i really dont dare going above ISO400 at even low light, usually for creative shots, I use F2.8, ISO400 & Shutter around 1/4 to 1/15 without Flash.

shooting at ISO1600/3200 can might as well throw away those images.. will make yourself look bad.. real bad...
*
im quite a pixel peeper...but for wedding..capture the moment is much more important than pixel peeping..if really really cannot...i rather increase to 800/1600 instead of getting blurry photos....the noise would be terrible..but well..at least u capture it..and there are chances where u could save it during your PP....and usually if ppl print the photos..it wont be so big..so the noise isnt that obvious too...

i might leaning toward FF to match 70200G..and hopefully the price of this new a850 would be attractive enough..else i don see the point sony release something almost identical to a900..

QUOTE(albnok @ Aug 2 2009, 05:59 PM)
achew: Disappear 10 days, come back with a new lens... sounds like a good deal!

I noticed you don't shoot much wide-angle. So you could use just the Sony 50mm F1.4 and Tamron 90mm F2.8 Macro. The 16-80mm will be annoying to use on the A900 (you'll discover why, when framing). If you want a cheap wide, there's the Sigma 24-70mm F2.8, or a Sony 20mm F2.8, or Sony 28mm F2.8 (though I wouldn't recommend it unless you're really strapped for cash.)

You'll be surprised how wide the 50mm can be on full-frame. It will become a lot more usable.

The A900 went for USD2900 retail, and locally RM9999 retail. The street price was RM8500 (and some got it for RM7xxx now.) So that's about 15% off retail.

Supposing the A850 went for USD2000 retail, which is RM7000 (retail!) So I would estimate RM5xxx (near the middle.)

lol..10days is alot bro~ after working for a year..i notice i've bcome alot more lazier...work more than 3days per week..and i felt tired like hell..lol...maybe is the inconsistent working hours for 12hrs makes me that way cry.gif

anyway..back to the topic..
usd2000 was just rumoured right...who knows it might ended up like 2500... whistling.gif
i was just telling my gf that i might b getting this new FF soon..and she asked me..so whats the diff btwn this n a900??i said..almost same but with cheaper price...and she came out with a good question.."i thought that time u decided not to buy a900 due to the lacking of liveview..and since this is the same..whats the point to buy??u dont really mind on the price tag isnt it" so now..im getting confused..lol...what makes me to get this one over a900...

btw..if it doesnt have a built-in flash...god..how could i ever shoot in wireless mode again~~!! T_T i always very proud of my camera that i could shoot in wireless without any additional stuff compare to nikon/canon...now looks like have to get a F20 in order to do so? sigh...

ahtsong: I have the Minolta 24-105mm F3.5-4.5 (D) for my A900.

The plus sides is that it is damn small, smaller than the CZ16-80mm, shorter than the 18-70mm kit lens, and it is F3.5-4.5.

However if you expect a Zeiss out of it... no, it will not do that. The 24-105mm however is superb for studio work from F8 to F22 though where the 70-105mm range comes in real handy. You won't get the same image quality of the 16-80mm at F4.5 though but if you're shooting landscapes go F11 and you're happy.

Seng_Kiat: Yes, the A700 screen vividness and sharpness matches my CRT monitor. Also it uses a 640x480 3" VGA screen (your 40D has a 320x240 3" QVGA...)
*
i might be traveling once/twice a year...thats y once inawhile my 1680 comes in handy with the superb range..afterall..its the very first reason y i bought my first dslr..... sad.gif

achew:

USD2500 = RM8750

We can definitely already get the A900 for less than that, in street price. Some have gotten theirs for RM7xxx. So the A850 should be cheaper than that!

The A850 has 3 FPS versus the A900's 5 FPS, and it has a better burst rate than the A900 (not too relevant for me.)

Yes, unfortunately, there is no pop-up flash, but the F20 is cheap (RM420 is one local quote) and it is both a flash that can bounce as well as a wireless trigger.

The A500/A550 might be worth the wait. We'll see.
*
burst rate also not too concerning me..lol..
if i gonna upgrade..i probably choose FF if possible..so that it saves me some $ from gradual upgrading..as well as better usability if im getting one of the 2470/70200

QUOTE(albnok @ Aug 2 2009, 08:18 PM)
Banzai_san: The A850 doesn't have Live View.

However, it is full-frame, just like your Nikon FE2. The A330/A380 will have a tiny viewfinder, while the A850 viewfinder is HUGE! (Only thing bigger than that, is the Canon 1Ds MkIII and the A900.)

Full-frame digital SLR viewfinder coverage:

Canon 1DsMkIII = 0.76x * 100% = 76%
Sony A900 = 0.74x * 100% = 74%
Sony A850 = 0.74x * 98% = 72.52%
Nikon D3x = 0.7x * 100% = 70%
Canon 5DMkII = 0.71x * 98% = 69.58%
Nikon D700 = 0.72x * 95% = 68.4%

If you put one camera to each eye, you can see the difference in size quite obviously.

kopitiam: That is too cute!
*
hmm?? does the % represent the amount of % u see out of the whole picture?? i thought for a900 its like what u see is what u get..

achew: Oops I mean:

Magnification * viewfinder coverage = multiplier of sensor

So, a 35.9mm x 24mm sensor like on the A900, will appear to have a 26.566mm x 17.76mm surface area after multiplying by the magnification and viewfinder coverage.

A Nikon D300 has 0.94x 100% coverage but the sensor is smaller (23.6mm x 15.8mm) so in the end it still looks smaller (22.184mm x 14.852mm).

Of course, the 100% does mean what you framed, is what you get.
*
haha..i understand...initially i tot all the while my concept about the 100% viewfinder thingy was wrong..lol..

QUOTE(MemorableStudios @ Aug 2 2009, 09:11 PM)

very curious bout the A550 model... since i dont think is time for me to upgrade to Fullframe like the A850 yet...

Worry the A550 was the "cut-cost" version of A700 then i might as well better to get the A700 now when d price r on its lowest.

The fullframe even if its selling for 6k+ FF lens(still not too understand with the FF lenses...) its still far beyond my budget sad.gif
*
from the sony/minolta naming convention..it looks like the next a100 to me...

50mm F1.4 is a FF lens...and i think it probably boils down to ur portrait style...for me *most of the time* i would find 3x mm(on apsc term) a lil bit too wide for portrait of my style...i'd prefer 85~1xx >.<
