How much difference watching a life-action 3D movie & CGI-animated 3D movie on blu-ray?

What is a good one-time buy of a 3D blu-ray movie to keep (if we put aside story & plotlines...)?

I actually love this movie... one of my favourite John McTiernan flicks back in the days. But not quite fond on the blu-ray reviews, especially its PQ... u know me la, grainy & all those flaws turn me off watching hi-def... tongue.gif

QUOTE(zerorulez @ Jul 24 2009, 12:59 PM)
the picture got lots of grains or not or smooth and sharp as Transformers BD?
*
Troy Director's Cut - almost grainless, blacks are dead-on, colours are rich, almost all scenes look 3-dimensional... pop up to you, as though you're in that scene. I can enjoy all these even though my LCD's not Full HD!

Transformers on the other hand, while the daylight/robot scenes are dead-sharp; is heavily-grained especially interior & night scenes... but like many others will say - this gritty-grainy look is intended to be there; and also the extensive use of filters which is fine for the tone & feel of this movie, I guess... wink.gif

But if to compare, Troy the clear winner here.. to me, at least; as a Hi-Def PQ demo disc... thumbup.gif

ps - Diane Kruger's (.Y.) could've been sharper... drool.gif biggrin.gif

Arremie is correct. The first thing to identify US disc is the white sticker at the top of the casing. UK's case is usually slightly thicker than US and bearing the rating logo at the front cover. The rest is probably Region A Asian (HK) version where the cover design or look slightly differ from US one... and may contain more Asian language/subtitle in it; also on the back cover there's a white box with no barcode (not all though)...

Example - If the BD titled Live Free Or Die Hard, then it's the US Region A version and if it's Die Hard 4.0 (with a slightly different Bruce Willis face on cover), then it's the ASIAN (HK) Region A version nod.gif

QUOTE(attentional @ Jul 26 2009, 11:00 AM)
That only applies to BD bought from US ma. I saw a few BD from Speedy and I confirm it is from US, but without the white seal. I emailed Speedy regarding this before and they say they open the box to check the disc and reseal again with the security tag.

If that's the case, I won't be buying any US BD from $PEEDO even if their price drop coz watz the point of buying a "brand new" BD if it's already being opened!!!??! Silly init....doh.gif

Went to $PEEDÂ¥ @ 1Utama and would like to share these:

- The Transformers BD sold here is Asian Region A: there's no white sticker, there's no transparent slipcase with title on it (title was printed on the cover sleeve itself instead)

- Saw three Fast & Furious series BDs sold separately for RM119.90 each but there's a HVN logo at the back (huh?? S'pore or M'sia made maybe.... tongue.gif )

- Saw a few BD titles from US (white top sticker), Canada, UK (wif rating logo & thicker box), Japan and mostly HK...

- Spider-Man 3 BD; while it's actually Region A US, it didn't have the white sticker... why you ask? It's because they bought from the boxset (which is cheaper and each disc was not sealed in the boxset) and they sold it separately wif unbelievable marked-up price of RM179.00!!! That's a smart-ass business... go $PEEDO!

- The selected B2G1 titles were stacked on a separate rack than the normal-priced ones
