Personally, I think that Ballack was great in this match. He had a few good runs and basically, he's running all around the pitch.
One more thing, did we resize the pitch?

QUOTE(madfag @ Aug 30 2009, 04:15 AM) oh darn it. its so sad to see sheva leaving. fact; QPR's the only team who's got rich billionaire owners and yet still play shit football hehe essien was awesome and i think drogba deserved to stay until the game ends. he doesnt look very pleased when he was called off instead of anelka. i for one think that drogs was on better form compared to anelka. anelka should have been subbed. if there was a need, which there wasnt. maybe carlo just wanted kalou to have some playing time. he was so relaxed, sitting on the gatorade ice box. lol. overall, i think the whole team did great. our midfield was really solid, winning back possession and so creative on the attack. in short, we owned the midfield. the only player i saw lacking was belletti. and maybe anelka players that get my praise are lamps with those two assist and drogba who caused all the mayhem up front. and as usual our fullbacks were as good as they always are. UP THE BLUES! Added on August 30, 2009, 4:16 am yeah i saw it half time i think. or was it fulltime before the pooler's game. anyways, anyone got stats on QPR? how are they doing in the championship? ooh what an enjoyable game last night! lovely to watch from the very first minute. even lovelier after we got the first goal.
great performances all around, especially in midfield. lamps is still looking for his best position, but still managed two assists. his mistake was almost a game changer though honestly guys, when was the last time we saw essien spraying forward passes with such accuracy? the one for drogba to square to anelka (for the 1st goal) will be hard to match this season i can tell u that. he had other similar gems as well. and i thought he actually looked poor in pre-season! carletto may have managed to unlock another side of his game..or maybe it was there before but just wasn't encouraged by previous coaches either way i'm looking forward to see if he continues in similar vein for the next game! p.s : do u guys thing burnley parked the bus last night? i was too busy enjoying our passing game to really take notice, but it did seem like they 'half-parked' it. |

i dont think burnley really parked the bus either. but with our midfield powerhouse, maybe it seems that way. even the commentator said that they couldnt even get out of their own half.

kudos to burnley then. showed some good incentive in the game but in the end it proved to be their downfall. a lot of lower to mid-table teams will take this as a blueprint of 'how not to play against chelsea at the bridge.' a major disappointment for me though, is not seeing sturridge getting some playing time after we went 3 nil up. couldn't understand the rationale of bringing in mikel at all.
i mean by the time ACN comes around, we'll be left with anelka, sturridge and di santo as our main strikers. di santo is currently sidelined at blackburn and studge has only gotten a 10 minute cameo vs sunderland. correct me if i'm wrong, but aren't we going to lean heavily on him once our african boys pack their bags? our-over reliance on nic and even more so drogba, is beginning to show. with di santo still out, this will be a big worry imo. either carlo isn't hugely impressed by studge, or the italian has another ace up his sleeve. |

QUOTE(retrosnare @ Aug 31 2009, 02:29 AM) park the bus term was coined by JM i think , those days when the opposition come to the bridge , they will defend heavily putting all their players behind the ball to defend hence the term park the bus ( in front of the goal), the bus in this context refers to the team bus which the opposition came in. |

Burnley keeper Jensen: I just saw Blue shirts everywhere
Burnley goalkeeper Brian Jensen admits they were given a lesson by Chelsea on Saturday. "I just saw blue shirts everywhere," he said. "The passing, the movement, the full-backs coming forward, the attacking football. "It was a bit of a footballing lesson for us. "It's great to watch and everyone can see the quality. It doesn't matter who they play, you saw it against Sunderland and Steve Bruce said it was one of the best attacking displays he'd seen. We saw it again and nobody can deny it. "I don't want to say too much because I'm a Man United fan myself but, personally, I think Chelsea are the team to beat so far." source http://www.tribalfootball.com/burnley-keep...erywhere-287741 |

Goodbye Sheva. No matter how small your contribution, thank you. All the best to your career with Dynamo Kiev.

QUOTE(kink_ass @ Aug 31 2009, 03:07 AM) fabio borini anyone? so its confirmed then..anelka, sturridge and di santo as our main goal getters when the ACN commences. i'll feel a bit more confident once joey and yuri are fully fit. pray nico stays injury free.
