In order words IPS produce better pic quality than TN? any other nice model recommendation for IPS LCD?

Dell S2209WA is the cheapest e-IPS panel I have seen. Though it only has a max resolution of 1680x1050. But for that price, it's a killer.

CNET tigerdirect 3dgameman and even other good review site always tell TN panels are best for Games and movies as its response time is good IPS only differece is viewing angle is good but do you watch it at 179 degree?? its already mentioned its for professionals whats the most professional thing you have done tell me? its about how you look on the lcd not even 15 ppl watching together on do you care about also

You make solid points.

But I would counter by saying that not everyone is a FPS or racing junkie. And response times are subjective to the people in question. Some may notice ghosting whilst others might be blissfully unaware of it as it happens before their very eyes. My hypothesis is, if you cant see it, you wouldn't be bothered by it. Also, some of us, me for example, really enjoy getting the most out of our money. And if that means a top of the line IPS panel to enjoy full HD entertainment such as Blu-Ray playback or even RPG and adventure games with breathtaking graphics, then so be it.

Ghosting is only pretty much limited to FPS and racing games where the frames rendered tend to come thick and fast. Plus, IMO, if you can locate any ghosting in newer TN panels, then the only better option would be a CRT, and that will be a huge downgrade, wont it?

As for the color reproduction part, when you compare a TN and IPS panel side by side, you will notice quite a difference. And seeing as most LCDs out there are TN anyway, that will make you enjoy your IPS panel all the more. So, it isn't only for professionals. It also caters to the demanding consumer. Just my many cents. tongue.gif

Just replace another unit U2410 from dell...now pink tint issue occur on my left lower corner. Seem its not a great time yet to purchase this monitor.

After compare with this 2nd monitor, 1st monitor having serious color calibration problem. All the preset color mode is out of order. And i see purple color rather than the original blue color in some color code.

Hi. I'm new here.
Want to ask bout my CRT.
(Cant find any CRT Thread here. Don't shoot me ar. laugh.gif)

Here's my situation:

I have 2 pairs of PCs. One is super old P3 CPU with Acer 15" mia CRT. Another one is P4 with Samsung SyncMaster 793DF. Till recently, I brought only my CPU back from my hostel (My samsung left at hostel) Then, two CPU shares the Acer 15". When my dad wants to use his comp, he plug out the vga from my cpu and put into his. Vice versa.

Then, last month, out of sudden the Acer crt went blank and i smelt smoke. Quickly turned off and cant open ever since.
Later, I brought back my Samsung from my hostel and continued to sharing the monitor.

Then, now.. The monitor sometimes turn blank, or sometimes all the settings to set the brightness, contrast, length, width etc all lari.. sometimes the colour turn black with purple and green (like the film negative). The worse case: screen turned black with some random curvy lines moving and the monitor's power indicator (yellow LED) blinking so fast. May be 2 times a second.

At first, I will just need to press monitor's Off button and leave it for few seconds. It will restore to normal. But now, even I plug out the VGA cable and power cable and put back, also useless. Got to try so many times then only okay.

What happen to my monitor ar? It's working perfectly when I used it at my hostel. Am suspecting is it the super old P3 spoiled the monitor. hmm.gif

Oh yeah. Want to ask, where can service / fix CRT ar? I asked the pc shop at my place. He told, lots of them retired liao. Didnt hear ppl fixing CRT for quite sometime summore. Any suggestions?

Well, the S2209W has better screen resolution. But the S2209WA has better colors, viewing angles and all the other bonuses attributed to IPS panels.

Also, I'm not quite sure if you can find a Dell monitor for sale anywhere else other than their website. Sans refurbished or second hand models that is.

@Above;
You may want to consider the Dell S2209W yourself. 21.5" with good quality for its price, which is slightly above 500.

Good metaphor. But I'd rather go for the Dell in this case, seeing as it really has good picture quality. That and Dell always honors their warranties promptly.

Plugging and unglugging VGA is not a good idea.... use a KVM or a video switch.... either get a 2nd hand CRTs... or get a LCD (with a vga switch) or 2.

Time for CRT to die
