LOL, I remember this ad. I remember watching it a couple of times on TV while watching cartoons on TV1 at 7pm on Saturdays. I don't know why they have to use hardcore BBers to model their insecticide ads, and not a celebrity like a singer/actor.

Because the image of Malik Noor, a strong man, bashing up mosquitoes looked way more impressive than the image of Ziana Zain pricking her fingers when attempting to kill the mosquitoes.

Finally broke the 100kg mark for deadlift. Pulled 102kg for 1RM today!  rclxm9.gif

My back seems to be progressing quite decently in terms of thickness and a bit of detail. Wish I could say the same for my front.  doh.gif

ez / curly bar got la that length...oly where got...but then, single-handed DL is dangerous bro...should not do it regularly...
*
I must ask, why is it dangerous?
The mechanics of a single-arm deadlift is slightly different, true, but as long as the basics are kept tight, I see minimal problems with doing 1 arm deadlifts.
The imbalanced nature of a single arm deadlift, also makes it an amazingly good stability exercise and will tax the cross sectional build of your core which is great.

maybe it is not to you...normal deadlifts have a negative connotation because if not done properly it can lead to injury. However, if any exercise is done without the proper attention to technique, injury is also inevitable...let alone single arm...

am just giving advice...JonYeap wasn't training for PL...
*
People that train for powerlifting, barely if ever use single-arm deadlifts. They may use single limb leg work to decrease the load on their spine while increasing work load on the legs.

Single arm work, is mostly used for athletes that require a lot of unilateral movement such as speed skaters, discus throwers, javelin throwers, sprinters. They require the single arm coordination to be able to throw their power from the base (legs) to the final extension (arm)

Deadlifts to any healthy individual should usually not be dangerous, unless a form breakdown on essential portions of the body happen (eg:lumbar)

On that note, I'm thinking about bringing a TRXsuspension system since there's a lot of people out there that want to workout but don't have a gym or can't find time to go. What do you guys think about it? Think it'll sell?

really. izzit good or not?
*
Yeah I train twice a day. It's good in the sense it allows me to peak my testosterone level twice in a day, instead of having one session where I have to rush. Also it allows me to stay fresher provided I have enough sleep. I've not heard of this method being used to build muscle though. I'd imagine it be counter-productive to muscle growth, as muscles require between 24-48 hours of rest to grow and have sufficient protein and calories. Training twice a day, would require you to probably move beyond 5000 calories a day for growth. Even that I'm not sure if you can recover in time because of the longer period of time required between for synthesis.
I do this because my only concern is getting stronger and faster. Moving fresh and fast, allows my muscles to be very explosive and ensures I have a good bulk of fast twitch muscle fibers. Also I give sports massages and I know how to work with my trigger points and tightness as well as increase blood flow, so in that sense, I'm able to incorporate this.

One day I think I wanna get my test levels checked. Wonder how many mmols/g I have

I think you'll sell more power racks. Those available at Fitness Concept are overfeatured and therefore too expensive.
*
I'll try seeing if my friend can get it cheaper from the USA. Just met him. He goes between US and Singapore monthly. If he can get it for cheaper, I'll spread the savings to the fine fellows here. Actually, I was just thinking about TRX. Can get other stuff such as gymnastic rings and bands too.

QUOTE(iamyuanwu @ Aug 18 2009, 11:53 PM)
WOAH! 150USD!!

How about the USA? LOL!
http://www.bwculture.net/Universal_Strengt...ratus_p/usa.htm
I assume hanging the legs off it might be a little more uncomfortable compared to the TRX.

And I wonder if you could order something similar in China. I mean, it's not exactly something that really requires a lot of technology to manufacture. As a poor Msian, I feel RM500+ for strap is a little expensive. cry.gif

Or perhaps gymnastic rings too?
*
Honestly speaking, I used to think the TRX was crap. I mean, rings are better in almost every way. There was however, one small difference. The TRX was useful for those that NEEDED the convenience and portability. One TRX+bands+chains=can workout anywhere.

