Anyone know is there any external DTS encoder can buy? So that I can listen to 5.1 surround sound. Because AC Ryan PlayonHD only got digital audio out, DTS pass through. but I have 5.1 channel speaker without digital audio input.

Because I have budget constraint, I don't want to buy AV Receiver.

^ Yes it does play but u need to select the biggest file to start the movie unlike the Dvico where u can just select the folder and the movie plays automatically.

The biggest problem I find with the AcRyan is its network performance. Streaming 1080p content is a big NO. Once the scene gets a bit complex, it starts to stutter...and in case you're wondering, this is on a gigabit network..although the POHD only has 100Mb Ethernet. I sure hope they do something about the network performance in the next firmware update.

You can buy a Buffalo Linkstation for RM999 at Lowyat. It is a 4-bay SATA NAS and the price includes a 500GB HDD. This leaves you with 3 other bays to fill up later

For Blu-ray movies most of the time it's either DTS-MA or True-HD, seldom both.

The POHD can't even recognise True-HD. Gives a "Unknown Audio Format" error. Not even downmixed to Stereo.

Thankfully nowadays DTS-MA is more available than True-HD. At least can hear the DTS 5.1 Core. If another 3 mths still not included in the firmware upgrades, then can say goodbye to HD Audio already.

hdwarexpert,

does the XStreamer suffer the same problems?
what sound available for XStreamer, DTS-MA and ......?

thks
