you might have to pay a termination fee.

anyway i really cannot comment much because it is up to the discretion, on whom you speak to.

try checking the whirlpool forum for different experiences.

rumours are hot that the release date is either on the 21st or 23rd July.

it is more likely to be on 23rd (a Friday and hence the subtle hint)

and something about apple store staffs to report duty at 7am on that day and not allowed to take the day off.

The great tease

to those were not here during the 3GS launch last year, here is a little recap.

cellular providers (for example optus) will typically launch the iPhones at midnight on the night of launch.

hence for example, if the announced date is 23rd July. you can start lining up on the night of 22nd July.

of course these are only applicable to those who wants to open/resume a postpaid contract with the respective cellular providers.

apple stores on the other hand will probably open at 8am on the launch date.

this fact is important to those who wants to purchase outright and unlocked units.

of course it is important to note that you also sign up for a cellular carrier postpaid contract in the apple store itself

yes. contract is optional at the apple retail store.

outright purchases and unlocked units are only available from here; no exceptions.

for store purchases, you can either use local or foreign issued credit cards. no issues with that.

cash purchases may be restricted and hence i would strongly advice that you stick to cards.

a friendly reminder if you intend to claim the 1/10 GST from the airport prior to your departure; the name on the tax invoice/proof of purchase/receipt (derived from the credit card used to pay your iPhone) must match the name on your boarding pass and passport.

yes. we will need to reload/top up the debit card with sufficient funds before heading to the store

try university market place. students are trying desperately to sell theirs off.

i have seen a few on mine a few weeks ago.

or else, eBay or gumtree.

not sure if this constitutes as spam/redundant news, but the official iPhone 4 release by apple Australia & the Australian cellular carriers has to be announced by this Friday or a launch delay will be inevitable.

so fingers crossed

i was in telstra last week to convert my iPad microsim into a regular prepaid sim card, and the bloke attending to me, told me that he will participating in a workshop/training on the iPhone 4 on monday i.e. three days ago.

so the networks are doing some sort of preparation at the moment

for the iPad, the queue started at 4am in chadstone

so i reckon for the iPhone 4 (which is so scarce), the line will probably start much earlier?
