persian must have flat face isnt? both look thr same i guess. thank you for the info cutiepie:)
*
Yes, you are right.
Persian features are flat.
Usually for show, the higher the nose the better.
People call high peak (high nose) and low peak (slightly dropped)
To tell high peak is the nose position is just in between the eyes.
Drop nose means that the nose is below the eyes like normal cats.

juz now she hide behind my desk and take a snap...

i think so
now her hair always stick on my shirt

cat have a molting period rite?

Cats fur will usually drop just like human hair.
That is why it is very important for us to feed them with premium food to avoid shedding of fur.
Low quality food which has high content of salt will cause hair to drop.

Cats also tend to shed fur when they are :-

1) stressed and frightened
2) not getting quality/premium food
3) hot weather
4) skin problem

That is why those who have long haired cats must groom their cats on a regularly basis to avoid the fur sticking to clothes or dropping on to the floor.

If you want to maintain a good and healthy and shiny fur, give your cats supplement e.g. fish oil. This will make your cats coat shiny, healthy, less dropping and soft.

I used to go for long haired and fluffy cats but now I prefer Exotic Shorthairs!
I just love their chubby round faces, round eyes and flat nose biggrin.gif
You are right Mecharojak... beauty is in the eyes of the beholder!
No descrimation to other cats though.
Its just that flat nose are my favourite although I love other cats the same.

hi there, this is my cat, princess. he was given to me by my friend after my last cat was dead in a fight. huhu. he is 3 months+ my friend said it is a persian cat. he had like 2 stripes of black fur on top of his head. very active and he is not vaccinated or dewormed. is it necessary to vaccinate and dewormed? what happen if it is not?
*
Beautiful cat however sorry to inform you that in the cat world your cat would be known as a Domestic Long Hair but it looks like a Domestic Medium Hair as the fur is not too long.

Yes, you must vacinate your kitten as there are many diseases that are fatal to cats. Fortunately, we have the ability to prevent many of these by the use of very effective vaccines. In order to be effective, these vaccines must be given as a series of injections. Ideally, they are given at about 6-8, 12, and 16 weeks of age, but this schedule may vary somewhat depending on several factors.

The routine vaccination schedule will protect your kitten from five diseases: feline distemper, three respiratory organisms, and rabies. The first four are included in a combination vaccine that is given at 6-8, 12, and 16 weeks old. Rabies vaccine is given at 12 weeks of age. The Leukemia vaccine and Feline Immunosuppressive Virus vaccines are appropriate for any cat that goes outdoors or is in contact with an outdoor cat. These deadly diseases are transmitted by contact with other cats, especially when fighting occurs. A vaccine is also available for protection against feline infectious peritonitis (FIP), an uncommon disease that is most likely to occur in groups of cats or in outdoor cat. A Bordetella vaccination may be necessary for your kitten if you have a dog at home, will be boarding or grooming your kitten or cat or if your cat comes home with an upper respiratory problem. Many of these recurring respiratory problems in spite of medication are caused by this disease and an intranasal vaccination can be a great preventative!

The mother’s immunity is of benefit during the first few weeks of the kitten's life, but, at some point, this immunity fails and the kitten must be able to make its own long-lasting immunity. Vaccinations are used for this purpose. As long as the mother's antibodies are present, vaccinations do not "take" or provide protection. The mother's antibodies will neutralize the vaccine so the vaccine does not get a chance to stimulate the kitten's immune system. This is why multiple vaccines are needed in kittens.

Cats are like humans and must go through the vacinations required. This is to ensure that your kitten will grow into a healty cat thumbup.gif

It is also very important to deworm your kitten as intestinial parasites are common in kittens. Kittens as early as 2 weeks are to be dewormed. If your cat's appetite changes or it develops diarrhea, those are some possible indicators of a worm ailment. A dull coat of fur or the growth of a pot-belly are other indicators. In addition, if you ever see your cat feed on the feces of another creature, you might as well be prepared to go through a deworming of your cat.

for Guffy , i nid to feed her with wet food until she reach 2 month? but she will finish the biscuits when i mix with wet food  laugh.gif
hahaha..ya , finally i no nid worry anymore.

actually last time i bring her to vet, doctor gv me a deworm medicine, keep feed her twice per day.
will bring her to vet next month >.<
*
I don't recommend that you feed her with wet food all the time as she will get used to it and wont want to eat kibbles at a later stage.
What you can do is buy RC Baby Cat 34 as the kibbles size is small and easy to bite for those kittens age 4 months and below.
Once the teeth are strong then you can change to any other brand of kitten food until Guffy reaches one year old and then you can change to adult food.
You can still give her wet food but maybe as a weekend treat like I do to my cats.

juz wonder y not recommend feed wet food for long term? blink.gif
ok,when i move house will do this for her  drool.gif
but cat is no need rice? i saw from other forum..
*
Because wet food spoils faster in our hot weather when left out too long.
If kibbles you can put the food out for a few hours.
ANd kibbles more convenient.

