err...friend, 850cc was one of the existing model...not sure if it's still in production though. I test drive one of those thingy.(in fact, all 660, 850 and 1.0). But i didn't buy one. tongue.gif

btw, the 38k is for Premium 1.0?? I remember the launch premium Auto was like 43k or something?

I dont know what others are thinking, but i think its very ugly for a car that size. Looks like a mini Kembara DVVT or something. Eventhough the pre-facelifted models look dull and boring, but the design suits the car better.

erm...look at current myvi bumper and look at viva elite's bumper..similar design, copy paste basically and chagne a bit..then copy honda city's grille and paste it between the headlamps...end up viva elite. no offence but the car now looks weird, not proportion to the original design. but maybe takes time to accept it. it looks quite fierce, at least would be more suitable for men rather than women now.

well, it is suppose 2 be a kancil replacement.. n it is suppose 2 be 4 someone who wants sumthin really cheap n dont mind the bare-ness of it..

i think its a fabulous idea thumbup.gif

i would say yes.. i mean, its juz a matter of u want sumthin cheap.. u want a 25k new car, u cant really be choosy bout wat its got n wat it doesnt, rite??

n besides, juz go 2 ur nearest accessories shop, get a new unit wit speakers for juz couple of hundred bucks..

its like the satria neo 4 instance, we know its got a less than desirable engine.. but we want a sporty lookin hatch 4 under 60k.. so we'll buy it coz we simply cant be too choosy when we're talkin bout this sorta price range.. n if ure still no satisfied, we can juz go improve the engine wit aftermarket mods rolleyes.gif

i think its a very very good idea.. 25k for a new, small, frugal car, that is essentially juz a car, no add ons watsoever.. i think theres gonna be a big market 4 sumthin like this, its gonna sell well.. parents buying their children a car, first time car buyers, someone whos lookin 2 buy a small use in the city 2nd car, would probably look 4 sumthin like this.. n im sure these people would not gonna be really bothered bout it not having a radio..

Check the specs for the new 660bx:

# No power steering
# No power windows
# No central locking
# No radio
# No reverse sensors

Too many no....Might as well add no need to guy this car. rolleyes.gif Even the 27k old saga is much better than this. At least got power steering, power window, central locking and radio

Btw, wouldn't this affect the 2nd hand price of vivas?

That said though, I think I'll delay my buying of a car till next year when the Kia Forte is released. The Viva Elite midnight blue looks nice, but have to wait for customer reviews.

Whether it looks really as good as the brochure. And by introducing the facelift, whether they screwed up anything (increased kerb weight, etc).

Whether it looks really as good as the brochure. And by introducing the facelift, whether they screwed up anything (increased kerb weight, etc).
i dont think theres anythin 2 worry bout weight increment, becoz if there is, i reckon its juz a slight increase.. but how much of a price increase between the elite n the used 2 be top of the range ezi model??

RM700 for a whole set of bodykits which is not aftermarket Fibers are quite a bargain imo.

You're right. But still, a tad expensive for a 1.0L. RM1000 more and you can get base line 1.3L MyVi and 1.6L Persona.

rm700 n get the extra bodykit, i wonder if thats worth it or not.. its not much rite?? u'll be spending way more than that if u go 4 a new set of rims.. n as far as i can tell, the changes r juz cosmetic, rite?? no difference on the inside that i could see..

Only by the space and engine factor.

Cuz Viva is highest spec and the other 2 is the base line. We get Abs, edb, dual srs airbags with extra goodies in the viva while the other 2 doesnt have all that. But it all depends on how one prefer lol.

You have a point. laugh.gif

By the way, is the Viva Elite only for EZi (automatic)?
Will the SXi (manual) also be getting an upgrade?
The price should be cheaper right...? Hopefully 41k...

sumthin caought my eye in the brochure, the elite's rear spoiler is only available wit the ezi model.. meaning only the auto version's gettin that spoiler.. y is that?? its impossible that theres anythin mechanically or electronically linking that spoiler 2 the gearbox, so is it juz some physical thing 2 show other people that ure spending a bit more 4 the self shifting gearbox??

btw andrew, i think the elite comes wit a manual as well..

I missed that. That IS weird. Maybe they want to encourage people to purchase the more expensive automatic version.

Most probably they will not be widely used. can see that some more worldwide brands started to introduce Steptronic as replacement to both Auto and Manual. While the Manual ones will mostly be given to racing specs and etc.

Just booked one just now. The car is actually not bad la. Given the price and the fact that Perodua > Proton, it should be a decent car to drive to/from work and normal city driving.

I think their main concern is the price. If all the models slashed by 5k, I think it'll be getting more praise. Also it's main competitor, the Saga BLM, a sedan, is cheaper. No doubt people will still buy MyVi/Viva, but there has been a lack of innovation on Perodua's part. All their cars so far are re-badges with minor exterior modifications. It wouldn't be so bad if the price was lower. Right now it just feels like they're trying to maximize profits only.

Its a shrinked grand livina with an unjustified price. Worse the power steering n passive safety features is only for the Elite for 45k. Add alittle more and you may get the more spacious and powerful and more well speced myvi.

This is bullocks effort from Perodua. Thank goodness at least Proton has better offerings for such price. wink.gif

Proton overtakes Perodua in total sales

Now if only Proton would just fix all the QC issues and after service stuff, people wouldn't hesitate to buy their cars. Proton should also try to make an economical city car. All their cars now seem to be designed for gearheads who want speed and power. Savvy was a nice attempt at an fuel-economical car though.

the prob proton has in making a fuel efficient car is that they havent got a proper engine.. as we all know, the campro is by no means a fuel efficient engine.. coupled wit an automatic gearbox especially, it'll suck fuel like nobody's business..

u guys realize y perodua is making this move rite?? theyre gettin cocky, theyre gettin really cocky indeed, coz they think theyre now so much better than proton..

From Autoworld Site:
"In a show of refreshing frankness and honesty, Perodua revealed that they were stung into action by a drop in sales of the 1.0-litre and by the 660 variant not performing as planned. The presentation made to the media also pointed at an Exora-inspired surge that saw Proton overtook Perodua's sales figures in June 2009.

Their response now sees Perodua offering to the Malaysian public the cheapest car and the cheapest automatic car on sale in the form of the ViVA 660BX and the ViVA 1.0 A/T respectively."

So Perodua knows they're losing momentum. I'm glad they're aware of this, but still I find the pricing too high. But I think it's garnered interest because the Perodua website feels slower this morning. Probably getting more traffic. laugh.gif

But no point offering the cheapest car with almost no features.
No point in offering the cheapest automatic car if it doesn't feel safe to drive.

The only economical car from proton is really the underrated proton savvy. However despite the campros are fuel gruzzlers (the saga BLM FC is at 11-12km/l for a 1.3 car which is not impressive), but for what u paying for it is acceptable. Dont forget it is still a proper small saloon car which favours majority of malaysians.

Perodua is just like its another subsidery, UMWT who got cockier with the success of Toyota. Well u cant blame malaysian mentality, anything with T or H badge rulez everything. wink.gif

the prob wit the savvy is the looks, people juz cant accept it.. i tried 2 appreciate it, but still cant sweat.gif n that renault engine, its a good engine, but people here still have this rather stupid assumption that becoz its a continental engine, it'll be unreliable n expensive 2 maintain.. also, ive heard that the amt's quite problematic as well (not quite sure bout that, but ive heard lots of owners complaining bout it).. but the manual one is pretty much prob free..