Oh and I still kicked TRX'S ass. tongue.gif Duno lah....see maybe get something else lah from US like training DVD'S or training texts. I'm thinking about getting some books by Tudor Bompa and Paul Chek (Yeah I hate him, but I can still learn frm him)

Does anybody want to experiment with the swiss ball? It sounds like if you can overload those stabilizers, you may be able to get some way in strength.

Anybody?

Care to elaborate on that one bro?

Am curious.
*
I'm wondering, if the Swiss ball can overload your stabilizers, perhaps you can get stronger by switching a part of your bench workout, to dumbbell benches on a Swiss ball. I've seen Joe DeFranco do it and put his athletes to it. They also like to use chains to act as overloading agents, though I'm not sure anybody on this forum needs this yet.

Basically, they will choose one bench exercise (pin benches for example) Work to a max according to the Prilepin's table. Then they move to exercises that require the stabilizers to fry, and the Swiss ball bench is one of them. Sometimes they change to kettlebells and chains as well. Kettlebells shake like crazy when put on a barbell. If you don't watch it properly, you may be benching just 40KG but the bar can fall and turn your teeth out.

It's worth a try, if you can keep the ego out and progress gradually from lighter to heavier dumbbells on the swiss ball.

The guy who did that is the previous manager/owner of Celebrity fitness,Jamie is his name.

Serious bodybuilder with an awesome body, now no longer in Malaysia tho,he is American.

Used to pump the 100 pounders as if it was nothing,i spotted him for barbell bench until 250kgs.

I might give the Swiss ball bench a serious effort  if i see some progress in 3 more weeks.
*
Do keep me updated with the progress.
I tried doing push-ups on a swiss ball before. Silliest thing ever. I kept falling on the ball.

I didn't even know you posted anything. I was looking for the video for the kettlebell bench when you posted your reply, so I didn't even see your reply. Rest assured, I was more concerned about other more important things.

(you know, weight class athletes go sauna and sweat themselves to reduce weight for the weight in)

All the other numbers are good, actually.  Pretty strange, considering my diet.

I think Malaysians have a Pavlovian response whenever they see the words "Ramly burger" written anywhere.

I read a study, but as usual lah...I never bother to bookmark it. There was a doctor that believed that HDL/LDL/saturated fat is all good stuff. He says that cholesterol is just running in your body and when there's a problem, cholesterol will fix it.

AH! FOUND IT!
http://westonaprice.org/moderndiseases/benefits_cholest.html

And then, there's another study (which I can't access because I don't have the acc password/username) about cholesterol, fat and protein. It has very solid proof (Test subject of 150 ppl. 86 ppl managed to finish the test) that may ruin the agriculture industry. It seems, we humans really do not need...... rice! We can basically live very well off simple meat and fruits. That bodes great for me, because I can't stand rice. It leaves me bloated.

If you are able to access the site, please let me have a full copy of the journal article for reading purposes . 150 samples and 86 of them made through isn't that convincing but then again, running through the report might prove me wrong.
*
86 samples. I think that's good enough for me. The dropout rate is quite high, but I think it's because the study was run in US, where it's rather hard for them to stick to a proper diet for a long time. I'd like to see the study done in Europe though. That ought to have solid consistent entries.

You have nice looking legs. Now go squat 6 plates.
Relax. You know already that your physique will probably make it into the Abercrombie and Fitch cover.
Wait I show you my body later. Looks like a cross between a hippo and a large stork.

Since everybody has a progress picture to post, I've a progress video.
Six sets of 3 at 80KG snatches. This is m final set. Looks pretty easy eh?

Come on...come on. Don't be selfish with your constructive criticisms now.

Btw pizzaboy, any ingenious hamstring exercises I could do at home? Other than the ham glute raise. Can't seem to find a proper thing to hold me down.

30M sprints

Car/sled pulls

Still legged deadlifts

Broad jumps

Triple jump

Bulgarian split squats

GHR proper thing to hold you down
