No, it wouldn't be any stress. 60" @ 8' means your ratio is 1.83x screen width which is higher than the minimum recommendation of 1.5x screen width.

BTW, my ratio is 1.63x screen width and it's fine for me.

I just get an Optoma HD82 demo unit from a local dealer for a day. I can tell you the 3D pop is very good. Kungfu Panda looks exceptional on this projector as you can see the fur standing out and very 3D like. I'm going to get this but need to check if coming 120hz 3D is upgradable for free? If not, going to wait until end of this year for the 3D model.

After tuning, I feel the picture quality is even better than my plasma tv.

hi pierreye
when you tested the hd82 did you find the screen too bright? when i tested it, the screen like sometime bright sometime dark. further more, there is a bright circle outside the black line. to me i am new in this but it just does not perform like what i expected. may be the setting is not right.

What's your screen size? I'm using 114" with 1.4 gain. I feel the brightness is just nice. If you have circle outside the black line (Halo), I believe the problem is due to sharpness control and also puredetail. Turn off sharpness and pure detail. All this is useless for HD movie and actually degrade the picture quality. Pure motion is only useful for animation such as Kungfu panda but for normal movie, turn it off as the movement is a little bit too smooth like watching video.

When you mention the screen sometime bright and dark, it might be the Dynamic black setting. Use cinema 1. If you still feel the effect due to iris movement, you can fine tune in the service menu to tone down the effect. I had make some adjustment on 1/4 step lower to reduce brightness changes effect. Dark Knight would be the torture test for dynamic iris projector. After lower the 1/4 step setting and watching dark knight (Where joker blast the swat van), the effect is no longer noticeable.

Did you watch Kungfu Panda with this projector? The pop is unbelievable. Even the dark scene where Tylang breakout from prison is very good.

I have not buy yet still in the shopping around as this is the first time setup. speaker and amp all ready.is only left the screen and projector. I test the HD82 at Hifi shop with 80' onxy screen so cannot play around with the setting you mentioned.
For screen I have tested the stewart, os and onxy and I hardly see vast different between these screen but the projector.
For RS10/20 the green color very vivid and the black is good but not as natural as the older model RS2. furthermore I think jvc wanna fight with DLP so they make it brighter than before. for a stereo guy like me, jvc more like our definition of "analog", movie like.
Try also the mitsubishi 7000 in singapore and the darkness and color is good but was told that after sometime the lcd lens will turn yellowish as under ther heat.
For infocus in83, it has the DLP strentgh, very "digital" very high defined screen but pricey too
so far I see the optoma HD82 has the best of all in term of pricing and performance. color is vivid and darkness is good. but it hold me back when i see the sreen brightnes keep changing and the "halo". it stop me from there. I dunno where to audition again in KL as I dunno who is carrying this product and have demo it.
If you know any place that i can audition it again please let me know
regards

Wah projector really difficult to upgrade, can't put extra unit in other room... only 1 room per home. And bulb life still remains.

So fast moving
