I don't expect to down the heat drastically la, bro sweat.gif computer hardware are designed to withstand high-temp under operation so i wont too concern about it unless until the keyboard also can feel heat, then really bangkai lo laugh.gif

not to 'pour water' but after changing to an intel t6500 here are the temps without using zalman
idle 43
cpu 100% 63, very occasionally spike up to 70 but will drop in split seconds (for 1 of the cores only, not both cores)
movie 56
gaming 86, very occasionally spike up to 90 but will drop in split second

using zalman
idle 41, lowest 39
cpu 100% 60, lowest 59
movie 55, lowest 53
gaming 83

Added on July 17, 2009, 4:03 pmthe intel discrete gpu not as powerful as the 4570 but IMHO the temps are just too high to be comfortable with.....

T6500 reach 80"C+ too???? I always though this new c2d with 45nm die size would be much more cooler then amd old 65nm k8...
My fren have a 45nm intel proc in his rig, and it's not too hot even when he oc it, maybe laptop would just hotter then desktop no matter what...
Thanks for your information, sordanny, I really appreciate it notworthy.gif notworthy.gif notworthy.gif
The zalman seem to perform better then cm infinite, may i know how much you bough it for?

yes even 45nm core would be at that kinda temp when gaming for LONG periods
actually i feel K40AB is more responsive even though the specs are comparable except for the gpu
the big advantage of intel obviously is heat emissions/disbursement even under stress
hopefully AMD will come up with better heat solutions when designing their phenom2 for laptops
myself is actually an AMD fan....
all the desktops i owned over the years had all been AMD........
too bad AMD failed me this time around when coming to laptops sad.gif

yes laptop and desktop is very different
desktop in terms of the heat u can basically ignore it or invest in a water cooling system if u're really into oc
but laptop don't have that kinda luxury.....
zalman is among the most expensive at the moment i got mine for rm280

Yeah, amd proc would be more responsive bcoz it have an on-die memory controller, but even this last dignity (?) of amd is fading as intel latest i7 introduced an intergrated memory controller as well, not to mention it is BETTER...
Amd prolly wouldn't survive too long now, sad to say...

Anyway, i do aware that the athlon would be hotter but I just cant resist the under 2k pricing sweat.gif
If i can find laptop with intel proc and still have decent graphic and reasonable price, i might chnage, but right now im deeply poison with this model.... It's all astria's fault laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

I"m getting it too, but my aim would be tha k50ab  laugh.gif    Coming soon according to Mr. Perfect (thanks again  icon_rolleyes.gif ) ... so good service sure his business banyak-banyak 1  tongue.gif
If you plan to make a thread then count me in, we can do an Official K40/50AB Owner Club, put title like
--- Laptop that can Play Crysis ---- K40AB,  NO 4k, NO 3k, NO 2.5k, just 2k...NO JOKE  tongue.gif

QUOTE(sordanny @ Jul 17 2009, 02:44 PM)
hahahaha pls also include catchy phrase like
my K40AB can cook maggi mee, your laptop can bo??????? NO JOKE
hehe jkjk
but the laptop aside from the heat really 1 good performance laptop with an ultra affordable price  smile.gif

laugh.gif You guys are so funny biggrin.gif Playing Crysis is not really that playable, since its limited in both ways (fill rate and memory bandwidth). But at least I make it look decent enough with some shadows with semi playable setting.

So far I want to put this in the thread:

1) Where to download Mobility driver (its hard to find one, even the official driver won't work)
2) k10stats for downvolt/downclocking or even overclocking tongue.gif
3) Ways to cool it down/mod it (with picture of course)
4) Gameplay tweaks on some games , especially the aforementioned Crysis

Anything else I should put?

not surprised with the temp of the C2D T6000 series...

first of all, it's a T CPU...

secondly, it's probably made with cheaper material (the good ones went to T/P9000 and P8000)

thirdly, yes, it can be due to the way the cooling is made...

a run of 3D Maark 06 on my laptop will make the T9550 to peak at a low 6xC... and that's with no cooler...

Your T9550 seem much better. And i thought of giving the t6500 in the studio15 a good overclock as i had try it b4 with a 65nm allendale and expect a better oc headroom with 45nm penryn....
Well, guess i have finally made-up my mind then... these 45/65nm stuff didn't seem to be that significant instead of these foreign review site claim to be...

got use la...

u see his idle temp, 4xC only, it's already cooler than my old laptop with T7100 (65nm), last time it's a high 4xC or low 5xC...

it's the long hour of use that tests the CPU to the limit... and clearly, a T6000 reaches it's own pretty fast...

in a desktop it doesn't but in a laptop it does
cuz 65nm design emits use more power and so end result emit more heat
in msia we're still ok but in middle eastern 40++ 50 degrees weather i think they'll all have to use their oc'ed laptop in a cold room
smile.gif

and damn talking about middle east i'm going there tomorrow night
doh.gif
gosh i hate to go there this time of the year sad.gif

Yeah, I did notice it but.... it's not too significant, at least for me la, to cash-out another 700 bucks for that...
Plus asus default 2 years warranty, all for rm1999, I would be a jerk if i still complain wink.gif

Prototype is Really FUN, Killing around with our bad-ass looking character, and his spiky claw/tentacle/hammer brows.gif
The requirement seem quite low compare to other latest title, as my old rig have no problem running it at the max seting, I guess most lappie with decent discrete graphic card shud be able to play this at medium.
