Check this out guys. Cheapest 1080p projector using DLP. Support 1080p24. If anyone can bring this in for less than RM 5k than this would be a hot seller for upgrade from 720p. I'm going to hold my HD82 purchase until more review for this unit is out.

Anyway, I had an audition for JVC HD350. Based on the review I had read, the demo is a little bit dissapointing. I'm not sure if the demo unit is having problem as it doesn't show the attribute as mention in the review. So I'm back to 1080p projector.

500:1 is ANSI contrast. Still higher than JVC RS10 which is 300:1. On/Off should be 3500:1.

The HD350 is the same as RS10 right? What did you find disappointing about it?

Anyway, 1080p for USD1k is a new benchmark in price for Full HD projectors. Would help to increase uptake of 1080p material.

yes agree basic 1080p projs, USD 1k should be the new price point nowadays, even 42inch plasmas can be had for less than 1k USD.. so no other reason why it should be costing usd2k for a starter 1080p projector unless they throw in an anamorpic lens as well.. tongue.gif

Guys,
PJ to screen with 14ft distance apart. What size am I looking at?
Sitting Position will be 8ft only from the screen.
So my couch would be in between the screen and PJ.

1. black level is not up to my expectation. Need to fully close the iris but still not reaching what I would consider inky black. RS2 actually beat the rs10 in this area in black level.

2. I'm from DLP projector and I would say DLP projector still have the WOW factor in the picture quality. Somehow I feel DLP projector had more 3D pop in high contrast picture.

3. A little bit blur to my taste. DLP still sharper. I read a lot of review saying that the sharpness is acceptable but not too me. I don't feel my 720p DLP projector is loosing in term of sharpness.

4. Color is over saturated. My BENQ 720p projector is tuned using colorimeter and greyscale is almost perfect and color gamut dE is less than 3. Anyway, since it's a demo, I do not have time to tune the projector but even then rs10 can't have a perfect color decoding due to lack of 3D CMS. So out of box, it's not perfect.

I suspect the demo unit is defective as it doesn't tally with most of the review. So I would suggest you all view the unit first before buying.

In your situation the screen size is going to be limited by your sitting position not the projector distance. At 14' projector distance you can easily project 110" and more, but it will be too big for your 8' sitting position.

8ft viewing distance you can get between 70" ~ 55" screen size.
Depends on individual also, some might find 70" too big at 8ft.

Hmm 50" ~ 60" should be more than sufficient, but what about the quality?
Will 8' watching distance of lets say 60" be a horrid?

Quality? If you're using Full HD projector then it'll be great.

60" at 8' is ok. Why do you think it would be horrid?

If you can push your chair back even better because it will enable u to have a bigger screen.

I'm just worried that it can end up too stress to watch at that distance.
Will do more measurements and then decide.
Thanks guys, at least I know that 60" is achievable safely.
