QUOTE(pizzaboy @ Aug 18 2009, 05:20 PM) People that train for powerlifting, barely if ever use single-arm deadlifts. They may use single limb leg work to decrease the load on their spine while increasing work load on the legs. WOAH! 150USD!!Single arm work, is mostly used for athletes that require a lot of unilateral movement such as speed skaters, discus throwers, javelin throwers, sprinters. They require the single arm coordination to be able to throw their power from the base (legs) to the final extension (arm) Deadlifts to any healthy individual should usually not be dangerous, unless a form breakdown on essential portions of the body happen (eg:lumbar) On that note, I'm thinking about bringing a TRXsuspension system since there's a lot of people out there that want to workout but don't have a gym or can't find time to go. What do you guys think about it? Think it'll sell? How about the USA? LOL! http://www.bwculture.net/Universal_Strengt...ratus_p/usa.htm I assume hanging the legs off it might be a little more uncomfortable compared to the TRX. And I wonder if you could order something similar in China. I mean, it's not exactly something that really requires a lot of technology to manufacture. As a poor Msian, I feel RM500+ for strap is a little expensive. Or perhaps gymnastic rings too? |

I don't know read from where, a strength coach once said that he can smell the trans fat oozing throught the pores of athletes who are coming for the weigh-in.
(you know, weight class athletes go sauna and sweat themselves to reduce weight for the weight in) |

QUOTE(pizzaboy @ Sep 3 2009, 01:17 PM) I read a study, but as usual lah...I never bother to bookmark it. There was a doctor that believed that HDL/LDL/saturated fat is all good stuff. He says that cholesterol is just running in your body and when there's a problem, cholesterol will fix it. Errr... it's not that surprising actually. Rice (and wheat) simply happens to be a great source of energy, and thus cultivated.AH! FOUND IT! http://westonaprice.org/moderndiseases/benefits_cholest.html And then, there's another study (which I can't access because I don't have the acc password/username) about cholesterol, fat and protein. It has very solid proof (Test subject of 150 ppl. 86 ppl managed to finish the test) that may ruin the agriculture industry. It seems, we humans really do not need...... rice! We can basically live very well off simple meat and fruits. That bodes great for me, because I can't stand rice. It leaves me bloated. I attended a 7th Day Adventist church seminar a looooonng time ago (some friend trying to convert me. LOL!). One points they kept hammering to their members is good nutrition through primitive diet. Primitive as in: Fruits & only fruits. Even vegetables are not considered the main source of food for humans. Of course, that's not possible for most. So it is only an ideal diet. They then suggested this: Fruits, vege and Jesus bread. (OK, OK! I made this name up because they were referring to the type of bread made during Jesus's time. Not the white bread we have now, but the raw, hard, brown bread 2000 years ago.) =) Think about fruit fasting, if some dude can live with just eating fruits for a week and become healthier... I'm sure we could eat fruits only for all our lives with no problem. Well, perhaps protein might be a bit of a problem in the long term. |

QUOTE(braindead_fr3ak @ Sep 14 2009, 05:24 PM) » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Your 8x8 squats is quite a lot of volume, which will increase your quad size what. I thought the key to speed & higher jumps are glute, hamstrings and quads (in that order of importance)? Check out Joe DeFranco's site for a few jumping tips. he has an article somewhere. And I would add DB swings to develop power. Maximal strength is the base of all other strength output (e.g endurance, power & other forms of strength). Lets say you can utilise 80% of 60kg squat for power vs. 60% of 100kg squat. Which do you think produces more power output? But, hey! What do I know? Lets hear the read deal from Pizzaboy, explaining all about power output. |

QUOTE(shanecross @ Sep 28 2009, 07:41 AM) Going barefoot is the last thing a trainee should do. deadlifting is an exception because you want to mimic deadlifting in deadlift slippers. Holy crap! I didn't know about the odd arch thing when squatting.Barefoot during squats is dangerous, gives you an odd arch on your foot etc etc. Yuanwu, I've used a D2xs, D3xs, D2Hs, D2h. IMO Canon and Nikon, its just a matter of preference. @pizzaboy, dude, you have too many shoes, time to let go your do win shoe and let this poor soul squat in proper shoes already.hahaha with a bargain of course and a free dinner I gotta go search it up. I've always squatted barefoot or in Pallas Jazz. P.S. I know it's a matter of preference, I just couldn't help pulling some Canon/Sony/etc fanboys' legs. LOL! |

QUOTE(de.crystal @ Oct 10 2009, 10:07 PM) actually i wanna do squat and weight lifting but i dare not malu cz so many experts and geng ppl there dun wanna look stupid infront of them Why care about what other people see?jz like last time, when i started gym, i only did treadmill, till i observed observed and observed then only started slowly with other machines. Those "geng ppl" have no time to look at you or anyone else. They are too busy with their training. you could do a circus act in the gym and they won't care. You should be training hard in the gym that you don't even notice people looking at you or what not. |
