During DVD-buying days (in late 90s), I used to rush out and buy any new R1 releases available without price concern. But with BDs nowadays... I'm willing to wait even if its my favourite newly-released titles! I'll wait til the price goes down to a price margin I'm ok with. Cheapskate me, huh...

QUOTE(maryjane9996 @ Jul 7 2009, 05:50 PM) hi guys. For me, downloads only for previewing purpose of a new / obscure movies which are not shown in local cinemas and / or if not available as DVD in the Jack Sparrow market. For collection, I'd prefer hard-copy disc aka Blu-Ray.can i ask 1 question ? why u all didnt download the blu ray movie ? its free... ive watched,Kill Bill 1&2,Bourne Identity,Bourne Supremacy,Bourne Ultimatum,Tranformers,Iron Man,Rambo,Wanted,Spiderman,Dark Knight, and Hulk at the moment.now waiting for Topgun 1986. With "real" HD movies in a physical form, I can see and hold its packaging, design etc. apart from the disc itself which truly deliver full HD PQ & AQ, period. And I can oso place them neatly on my shelf to show-off lar, hehe... |

QUOTE(anfieldude @ Jul 9 2009, 10:25 AM) Watched Wall-E recently on BD. Really very good transfer. The details to attention by Pixar is unrivalled. The earth scenes were very well done and some very good LFE during the probe landing. Bro, I didn't know you own an Oppo BDp. Is it region-free and any good overall... as compared to the other more "publicised"/known brand BDp out there? Thanks...I would rate PQ to be on par with Ratatouille. SQ very good. I did not get DTSHDMA 6.1 on my Oppo but I believe the PS3 did show 6.1. Need to check this. |

QUOTE(anfieldude @ Jul 9 2009, 10:56 AM) Fathil, Ooops, my bad... didn't go to the other thread. Looks like it's going on top of my BDp shopping list... to replace my PS3. I gave my review in the BluRay player thread. It is now region free after I installed the hardware mod. It is an universal player and handles BD, DVD, DVD-A, SACD, HDCD and RedBox CD. That's its strength. As a BD player for PQ the differences between the different players (Panny, Sony, Pioneer) are minimal but there. SQ it bitstreams. DVD upscaling is very good as well. Check out the BD Player Thread. QUOTE(aiman04 @ Jul 9 2009, 11:47 AM) Knowing is a kewl movie..... |

I can imagine Knowing PQ sure gonna rock bigtime; knowing how Alex Proyas' visual style & look as in his previous effort on BD:
I, Robot Dark City and hopefully soon: The Crow |

QUOTE(HornyAngMoh @ Jul 10 2009, 08:52 AM) Ha! Ha! Me too very surprise to see her 'mountain'!!! Troy: Director's Cut is one of my first BD titles to own and thus far has one of the best PQ transfer that I've ever seen on a "non-new movie" BD title. Truly recommended...... and because of Ms Kruger's "twin peaks" too BTW is troy PQ & AQ good? I only got 'PRC Blu-ray DVD9' vision. Haven't really buy the Troy actual BD yet. |

QUOTE(aiman04 @ Jul 10 2009, 12:02 PM) Anyone seen the 3D version of Ice Age 3 in cinemas? Does it use the same technology as the Journey to the Center of the Earth BD? Ice Age 3 uses Real D 3-D technology; the same used for Journey To The Centre..., My Bloody Valentine, Monsters & Aliens, Bolt and Up... with the last two using Disney Digital 3-D, Disney's equivalent of the Real D 3-D technology... Wanna bring my kid to see it this afternoon, if it's the same 3D technology, then I'll just choose the normal one. ...though I've never watched any 3-D movies/CGI animations in M'sian cinemas yet... |

The last non-feature film 3-D I've seen was a short clip at Disneyland... where Donald Duck (or some character) dives into the water and not only I can see the water splash coming at me out of the screen... but can actually physically feel it!!
