achew: Disappear 10 days, come back with a new lens... sounds like a good deal!
I noticed you don't shoot much wide-angle. So you could use just the Sony 50mm F1.4 and Tamron 90mm F2.8 Macro. The 16-80mm will be annoying to use on the A900 (you'll discover why, when framing). If you want a cheap wide, there's the Sigma 24-70mm F2.8, or a Sony 20mm F2.8, or Sony 28mm F2.8 (though I wouldn't recommend it unless you're really strapped for cash.)
You'll be surprised how wide the 50mm can be on full-frame. It will become a lot more usable.
The A900 went for USD2900 retail, and locally RM9999 retail. The street price was RM8500 (and some got it for RM7xxx now.) So that's about 15% off retail.
Supposing the A850 went for USD2000 retail, which is RM7000 (retail!) So I would estimate RM5xxx (near the middle.)
lol..10days is alot bro~ after working for a year..i notice i've bcome alot more lazier...work more than 3days per week..and i felt tired like hell..lol...maybe is the inconsistent working hours for 12hrs makes me that way
anyway..back to the topic..
usd2000 was just rumoured right...who knows it might ended up like 2500...
i was just telling my gf that i might b getting this new FF soon..and she asked me..so whats the diff btwn this n a900??i said..almost same but with cheaper price...and she came out with a good question.."i thought that time u decided not to buy a900 due to the lacking of liveview..and since this is the same..whats the point to buy??u dont really mind on the price tag isnt it" so now..im getting confused..lol...what makes me to get this one over a900...
btw..if it doesnt have a built-in flash...god..how could i ever shoot in wireless mode again~~!! T_T i always very proud of my camera that i could shoot in wireless without any additional stuff compare to nikon/canon...now looks like have to get a F20 in order to do so? sigh...

ahtsong: I have the Minolta 24-105mm F3.5-4.5 (D) for my A900.
The plus sides is that it is damn small, smaller than the CZ16-80mm, shorter than the 18-70mm kit lens, and it is F3.5-4.5.
However if you expect a Zeiss out of it... no, it will not do that. The 24-105mm however is superb for studio work from F8 to F22 though where the 70-105mm range comes in real handy. You won't get the same image quality of the 16-80mm at F4.5 though but if you're shooting landscapes go F11 and you're happy.
Seng_Kiat: Yes, the A700 screen vividness and sharpness matches my CRT monitor. Also it uses a 640x480 3" VGA screen (your 40D has a 320x240 3" QVGA...)
i might be traveling once/twice a year...thats y once inawhile my 1680 comes in handy with the superb range..afterall..its the very first reason y i bought my first dslr.....
