Amanah Saham 1Malaysia for their early perception. Now its fully subscribed.. smile.gif

I'm sorry too to say that : the Chinese then should put in MORE effort to know about other modes of investments and other instruments, and NOT to queue up at 4.30am in the morning to buy PNB funds.

This would be another way to look at things. Why depend solely on PNB only ? ...please wake up, the Chinese of Malaysia... mad.gif
*
Well, other investments modes are like equities via stock market or unit trusts, but with the risk involved, not many people would put their hard earned money in such risk..

For instance, for some people who could save a bit for investments, we cannot expect them to take the risk.. They rather be conservative then to put it in high risk although the returns are high..

Chinese queue up to buy ASM/ASW/ASIM, not because they are rich, it is because they have only limited opportunity for them to invest. These are their hard earn money. Chinese can wake up as early as 4.00am to do hawker business. They are one of most hardworking races in the world. But, sometimes, it give a wrong impression to other races that Chinese is rich so they need to queue up to buy the fund. I hope the other races can understand this situation. wink.gif
*
Yape, the most happening scenario...

Chinese quota (Sometime during and after the launching of new units)

Investor: I want to bank in RM10,000 in my ASM..
Teller: Sorry, sold out for Chinese quota, try again next time..
Investor: Still have to wait for next launching of additional units ah? Haiz, i spent my time queuing for nothing..
Teller: Sorry about that..

Bumiputera quota (During and after launching)

Investor: I want to bank in RM10,000 in my ASB..
Teller: Okay, done. Here is your slip..
Investor: Thanks..

At the end; Chinese have to wait, RM10,000 still kept in FD especially if the Chinese is a conservative investor..

Not forgetting queuing in early morning just to buy the amanah saham.... last time came out few years back (not as1m), mostly chinese people started to come to asnb offices by 4.30am drool.gif  By 7am already 200 people there, when the asnb office open around 8am the people waiting already so long rclxub.gif
*
Well, RM20,000 could earn RM1,200 per year if the interest is 6% per year.. What to say how much it can earn after long term due to compounded interest..

Peace of mind some more.. Lol..

You may want to consider for ASN3 if you can stomach the fluctuation. I made 100% as per yesterday NAV in 10 years time. Got back my capital + 100% profit.

But, I put little money in there.  cry.gif  Just like everyone here prefer ASM/ASW2020/AS1M.  wink.gif

I agree... As long as you can absorb the risk of fluctuations of ASN3, it is also a good investment vehicle.. rolleyes.gif

Well, after a check to the office there, the officer said the person putting in this link could be the person having Bumiputera parents.

Or else, it is quite impossible for the office to allow for opening account of ASB for the chinese..

Under Pg 26 of the ASM Laporan Tahunan berakhir 31 Mac 2011, there is a title : 7.Cukai. The following is written on the first paragraph :-

Unit Amanah telah diberikan pengecualian cukai daripada .....(etc), (etc)......... dari tahun taksiran 2006 hingga 2016.

Does the above mean that there will be taxes on dividends imposed from 2016 onwards, or will this 'pengecualian' be renewed on 2016 ?

PNB funds all these while are tax exempted, so if they pay 6.5%p.a, the effective gross rate is actually around 7%, if compare to market funds return.

In fact, mutual funds distribution shd not be taxed, as when the invested shares, say Sime Darby, Maybank declared their income, it has been taxed once, b4 distributing to the fund managers, so when the fund managers declare tax to the fund investors, it shd not be taxed again
*
Yape, I agree with you.. Given the return is actually below the effective gross rate, it is logical that they will continue to be tax exempted over the long term.

Added again that, in my opinion, the government is the largest stakeholder for PNB.. The government will ensure those stakeholders (majority of investors) are well taken care of in terms of the taxation..

Are u sure the one highlighted in red?

If so, it also means that PNB is belong to gomen and the gomen has the greatest power to determine where the money should invest.

In other words, PNB is not an independent party to determine the best portfolio in its  investment. No?
*
Well, i should say should be many investments by the government servants involved, especially the bumiputeras.. Believe me, i have my own reason to believe in it.. smile.gif