I found that my Luna (now almost 4 months old) changed his personality abit, he is now not really a playfull as before, he demand a lot of food, and sometimes he's calling as if he wants something, but i cant figure out what....

he is an indoor cat, i usually will take him for a little walk around the compound, he seems to enjoy that, but then i wonder if he is lonely? how to know if a cat needs companion?
*
I think Luna is going into puberty and that is the reason why he is changing.

Hey guys i just found a kitten yesterday while going for a jog. It was kinda shivering/scared so i brought it home. I did wait for it's mother but no one came. It's going to rain anyway i'm scared if anything will happen so i brought it home. So today i bought the Whiskers baby wet food and kitty milk but it doesn't wanna drink/eat it? Please help me. I'm afraid anything bad gonna happen if it continues starving. sad.gif
*
Hi Mayday7,

What a kind hearted soul you are for saving the little kittens live.
Kudos to you!
Don't worry about the kitten not eating.
Its normal as the kitten is still afraid and not used to its new surroundings.
Give it one or two days and it will start to eat.

Guys, my cat uh, seems fine lately after we finally manage to heal it up. But I notice that, it does not like to lick itself like other cats does. Its fur is somewhat always messy, and it always gets itself real dirty. Its pure white but always ends up gray or black. Sigh...needing to clean her up almost every single day. Is there any way I can train her to keep herself cleaner?
*
Well... if she does not like to groom herself then you have to do it for her since she is a long haired cat.
Brush her fur everyday so that it does not get matted.
As for dirty it depends whether she is an indoor or outdoor cat.
If outdoor then of course she will get dirty fast.
I too have a pure white domestic long hair and he too gets dirty very fast eventhough he is 100% indoors.
Thing is he loves to sleep in his litter box eventhough a cat bed was provided for him doh.gif
I usually bathe him once in every two weeks but after being neutered he is less dirty now.

I need some help Cat experts. My cat's belly seems to be growing this last few months. It can't be pregnant because I've had it spayed. Could it be that its eating too much or that its sick?
It doesn't seem to act like its sick or anything though. Eats like normal, manja's like normal and sleeps like normal.
*
Could it be its getting fatter?
How long ago did you have it spayed?
Usually cats male or female will grow fatter after being spayed or neutered.
If you feel that is abnormal..... then better bring it to the vet for a check up.
Prevention is better than cure my friend.
Good Luck.

hi... i very need help. my DLH got 5 kittens.. but there were some kitten lost some of the fur.. what should i do?? plus animal clinic too far from my home..
*
First of all how old are your kittens?
Secondly does the part where the fur is loss looks round and have dry skin around it?
Is the fur loss in patches?
If yes.... then your kittens are suffering from ringworm / fungus.
This is common in kittens.
You will need to purchase Malaseb shampoo and bathe your kittens at least 3 times in a week until you see small little hairs growing back.
Remember to bathe them in warm water and then quickly dry them after the bath.
You will also need to bath the mother cat and any cat in the household to stop it from spreading.
Then mop your whole house with diluted clorex and water.
This is to kill the fungal spores.
Remember to wash your hands after handling the cats as you can also get ringworm!

Glad to hear that.
Usually cats that are spayed or neutered will get very fat and big after their operation.
Must not get them obesed.

Was told that cats does not like the smell of vinegar or pepper.
Try spraying some vinegar around the pots or put some pepper around the pots.

QUOTE(Dr Jan Itor @ Dec 18 2010, 10:36 AM)
Feeling like shit at the moment. My cat of 12 years has been diagnosed with FIP virus. According to the doc, its chances of survival are next to none as its an old cat and I should prepare for its departure. At most it has about 2-3 weeks to live. I'm thinking of putting it to sleep to spare it from misery. It pains my heart to see it in this way. Its like a family member is dying...I have not shed tears for a very long time (the last when my grandfather passed away) but yesterday after hearing the news I just broke down sobbing. Damn that virus, why did my kitty have to end up this way....Sighh
*
Hi Dr. Jan Itor,

I am so sorry to hear your cat having FIP.
I know that you are going through a hard time making that decision as I went through the same thing as you did.
Having to decide to put to sleep your loved one.
It was a very hard decision for me to make and after consulting with friends I finally made the decision to end my cats misery as he too had FIP and could not be saved.
I cried for 3 whole days and did not want to eat and could not help thinking about him.
His pet carrier is still with the clinic (after two years) as I could not go through picking up the carrier without him.
Please be brave in times like this.
Take care my friend.
