QUOTE(Waachaaa @ Mar 7 2011, 09:42 PM)
how come the stock tyre in Kia forte 17 inch is so lousy?
Any recommendation what tyre to change to fully absorb potholes/bump?

Drive through bump also no feeling.
*
???? haha ??? u can't choose much... the 17" most of the thin tires (low profile tires) is like that...
if you want comfort try to use Michelin Primacy LC, Toyo C1S or Toyo T1R or Toyo DRB... find those whom has softer sidewall so it can absorb more bumps...

*** ya you can try GY F1 Asy also... but it is only available at 45 series and below... 215/45 R17 is just in the list...

if that is not enough, then u need to downgrade to 16" as some ppl did also for their Pug 308 also...

Q1 : Try Bridgestone GR90, Yokohama C Drive or new C Drive 2, Toyo C1S or CT01 those are better ones... CC5 is only entry level... others is like 1~2 step above them...

try to fit you Inspira with better tires then you can really see the potential... CC5 is replacement of CC1 it is a normal tires which does not even suitable for spirited driving... grip is no good, handling is no good...

Q2 : cannot... need to follow back the size...

Q3 : don have all PS3 only available at 55 and below... 60 is XM1 or Primacy LC already

Where to find yokohama C drive 2? Anybody know where I can get a second hand Honda stream RSZ rim? Want to put it in my accord. biggrin.gif
*
a lot of place should have stock already... USJ1 Quicksave have stock but limited size...

QUOTE(hamiru @ Mar 9 2011, 06:14 PM)
currently using Bridgestone MY01 195/50/15 on my Myvi. the only good thing i can experience with these tyres is, they stand durable even though i've ran over deep potholes countless of times. but it maybe just a matter of time before reaching the limit. the bad, is its hard sidewall sacrifices the comfort feel, even a slight bump shakes the car too much

for a budget of RM250/pcs, i'm planning to change the tyres that is suitable for my Myvi's stock suspension setup. preferably comfort and, durable enough to withstand potholes as there are too many of them on the road i've been travelling along everyday. maybe i'll go for 195/55/15 size this time, as soft tyres might not be able to give enough impact absorption to protect my rims if i stay with the current size

recommendation please. thanks
*
if you are looking for comfort, 195/55 R15 is better... Falken 912 is nice, RM200/pc but wears a bit faster when you use it like a performance tire... u can try Hankook V12 but it is directional tires, so it might be a lil noisy for you... but since you say MY-01 is ok then V12 should not have any problem... MY-01 sucks la, the grip in wet like float...

QUOTE(Waachaaa @ Mar 9 2011, 08:23 PM)
The only reason why i was opting for CC5 is because when i test drive Inspira, which came with 16inch CC5 and it was so comfort.
When i ran into bump/potholes , you can barely feels anything.

I am not sure which tyre can give the same feeling. Or i shall look for 215/60/R16, i suspect is the 60 sidewall height that absorbs all the bumps

Im looking for both comfort and fuel saving

Should i

A) Change the 5 sets of tyre and 5 sets of rims into 16inch? If yes do they accept trade in?

B) Just change the tyre to 215/60/R17 and remain the rim.

Doing A or B still meets both my requirement above?
*
you cannot fit a R17 tires to a R16 rim and also the opposite... what is your original size...
use 215/60 R16 look for GR90 it is comfort and nice although the price is a lil expensive compare to CC5..

QUOTE(centaurking @ Mar 9 2011, 09:23 PM)
hi guy... i plan to change tire for my wira... any recommend?
size = 185/65/R14
*
185/65 R14??? i thought wira should be 185/60 R14... C Drive or C Drive 2 is nice...

QUOTE(vexus @ Mar 9 2011, 10:50 PM)
hey i'm using 195/55/r15 tyres

if i change to 195/60/r15

what will it cause?

is it safe to use?
*
what is your stock size... if your stock size is 195/50 R15 or 185/55 R15 or 185/60 R14 then change to 195/60 R15 is not advisable because 195/60 R15 is over +/- 3% of your stock size... over 3% it will affect your electronics calculation and also ur ABS braking too...

why you wanna change to 195/60 R15??? not comfort enough on 195/55 R15???

