Wow Kul | Mo0, the shots turned out better than I remember it looking on camera! And amazingly at 55mm F4 you can already see shallow DOF (on dingenius3's face where he is backlight by 2 flashes.)
Am loving the shadow on millenia3000's face, cast by the Sigma!

QUOTE(albnok @ Jul 9 2009, 05:56 PM) HiroBoroi: Infrared has no color. However, every sensor I have ever seen registers it as purple. Cameras with stronger IR block filters should not use the R72 filter - the R72 lets in a lot of red. If you see red, that just means that for the same long exposure, it has let in more red than infrared. I have a China-made 950nm filter which gives a strong filtration such that longer exposures do not let in any red... the downside being that there is no false color and all of the exposure is purple. An alternative is to use the R72 with a pair of polarizers at maximum darkening (which cut off the red side of the spectrum, so you get pure infrared.) albnok, Thanks for the reply. If I use a 950nm filter, will I need to expose longer? At present I'm using the Hoya R72 filter and I need about 30 seconds exposure to get something on the histogram. The exposure direct from the camera as you say is very red. I think the D90 has very aggressive IR filter (on its sensor) compared to the D40. Only solution is to do open heart surgery on my D90 ... but scared la . Lastly, how much is the China-made filter? Hopefully that will be a good cheap experiment to try out. Also where to get?
