The reason why I choose MAC is because it can do that PC can't do. From the beginning, I really thought that MAC is only for a graphic design people. But guess I was wrong. I search through all website about MAC and why it is so special and so expensive compare to other computer. It didn't really convince me until one day, I read in lowyat.net. One of the member in the forum told me about how MAC change his perception about using a computer. On thing that he said is, "if you have MAC, chances of getting virus is zero". Well, I'm really sick of viruses that coming in when I'm using PC. Its very hard because I have to scan every time I switch on my computer and even though I bought expensive anti-virus, there is no way that I can block all the virus. The solution is? Of course MAC

But one thing that bother me. Why MAC is so expensive? Is it because of the BRAND? Most people will say that when you buy MAC, you buy for a brand. Plus, the software is totally different because MAC have their own software. I'm afraid that I will not capable to understand all the basic thing in MAC because I'm not a high-tech person.

I make a research about "WHY MAC IS SO EXPENSIVE" and I found out why. It's not because of the BRAND itself but it because APPLE trying to protect their product and they will make sure that everything is good to their consumer. Not convincing enough? I tried to compare PC and MAC side by side and see about the capability of the MAC and PC. First, MAC run faster than PC. Second, it is very user friendly. Third, the screen is more better compare to PC. Fourth, weight to weight comparison because I travel a lot. Fifth, it is easy for me to have MAC than PC because it can match with my iPhone and iPod which can have a lot of thing to do when you have the same manufacture and it works perfect.

I do not know about the RAM,ROM because I wasn't looking at that. I just want a computer that is light weight, not easy to get attack by virus and user friendly. But the price is still killing me. So, I made up my mind and save some money to buy a MAC. I swear that I will throw my MAC in front of the APPLE STORE if the MAC didn't do the job as I wanted.

On March 2009, I went to APPLE STORE in KLCC and the girl explained to me about MAC. After she convinced me that MAC is better than PC, I bought it straight.

From the boxing, I can say that this item is so marvelous. I tried to play with my MAC for a couple of days and I really frustrated because I didn't even know how to use it. I was thinking about to sell it back. But my heart tell me to give it a try for another weeks. Luckily that in APPLE website, they have a video showing what I can do with my MAC and even there's a video for user who just bought a MAC. It was amazing how this team do this especially to a person like me who didn't even know anything. It took me several day to learn and watch all the videos. But I got to say that it pay off. Now, I know everything about MAC. Ok, but still I have a lot to learn from. What really amaze me? The iWeb. I'm a blogger and I also do a podcast for people who want to learn Malay. I used GarageBand to make my podcast and after finish it, with one click I can transfer my podcast to my iWeb. It's very easy as A,B,C.

I did say that I have an iPhone. It pair with my MAC. With MobileMe, I can store my address book, document, and emails inside MobileMe. So, I won't worry if my data will lost. And the best thing is, recently in MobileMe, you can detect where your phone if you lost it. How amazing it is. i know, you want to know more right?

In my MAC, I can use Words, Excel, Power Point and etc that every PC user said that I can't have it in my MAC. They are totally wrong. And to spice up a little bit, this Word, Excel for MAC is even much better that PC. I totally mean it. Hey, it's not the best thing yet. There's more my MAC can do.

Searching for file and document is easy. With the "SPOTLIGHT", I can search everything if I forgot where I put my document. And do you know that in MAC, you can view your file as ICON,LIST,COLUMN and COVER FLOW. My friend always awe with the cover flow view when I show them. It did change the way I think about MAC and I'm glad that it did to my friend to. When someone ask me what is so special about MAC? And I will say, everything is special. From the inside and outside. Now, I don't have to worry about virus, lost of data and heavy notebook to carry around.

Why MAC is expensive? Because it worth every penny. I don't regret at all. I do believe that consumer need something that work perfectly but hey, good thing not come in a cheap price. Throw all your thought about "MAC IS FOR DESIGN PEOPLE". MAC is for everyone. It can suit to a geek who know everything about MAC and to a NOOB who don't know anything about MAC like me.

I started to use Mac as there is a Mac culture in the design industry. I took the plunge to have an iBook as a learning tool to prepare myself for the real world outside. But still back then, the Mac is just a computer too me, no different from PC as I am still doing my design on the desktop PC.

Indeed when I'd stepped into design working environment, everything runs on Apple and Mac, and I felt glad that the iBook purchase was a correct decision. An old eMac was given to me to accomplish works from webdesign to printart during my course of internship. Suprise suprise! I cannot believe how powerful this low speed eMac is compare to the computer at my home. That is the time that I know Gigahertz doesn't mean everything. But more, how come just a 1GB RAM allows me to run Photoshop, Illustrator and Quarkexpress together so smoothly? Memory management in Mac OSX is amazing. How bout Expose? Having runs different apps at the same time with so many workfiles was such a headache without it. My workfiles are all images and graphics, Expose allows me to easily identify the file I'm looking for visually rather than reading texts and filenames. Hey I''m a designer, I'm good with graphics not words. Working as a team require me to share files with my colleagues all the time. Networking among Mac system is snapping easy! I can even search for file that I need from other Mac quickly.

The iBook used to be a toy to me. Not anymore after spending 20 hours a day with the eMac. Mac have become part of my life. Part of my love for art and design.

And that was my experience 3 years ago, working in Mac OSX 10.3 Panther. With Snow Leopard and Intel-based Macs the experience are even greater. I never look back since then. Whether it's Vista or Windows 7, it doesn't matter anymore. I have found what I wanted.

It's weird sometimes how often we labour ourself when we try so simplify things. We always find ways to make our life easier. Find quickest solution to a problem. Working less while gaining more.

But when we work on a PC, WE WORK FOR THE PC. When I work on a Mac, THE MAC WORKS FOR ME.