Called Quicksave yesterday and they do have the size. Awesome price for such a good tire too. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(vexus @ Mar 10 2011, 03:04 PM)
my stock tyres is 195/55/r15

195/55/r15 a bit too hard

195/60/r15 - a bit cheaper
*
nah... 195/60 r15 mostly is comfort tires sometimes cheaper does not means similar quality of grip u get from it too... 195/55 R15 u can go for Falken 912, Yokohama C Drive or Michelin Primacy for better comfort... but Hankook V12, Toyo DRB is not that bad for me in terms of comfort but some ppl might felt it is still a lil hard...

QUOTE(samwongjyhhorng @ Mar 10 2011, 03:31 PM)
is possible persona use 17ich rim wit 215/45/17?
*
still ok coz your stock is 195/60 R15 am i correct??? but you might felt a lil underpower coz the 17" rims is more heavier than ur stock 15" and your contact patch is larger so more rolling resistance and make it's FC is poorer also...

QUOTE(hamiru @ Mar 10 2011, 06:27 PM)
MY01 is good for dry i guess

so it's between Falken 912 and Hankook V12 then. will look into it

by the way, is there a calculation whether to determine the percentage of size of new rims+tyres  compared to stock? just to make sure it won't go over 3% increment
*
dry gri... nah... not that good also... only good for handling coz most of the bridgestone tires have slight harder sidewall compare with competitor...

no... it will not... except your tire wear uneven... if you hold ur steering straight it go straight then ur alignment is fine... if u release the hand it pulls to 1 side (steering turn itself) then the tires have uneven wear or the road is slanted to 1 side... normally all the roads is slanted a lil bit to help to water flow to the side and not accumulate at the center...

QUOTE(samwongjyhhorng @ Mar 11 2011, 12:15 PM)
yup.my ori tyre is 195/60/R15..but my fren told me the not too much difference of pick up and fuel comsuption since the 17inch rim more light than stock rim
*
haha... well 17" lightweight rims might be lighter than 15" stock rim... depends...
the FC and also pickup also depends on the power of the car... if 1.6 using 17" surely the effect is more noticeable than 2.0, coz the power of 1.6 is lower and with such a heavy rim and high rolling resistance u need more power to turn the wheel so ur engine need to do more work... that makes you to step ur accelerator more than usual...
then the ride comfort that you enjoy now will be gone, but it will gives you better handling... traction is another say coz it depends much on the tire compound and design... so if you say u are ready to pay RM400 per 17" tires is ok, but u expect it to be below RM300, u will get those ok ok tires lo... so the traction is no good then your safety also affected...

QUOTE(pinkpurlady @ Mar 11 2011, 12:30 PM)
all taiko here,

is there any significant different if OEM rim&tyre 215/45/17, 7j , ET 50
change to same aftermarket rim's size but with ET 40.

in terms of speedo meter, sure it will be remain. how about handling? so far it doesn't rub anything yet.
*
ET i think is offset leh... so not much difference... but make sure the new offset does not clash with any of your parts in the wheel arches... if the tire offset further out the our handling might be better...

hehehe noted that der... if v12 have stock... sure change to 45 lor... just wonder S-Drive good or not?? rm 355 per donut still within budget  if performance worth it..
*
S drive ok ok la, but the noisy is irritating as per feedback... V12 noisy is slightly better, using 2set on different car...

QUOTE(Str33tBoY @ Apr 6 2011, 07:15 PM)
Ya,everyday drive,I think not more den 20k.
*
V12 don wear fast la... Who told??? I use almost 5k mm already still quite ok, my old toy is heavy 1.3 ton with daily spirited drive... Last time got another set on Vios, when I swap to my older ride SEG it was only about 30% used after 10k km used... Now after 1 yr it still left about 40-50% leh...
It is a good buy... Good grip in dry n wet... N it is quite comfort too

QUOTE(allenultra @ Apr 7 2011, 09:16 PM)
Anyone have good experience using tyre for 215/55/R17 size?

