QUOTE(pierreye @ Jul 9 2009, 10:57 AM) Anyway, I had an audition for JVC HD350. Based on the review I had read, the demo is a little bit dissapointing. I'm not sure if the demo unit is having problem as it doesn't show the attribute as mention in the review. So I'm back to 1080p projector. The HD350 is the same as RS10 right? What did you find disappointing about it? Anyway, 1080p for USD1k is a new benchmark in price for Full HD projectors. Would help to increase uptake of 1080p material.

QUOTE(s6xs9x @ Jul 9 2009, 10:39 PM) Guys, PJ to screen with 14ft distance apart. What size am I looking at? Sitting Position will be 8ft only from the screen. So my couch would be in between the screen and PJ. In your situation the screen size is going to be limited by your sitting position not the projector distance. At 14' projector distance you can easily project 110" and more, but it will be too big for your 8' sitting position.

QUOTE(s6xs9x @ Jul 10 2009, 10:51 AM) Hmm 50" ~ 60" should be more than sufficient, but what about the quality? Will 8' watching distance of lets say 60" be a horrid? Quality? If you're using Full HD projector then it'll be great. 60" at 8' is ok. Why do you think it would be horrid? If you can push your chair back even better because it will enable u to have a bigger screen.

No, it wouldn't be any stress. 60" @ 8' means your ratio is 1.83x screen width which is higher than the minimum recommendation of 1.5x screen width.
BTW, my ratio is 1.63x screen width and it's fine for me.

QUOTE(Kiding @ Feb 2 2010, 10:47 AM) I got it from ebay, if they don't ship it to Malaysia, you can use vpost Malaysia to get it from U.S Which ebay seller did you get it from? I assume he ships to Malaysia since you got yours in 4 days. Was shipping expensive?

QUOTE(geforce1999 @ Feb 2 2010, 12:11 PM) Upgrading bug hit you? It's not for me. If I went for HD20 it would be, as htkaki said, a downgrade

QUOTE(htkaki @ Feb 2 2010, 08:15 PM) OT: AE-4000 price is lower now. It is below RM12K mark. RRP: RM12,999. Anyway, still hold on to my horses as am waiting to see how does the 3D FHD pj evolves in 2010. When originally launched, wasn't the RRP of the AE-2000 and AE-3000 also RM12,999?

QUOTE(htkaki @ Feb 3 2010, 08:48 AM) Is it? I thought it was RM13,999 . Maybe my mem is failing me. I think you're correct. So that means RRP for AE-4000 is only RM1000 lower than RRP of AE-3000. Yet in US, the RRP difference is USD1000 (USD2499 vs USD3499). So following that, RRP for AE-4000 in MY should be around RM10,999. Again looks like Panny Malaysia is having high mark up for the full HD pj. This post has been edited by jchong: Feb 3 2010, 12:15 PM

QUOTE(yltan @ Feb 3 2010, 11:55 AM) What type of screen you guys use for projector... Depends on your budget. Some people just use the plain white wall (cheapest). Some use a special paint on the wall. Some DIY their screen. Others will buy a ready made screen (Draper, Stewart, OS, etc). For me I'm using a Carada screen.

QUOTE(yltan @ Feb 3 2010, 10:45 PM) Can share some review on Draper and Carada. Just do a google search, there are sites and threads out there which give reviews. I'm quite happy with my Carada screen. I'm using the Brilliant White material.

Good to know the Vivitek has good performance. What movies did you use to demo the Vivitek and HD20?

QUOTE(anfieldude @ Feb 10 2010, 01:22 PM) Maybe when I get the chance to calibrate the impressive Panny AE3000 (soon), we can compare the results. The Panny's CMS is supposed to be pretty good as well. Although, I'm not sure how linear they are. Yeah, it'll be good to know if the AE-3000 lives up to its claims and if the CMS is really as good as they say.

QUOTE(pierreye @ Feb 10 2010, 06:15 PM) Yeah. I know mys_terious had order the AE4000. Initially he want to get my W6000 but I ask him to go ahead with AE4000 as I can't confirm the quote for HD86 from US at that time. I'll pm him to check if he is interested in shootout. Maybe help him to do the calibration during the shootout will attract him Just send him a PM and see if he interested. Anyway, if the shootout is on, I can only do it after CNY. Got party to organize so not free for shootout. Update. Just get confirmation from mys_terious that he'll bring the AE4000 to Penang after CNY. We'll arrange again. So, anfieldude bro, you in? Can do it at my house as I lazy to unscrew my W6000 from the mounting. pj party in pg! Yes, it would be good to get impressions from you all about the W6000 and AE4000. Looks like anfieldude will have a chance to try out Panny's AE3000 and AE4000 in the near future. Anyway, when you talk about the 'pop' with DLP is it due to the ANSI contrast?
