Please take note that the website provided by Singtel is not a pre-order page. It is only for consumers with interest with the 3GS to fill in their email so that they can receive the first hand news. Therefore this really makes us wonder if Singapore will have the 3GS on 9th July? Or it shall be the same story as Maxis, which basically will drag till end of July/early August.
*
i have just clicked the SingTel website, and you are absolutely right.

it is not a pre-order invitation, it is merely a treat to harness interest amongst prospective candidates.

Also, the box is 20% smaller compare to the iPhone 3G's box. The top cover also don't have the sponge to protect your phone, Apple is really cutting cost.
*
well to be honest, i don't really care about the smaller box.

it is not like that i'm bringing the box along with my iPhone (hold the phone, it sounds like a good idea actually) tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif

you guys look upon that oleophobic screen too greatly. it is not a product from the future you know?

it just another "type" of screen and is not much different from the rest.

it is NOT fingerprint resistant (can you imagine what will happen if such product actually exists; that doesn't leave any fingerprints? we can all commit criminal offence without being caught) and it only makes it easier to clean if the screen comes into contact with oil based products (instead of leaving those circular moody marks around the screen)

Just received the super slim super sexy Mophie Juice Pack Air from Jacquie just now. Shiny shiny! Compliments the 3G[S] perfectly!

Next up will be the TruePower iV from her, getting it on Sunday once I'm back from Osaka. Highly recommend Jacquie for her items, professional and patient as well. Jacquie, if you're reading this, I really appreciate your patience with me, I am a little impatient when it comes to my things. tongue.gif notworthy.gif

Once I get all three of the extended battery packs, I'll probably do a comparative review between the three. Stay tuned!

Also, Harmeet bro, your cash is with your bro. We went together to meet Jacquie just now. biggrin.gif

hold the phone, is this Jacquie seller, chantique or not first?

well, i have to admit that to a certain degree, the battery life in 3G S is better than its predecessor.

however, as i have discussed with tinkerbel, i will still be getting this as a backup, nevertheless

Actually Singtel is the same thing - god knows when..
They sent a teaser to us who registered in their website for "first hand" details about the pricing and launch..
Basically I am just not happy with the teaser that was sent by the company's vice president without any single bit of information that we have not yet known..
Just wasting resources..
*
ahhh... you there. if you reckon that is a waste of resources, then you certainly don't know how the business world works.

teasers (not just applicable to iPhones), basically are there to harness interest from the public.

and from there, speculations will start to grow and next thing you know, the hype comes in. glamour shares/stocks (during the colonial times) work exactly on the same basis

part of marketing gimmick and is far from "wasting resources"

thanks stringfellow for the notice.

just a gauge of the processor power of 3G S, i'm currently typing this, listening to music and installing 3 app updates, over the 3G network without any lag at all.

hi everyone,
i'll be in Italy and France this coming weekend onwards,do you think it's wise to buy the Unlocked iPhone 3GS there instead of waiting it to be available in Malaysia?
but i'm not sure whether is it cheaper to buy there? theoretically,it should rite?
once it reached Malaysia,i'm sure the price will be further markup.

appreciate some advice....many thanks
*
your guess is as good as mine.

even until this now, everything has been subjected to speculation.

however, it is always at a network's best interest, not to sell a new generation iPhone on prepaid (aka outright) for the initial bit, as they tend to reap more via contract.

hence, by the time, it reaches our shores (assuming that you are not keen on the contract bit, seeing that you have the intention to purchase an outright unit), you might need to stall your desires a little while more.

2490 is reasonable for a new customer
its the way maxis put the plans for existing customers that pisses me off

for existing customer they should give more incentive but this is like a smack on our faces zzz
*
erm what are you expecting? you signed a contract and it plays the exact role intended.

it is at maxis best interest to sign up as many new customers as they can.

Ha - it's FUD (fear, uncertainty and doubt) from Maxis la. Basically the iPhone is an unlocked phone, just like any phone you buy from the street in Malaysia. Only diff is that, the iPhone is preconfigured with settings to go online with iPhone (WAP settings), and they did not load other operator's settings into the iPhone (e.g. Celcom, DiGi).

The workaround is very easy, you can always enter those settings manually. Hope this helps.
*
bear in mind that network can indeed disable phones (even though this is unheard of, in malaysia)

hence by putting a disclaimer like that, you are agreeing to maxis' T & C and if they do decide to act upon it, their actions are sanctioned and legit.

i heard that once we convert our initial prepaid number to postpaid, even after your contract ends.. you cant convert your number back to prepaid (hotlink) anymore.. is that true?

p/s: i went thru all the pages and i think my question is not mentioned (hopefully)
*
not true. before leaving malaysia for my studies, i was previously on contract with maxis. however a month or so, before departure, i converted the postpaid to hotlink and it is still active until now.

The other option to "run" away from this data usage nightmare is to use Celcom 3G which capped at 5GB. But problem is not sure how's their speed and coverage.
*
having tested maxis and celcom mobile broadband around my place of residence (TTDI, KL), they have both performed satisfactorily.

i'm inclined to believe that the celcom coverage around the outskirts, is better than maxis'

singapore is not part of the apple retail store chain.

there are only premium resellers in the island

all warranty claims are being handled by SingTel. you are more than welcome to inspect their T & C (unless they have changed their 2 months ago)

But the stupid thing, even when they told me to, to go my Hello Station center in Bangsar, the staff there didn't know a thing and couldn't process my booking fee.......
Bladdy heck. Don't care, will do it in Gardens and see if I can still pick up at Hello Center on the 31st.
*
i was just discussing this with tinkerbel recently.

this maxis is quite unbelievable to be honest. i know that they wanna keep everything in secrecy and generate all the hype amongst the malaysian public, but at least have the courtesy to inform your agents/dealers (or least the manager in charge)

-1 to maxis in regards to this.