Have good tyres across my mind now, the price I found them varies from RM400 to RM515 per piece in Ipoh.

1. Bridgestone Turanza ER33
2. Falken 912
3. Toyo C1S / DRB

Driving style? A bit spiritual but dun expect super noisy tyres though.
*
I prefer c1s or new bridgestone gr90... Or even Michelin ps3 or hankook v12... What do you want from ur tire?
Comfort, Handling or Noise. Which is more important????

QUOTE(frint @ Apr 13 2011, 12:50 AM)
all sifu here..
i plan to change my tires..
Honda City 2007
Any recommendation and price please?
Thank you in advance..

Hmmm new city 185/55 R16 or old city 185/55 R15??? or others size???

QUOTE(xDjWanNabex @ Apr 13 2011, 10:29 PM)
Anyone know where I can get types for my Hyundai matrix at a good price...15 inch I think
*
Is it 195/55 R15??? U can try a few tires. But again same question what do u expect from it??? Comfort, Noise, Handling... which is more important??? U can't have it all in 1 tire...

For both of u... R13 has only limited tires... Michelin is good already... So it is hard to find a same quality as it at that size... Upgrade to 14 inch rim n tires gives u more choice of tires... New yokohama c drive 2 is just out...

QUOTE(yngwie @ Apr 16 2011, 10:31 AM)
answering on behalf oh him . was using re001 on my main ride. i could say very aggressive highway driving. after clocking close to 30k km with about 45% tread left, sold the tire at 90 bucks each, which is well worth it. tire last longer in city driving compare to constant highway driving.
good thing about re001, it doesn't flex during extreme cornering. direct and progressive steering feel too.  as a user of ps3 tire as well, i was surprised re001 give a more composed ride during downpour. perhaps, this is due to re001 being heavier than ps3.
btw, for city driving, i suggest you take a look at ps3, s.drive or v12, they're far more comfortable.

re001's sidewall is just too hard. coupled with a hard suspension, kl road potholes , speed bumps and you may say goodbye to your arm bushes / rubber parts on mounting.. a lot sooner!  smile.gif
*
Good answer... But I'm surprise leh, y all ppl told me v12 n v8rs cannot last???
I think the main reason is the pressure, my 2 set of v12 last leh... The recent set I bought at Jan 11 and now it has not even wear 30% also... My car is heavy hatchback 1.3ton, tire pressure maintain at 35psi and above for front but for the rear is around 32psi...
Maybe they all can drive 40k km half yearly... Not sure...

bro this is what I am looking for bro for my daily driven car. I don't care about comfort and noise, just gimme the grip. I'll just nurse it to and fro work and let it loose sometimes....
*
Well make sure u meant it on the comfort... Cos it is much irritated someimtes it gets too bumpy...

QUOTE(kobe10 @ Apr 16 2011, 12:43 PM)
federal 595 evo good?
*
not bad, but the price is almost same with ps3 at 15" so it makes me takes ps3... And i never regret
But for 16" & 17" it is cheaper than ps3 so I'll give this a try...

Comfort is not that bad, noisy is slightly noisier but the grip is comparable with ps3... Ps3 is a good a llm rounder but the side wall might be a lil soft for some ppl... Federal 595 Evo, is nice tontry though...

a good buy! that is if you can stand the wind noise generated by the tread pattern. not as noisy as
dunlop fm901 which has the similar tread characteristic thou.

*
i totally agree with this... my bro in-law fixed it on his Civic, regret terribly as it generates a lot of noise even though at normal speed (50km/h ~ 100km/h) only...

PP2 is Asymmetric la... it is more quiet...
KU31 is directional... should a slightly more noisy than PP2...
price, i'm not sure woh... last time my fren have Kenari, used both also PP2 is better but KU31 value for $$$$... ur call which to buy lo...

haha... directional tire problem... mine hankook V12 set when fitted to my old toy always run 1 side... after 4 times of swapping they manage to get it running straight... wink.gif
try to ask them to swap 1 side front and rear... if cannot then swap the both front of course have to take off the rim...
no charges apply for me at least when i did complaint when i finish my installation at Teik Ming Sunway...
