iPhone users on the optus iPhone caps can now benefit from optus' own dedicated app!

not only you can view your usage (calls, texts, data et cetera) real time, review previous bills, but also pay your bills via the app! pretty impressive nod.gif nod.gif nod.gif

however, this app will only be available on the australian app store (for obvious reasons)

and yes, it is free!

disclaimer: i know this app ought to be in the app related thread, but seeing that it is only available in the australian app store, i reckon that it is best placed here.

coles has launched its own dedicated app and i quote from its website;

QUOTE
Plan your shopping, discover delicious new recipes and stay informed of all the latest weekly specials with Coles ShopMate for iPhone.

Coles Shopmate combines the convenience and range of your local Coles supermarket with a host of powerful take-anywhere features unique to the iPhone.

more information can be found here

here is the direct link

as mentioned previously, this app is only available in the australian app store!

rumours are hot on whirlpool forum that, iPhones (3G & 3GS) will be included during the sale!

this will make the prices extremely lucrative!

- power button is uneven and slightly lower on the left side
- rattle in the phone when shaken, though I've been told that this is caused by the compass

*
no such thing IMHO.

it is more likely to be either your silent or volume control toggle.

my first unit had that problem, but subsequent units (yes plural) didn't pose that problem

I think I can officially pronounce my iPhone dead. It just won't get pass the low battery sign. It was actually fully charged the morning before it decided to give up. I sent a couple of text messages, left it on my table to do my stuff and when I returned, it just wouldn't turn on any more. I left it hooked up to the charger for hours in an attempt to resuscitate it. No luck. It's dead. Totally.

I made an appointment with the Genius Bar tomorrow in Chadstone and I'm just wondering in such a case like mine, would they replace one for me? And if they do, do they replace one on the spot or I'll have to go back another day? Sigh.
*
this has happened to me before.

they will replace it on the spot for you BUT you will need an appointment first.

you MUST have an appointment and you can arrange for one here

Added on December 14, 2009, 9:17 pmsorry i didn't read that part.

since you already have an appointment, then you are good to go. be punctual as my previous one almost got cancelled because i was 5 minutes late.

apple store australia has already slashed the prices for their 3GS variants (in an attempt to clear off unwanted stocks?)

link here.

to refresh everyone's memory;

iPhone pricing WAS:

* iPhone 3G 8GB – $719
* iPhone 3GS 16GB – $879
* iPhone 3GS 32GB – $1040

iPhone pricing NOW:

* iPhone 3G 8GB – $719
* iPhone 3GS 16GB – $799 (a drop of $80)
* iPhone 3GS 32GB – $879 (a drop of $161)

prices are in AUD

@ tinkerbel

I can't be a hypocrite i.e' pot calling the kettle black, to blindly open new threads right?

besides, this thread is still perfectly fine and serves its purpose.

anyway don't worry so much; you are afterall, in the 'special' list laugh.gif

yup,just certain telco..i think u need to pay around AUD$50-$125 to get it unlocked by telco..
IIRC,only iphone from vodafone and telstra need to pay...
but might as well u get it straight from Apple store rather than telco if u duwan tie into contract right?
*
not to mention, for outright units from apple, you get to claim GST (1/11) too!

ha ha.

not everyone like us, glued to forums 24/7?

yes, their plans are getting more bang for your money

the painful part is parting with AUD150 to unlock your iPhone.

thats too expensive...
but i thought after out of contract then can get free for unlocked right?
*
nope. flat chance of that happening.

it'll only be waived if you are an existing telstra customer WITH other telstra products (for example telephone, broadband, tv et cetera)

even so, you will need to do some haggling as well

@nokia2003,
Am seeing most countries getting officially unlocked phones; from UK to Canada now.. perhaps and hopefully Singapore will follow suit; that way I've less "logistic" issues to worry about but am still banging on AU launch - UK contact's not coming back anytime soon *siGh*
*
no worries.

but IMHO it is unlikely for singapore to sell them outright (unless it is a telco initiative) because Singapore doesn't have an official apple store.

the uk and canada do.

but I'll definitely wait for the Australian launch because it is being subsidised by the telco and most importantly warranty (remember how many iPhones in my case)? rolleyes.gif
