yeah i know you asked with good concern and intention
we can discuss about this if i asked you which would be the best way to invest money
you are inside the PNB funds thread and we are talking about getting AS1M (which means decision has already been made)
if i had asked you about comparing, then of course i could debunk your statements wrong anytime based on my needs but then that is beyond the purpose of this thread.

to me ASW2020/AS1M is worth getting stuck in the jam, paying for parking and driving in the hot sun and waiting at the counter IF there are units available.
too bad mine maxed out already. so wanna help friends.
*
ok noted, my mistake. doh.gif

for AS1M, if u cant buy the available units. make complaint to PNB.

i ask here because there are many in this thread who are in the know or working for these agent themselves
this should save my indian friends from a trip all the way to kaunter utama at PNB
plus this is not a daily volatility as units are sold and bought, but of a case where a lot of allocations still available when we last checked
likewise i would also be happy to share any news on availability

if you do not have such information, please do not ask us to check with agent banks
agent banks, including maybank's branch managers are known to lie about the availability to prevent funds from my their accounts being withdrawn to fund PNB accounts. one of the them whom i could quote for example would be the branch manager for maybank cyberjaya.
*
then u can ask PNB by calling their hotline. I doubt anyone here has more up-to-date info than PNB.

just came back from kaunter utama after lunch,
i went there to syiok sendiri since i don't have anything to top up

i went there with my indian and singh friends and both of them could topup 20k and 120k each. according to the staff there, it is hard to check, sometimes there are indian/chinese units left and sometimes not. for chinese don't need to try the fella said, waste of petrol money since people are chasing it like anything.'

the aunty also shared with us that last week got one indian uncle tried to open AS1M for 1M and he got rejected.

for malay quota for AS1M anyday anytime got. because they tend to go for ASN and ASB, huge number of shares left.

i am not sure about the new issues for chinese but the existing units for chinese are very highly sought after
it was fully subscribed for more than a year and i heard there was about 5 million free units last week
it should be fully taken up by now

if you are chinese, either get an extremely small value bank draft such as 10k and try to take number at ASNB office and try luck every morning
or if you are a private banking customer keep the money in your account and ask your banker to try at an agent bank

over the counter thru agents such as maybank are all BULLSHIT and all bank managers are especially trained to fake system down and units not available.
they will not even try because the success rate is about 0.x %
plus it is in their best interest to make you not empty your FD and savings from the bank accounts you have with them.

Hi, I've been reading up on some posts contributed here. Fresh grad and new to personal financing and would be glad if someone could advice me on the possible 'best' way to place some of my savings in AS1M. smile.gif

Since I'm working from 8 to 5:30 pm everyday, how should people like me (non-bumi) go about this? Wanted to enquire within banks but some posts did mention about how branch managers do not divulge availability of units even though it is still up for grabs. Rather disheartening to know! (Seems like it's hassle for non-bumi application)

Looks like it's best to just take one-day leave and try to get it sorted out within the day, even if it means going up and down banks, offices and all ;/ Yikes.

Thank you all for the information. Gladly appreciate it! smile.gif

do not generalize!
maybank is a good bank in general, they have many good services
if they are bullshit, do not use maybank close all your accounts with them brows.gif

however having said that, i was highlighting a particular situation where maybank's ASNB agent services are concerned or rather a certain branch
if you say the branch manager in cyberjaya branch is not qualified enough to be a branch manager, i agree
if you say the branch manager is purtrajaya should be given 2 weeks training to under the maybank's "own product" i agree

go up and down? i do this every month.
cause at the place i try, maybank and asnb is only 200 meters away
you can join me if you want drool.gif

there is no transparency for obvious reasons
if not all the stock aunties will sure cheong the units already
and phone calls does not work contrary to some people's advise here
and going to the counter asking "ada tak?" also does not work because the revised system does not allow enquiry.
do not waste your time.
the only way to try is to bring the cash or your 50K bank draft and perform a try to put in transaction.
but bear in mind that in case "tak ada" you will need to spend even more money to cash back your bank draft + the hassle.

Hey aeronic, haha, well could relate to what you're saying. Lol. Transparency huh. Tsk tsk.

Hmm, the thing is the ASB HQ is in Jalan Tun Razak, but my workplace is in Shah Alam area. -__- how to go up and down so often right. And since most people say it's kinda useless to apply through bank agents hmm.. I do not have an account yet. Would try to open one at Maybank. Registering for an account though Maybank is fine right? haha. If that also they don't layan, then...meh. Double whammy.

What do you suggest Aeronic? Owh thank you for your responses! smile.gif

To open an account not too much of a hassle right? Perhaps I'll just go to the nearest Maybank to firstly sign up for an account. Thanks though!

To calculate a balanced portfolio, is ASM, WAWASAN etc consider as bonds? Or just savings? Bonds/Equity % I meant.

there is no fund size increase annoucement for AS1M. Many nexclusive on bumi customers stand by in the banks (with the help of bank staffs) to deposit money into AS1M as and when there is available units. There is no way that can have 500 mil chinese quota available at time.

No. Bond is bond, equity is equity.
Both bond and equity funds price are subject to price fluctuation.

PNB's funds are unique, it alocates 50% - 90% in equity, and the fund price is fixed at RM1. The return is around 6-7% p.a. regardless bad or good time.

During the good time, extra return will be carried forward. During bad time the brought forward return will be used to pay out so that the annual return could be kept in the range of 6-7%, it is theoritically right. But there is lack of transparency on how much was the accumulated profit were brought forward.
