Bro you are on the right track in getting a card that gives you automative annual fee waiver. Some cards have conditions like you must swipe 12 times a year to get waiver on annual fees like Alliance where as EON bank you need to swipe 6 times for classic card. Alliance bank CC not to bad because you get cash back AND reward points that does not have expiry period.

If you pay your bill on time and in full then you don't have to pay a single sen more than you spend. Since your credit limit would most probably be higher than your monthly income, you must practice to never spend more than you can afford or else you will end up like millions of Malaysians working for the banks. Having said this, the credit given with CC does come in handy in emergency situation.

Bro, even if you only spend RM200 on petrol a month it comes out to be RM2400 a year and if you can get 1% cash back you get RM24 free money. If you have insurance. phone bills, TNB, quit rent or whatever monthly'yearly expenses, charge it to the card and get cash back also. Also with CC you can get 0% installement plan but when having these kind of plans you have to be smart and not pay more than normal market price.

Another option is debit card where you get the convenience of paying just like CC. Public Bank just introduce a new debit card called Day2Day where they give 1% rebate on grocery and petrol up to December and subsequently 0.8% and the annual fees is RM12.

Anyway, DA not that great lah, the points redemption is so so and got to pay for courier charges.

Bro ... let me lay it down for you since you have (it seems) narrowed down your preferences.
1. AllianceBank younique
2. AllianceBank CashBack cards
3. SCB Titanium JustOne

* Note please check your income eligibility. My take is don't care about whether got auto AF waiver - when the time comes (if they charge you AF), call CS and inquire for waiver. If they don't want to give you, cancel card and then reapply again. There are enough cards out there in the market to compete with one another.
*
thanks bro. will check on the other 2 cards

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Jun 22 2009, 07:31 PM)
Aiyo, why so lazy never go Alliance website to check? Yes you need to swipe 12 times for You:nique card for free AF. See below link

https://younique.alliancebank.com.my/pop_rebate.html

From above link you will note that Alliance You:nique cash back applies to all retail purchases including petrol. Also note that it will cost you RM38 to put your personalize picture on the card (which I feel it is just waste of money).

Well go ahead and get You:nique if you think you will swipe 12 times a year as it will be free. If there is an Alliance bank near you, better still for convenience when making payment.

In respect to your question "any other better card?"....... there is no one card that is the best or better than the other. If you have the time, click on my signature below to read my comments on CC.
*
heheh thank you very much.. one more question. in the 12 times swipe are there a minimum charge for each time? if one month i pump petrol 6 times, each time i put RM30 le? lol. den two months already 12 swipe already lor. LOL. i read ur CC101 before oh..
one more last question... LOL.

there is no minimum amount for a swipe, it depends on the merchant. And the 12 swipe requirement is within a year. Say you never use the card for 11 months and on the final month you swipe 12 times you automatically get annual fee waiver.

The income requirement is gross RM18K per year which includes bonuses and deduction for EPF, SOCSO & blah blah blah. You just have to proof your income is RM18K or more in a year and not necessarily just your salary. Just go to the branch and ask the officer what documents you need to submit with your application since this is your first CC. After you get 1 CC, very easy to get more. Maybe you should start by applying for CC with the bank where you have savings/FD account.
*
urm... but my working experience still not reach 1yr wor. how? i thought need 3 month pay slip enough already?? i only got maybank saving account and and hong leong bank but never use for few years already.. why start applying CC with the bank i have?
QUOTE(ellimist @ Jun 22 2009, 10:54 PM)
The income requirement generally relates to your gross salary, which is before deduction of the various bla bla blas as you put it =p

Yea, you can pop by any branch and apply. And no, you don't need a bank account with the bank to apply.
*
thank you. smile.gif so if salary = 1.5k havent deduct anything * 12 = 18k can apply lo? show my latest 3 month payslip enough edi or not? and other requirement??

I do not have younique but I have normal alliance visa card, but it should be the same, the rebate is on all transaction including petrol but remember it is up to 2%, not really 2% on all transaction. The average is about 1.3% if you spend RM5k per month.
I have JustOne. Its should be on the day of transaction.
*
urm.. 5k per month only get 1.3%?? lol. if i spend RM0.5k a month how many % rebate do i get averagely ah? urm now bank dun open on saturday anymore.. got any alliance bank booth in shopping mall this coming weekend ah? i know applying CC require payslip. may i know how many month payslip require? and my company only issue me the normal A4 paper payslip. still can apply?

Don't give up. It was your 1st ever cc application anyway. You may try to apply through other banks with lower requirements, such as DA/CIMB, if you are qualified.
*
hurm wondering why im not qualify to apply it le.. my salary over RM18k le..

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Jul 16 2009, 10:09 PM)
Wah, very efficient one week already get letter. Call them and ask and maybe you'll get an answer. Like winner mentioned, go apply for other cards. Or if you bank with HLB, they do issue card with one of their accounts (smartlink or something like that).
*
if i can back to the person that handle me that day do u think she can answer why i cant get my card..?? HLB ah? i got HLB acc but no $$ de tongue.gif any other cards for lower qualification?

No one but the bank can tell U Y ur application was rejected.  Eh could it be that U didn't give them sufficient documents?  Sometimes that can be a reason for rejection biggrin.gif

It is possible U didn't give them sufficient documentations?

QUOTE(hye @ Jul 20 2009, 04:55 PM)
Standard answer from the banks. At least the lady entertained you as normally they will just brush you away with the "Management decision to decline your application and the answer is P&C". Different banks got different policy for reapplication period - no need to get so rejected just because 1 bank decline you. I suggest you to apply other banks, maintain good customer standing and after 1 year you can use your card as reference to apply for other banks.

It takes years to build a good credit history with banks .... not overnight unless you got plenty of cash to lock into FD.

FYI, it took me about 3 years before SCB finally accepted my as their cc customer. Used the card for a while, cancel it and then reapply after some time later. So if you got declined for your 1st card, it is not the end of the world. Alliance bank is just one of the 9 anchor banks in Malaysia not to mention HSBC, Citibank and OCBC as the foreign contender in the cc market. (You have 11 alternatives not inclusive of BSN, Bank Rakyat and Bank Islam's cc offerings)

Walk away if a bank decline you and apply somewhere else. It is that simple, you shouldn't have problems if you don't have bad debts somewhere.
*
@tinkerbel hurm i gave them 3months payslip, 1ea, and 1epf. still not sufficient??

@hye thanks for the reply smile.gif

okie now i wan to apply other card edi. i plan to go for DA CIMB but then i dont meet the requirement le. or can you guys give me some suggestion for rebate card?? back to DA, what is my chances to get it? 1%? and i saw in the DA website can apply online, is it safe?? and do i miss out anything if i apply online? i also went to cimb bank today the man told me that the normal cimb also got rebate is that true? i check the web not rebate info also..

CIMB Petronas got 2% rebate at petronas service station and 0.5% Rebate on other retail transaction.
CIMB Islamic don't have rebate, it have point system.
*
thanks smile.gif

QUOTE(winner @ Jul 22 2009, 08:08 PM)
I understand that you don't have a degree. In that case, it's better if you apply for CIMB instead of DA, because one of the important documents required by DA is degree cert.
*
u mean cimb petronas right??but i dun pump petronas LOL. if i apply this card mean got rebate = no rebate =/ can suggest any other card? if really no other choice den i try to apply the CIMB petronas since im not qualify to apply DA... cry.gif
