If you don mind u can come around this area to survey around... Or u can call teik ming sunway to find out whether the size is available or not...

if you wan a lil comfort and quiet then try GY F1 Asy... if not stick to cheaper solution Hankook V12 a lil comfort but not that quiet after 50% wear... S1 Evo i think is a lil pricey, if u take that y not top up a lil to get PS3 around RM450...

QUOTE(nestum @ Dec 10 2010, 12:52 AM)
with this price u can get yokohama S.drive which is made in japan
rm415/pcs
*
skip S Drive... noisy tires and wet grip is not as good as others... tested by Opel in Germany, it ranks below Michelin PP2, GY F1 Asy, Hankook V12 and some others tooo...

QUOTE(noprob @ Dec 10 2010, 01:00 AM)
whoot .. buy 4 of those can get 5 pieces V12 edi ...
*
yes you are right... PS3 also when u buy 4 u can get 5 at the price for V12... is ur choice...
my 4 pcs of PS3 in 195/55 R15 cost me around RM900~1000 but if i buy Hankook V12 i only pay RM750~800 only so it is RM150~200 gap there, can get another already...

V12 evo price looks cheap there... in my area(sungai petani) i ask 1 shop offer me RM350/pcs included all for 17". sad.gif
while S1 evo cost at RM420/pcs....  sad.gif
*
well 17" should be around RM300 for Klang Valley price... penang, ipoh and ur place should be a lil more expensive... that is wat mostly happen...

QUOTE(jolipoli81 @ Dec 10 2010, 04:21 PM)
guys, how is the federal evo 595 compare to the michelin PS3?
the federal 595 should be noisier compare to PS3 due to the directional thread. How about performance and durability wise?
Some say the PS3 got lower rate compare to the 595
*
who say so??? haha... PS3 is more quiet if you look at the thread, Asymmetric vs Directional... performance is similar but feedback on PS3 so far very positive, am using 1 set now... for the similar price i would prefer PS3 rather than trying out Federal donuts...
PS3 is slightly better than PS2 where it is 1 step higher than 595 Evo...
on the threadwear PS3 is having the better rating too 320 vs 595 Evo 260... so 595 Evo will wears faster than PS3...
my PS3 wears so far so good, much better than PP2 (rated at 280)...

QUOTE(UbuntuClient @ Dec 10 2010, 07:57 PM)
Last time my car fit with Michelin Primacy LC (205/55/16). About a month i use Conti Sport Contact. Seems it use more fuel than Michelin.
*
well Primacy LC is comfort tires and it is green tires so it will has lesser roller resistance... where as if compare to those performance tires, Primacy LC will be more fuel saving... but the grips of the tires is the opposite way, so u get more grip from CSC than LC...

QUOTE(jolipoli81 @ Dec 11 2010, 12:45 AM)
thanks for the info mich.
Anyone using Hankook V8rs? I recently just swap my V12 to the back and V8 to the front, and it seems that my alignment is not accurate, it tends to go left whenever I put my steering straight. I've ask the tyre shop and they say they also encounter alot of similar cases with that V8 tyre, anyone experience this?
*
V8rs is older gen of V12 i think you know of this...
but that is another problem of front back rotation also... your rear wheels might wear unevenly thats all, let it run about 500km to wears it off and see... have this problem b4 also, but it is not purely tires problem but also our suspension system problem... the camber degree affect the tires wears, it is wears outside means possitive (if not mistaken) opposite for wearing inside faster....
so take it easy, let it run-in and see... or you can ask them to swap the both front wheels and see... it might helps... my sifu in ipoh did this b4 and it works, for me at least...

BTW why ask about 595... if you are satisfy with V12 y not stick to it... i used 1 set also but now it is on my family's older ride... it works well for my mom, she went up to Cameron that day and feedback was nice tires good comfort and grips compare to PP2... but she haven try my PS3 yet on curvy roads yet hehe if not she will get poison... cos PS3's grip is good good compare to V12 but its side wall is slightly harder which makes handling is better...

as i remember yours are on PP2 isn't it... try V12 then it should be better... smile.gif of course change back to 205/55 R16 will be much better but if you want to maintain y not try out with the V12 tires 1st... Honda's suspension is know of a lil hard so you can get the sportiness mah...

yaya currently using the 30% thread PP2 which is damm damm noisy and very vibrating when going thru those rough road... rclxub.gif
and i worry the vibration will soon loosen all those "plastic screw" and soon or later the whole car will have wired noise....  laugh.gif
i really fed up with that... ok.. will give the V12 a try 1st smile.gif
*
PP2 is having a hard sidewall change to V12 you can feel the difference, better in comfort...

QUOTE(jolipoli81 @ Dec 11 2010, 10:21 PM)
i did all my suspension setup about a month ago before swapping the front tyres to rear and vise versa. So, suspension could be the least suspect.
My chamber is opened up about 5 degrees on all side, and I believe swapping tyres won't affect the alignment right?

The reason I asked 595 because a friend who doesn't believe on the importance of tyres recently just changed his tyres to 595 and he said it was fantastic, just wondering how 'fantastic' was it  laugh.gif  he probably never use a UHP tyres before, and yet he loves to speed and hardcore driving.
going to change to superpro soon, waiting for the stock to come in
and it is necessary to do alignment when changing steering bush am I right?
*
no it will give you different affect... coz the tire wearing now is uneven where it makes to pulls you to 1 side... i have that problem b4, the Sifu ask them (technician) to swap side (left to right at the front) then problem solved... or you need to wear the tires for a while to wear it back to even... try and see...
well 595 is nothing to shout about, my bro in-law's Civic on 215/45 R17 rubbers damn noisy... cannot really stand it... well hard to say when his setup is different... but i can feel the difference of V12 vs PS3 on my same ride... but for the current Federal 595 Evo price, i still prefer to get PS3 as my replacement... for my older ride i might use Hankook V12 to soften back the hard suspension setup... so my list for 195/55 R15 is only PS3 or V12 at the moment...

PS3 is the one that replace PP2... so get it...
912 is more towards comfort performance which is 2~3 step lower than PS3 in level... traction only at A
Dunlop is D01 instead of FD-01... and FM901 is a no no... and both also traction rated A only...

your safe bet is Michelin PS3, Hankook V12... cheaper solution is V12...

QUOTE(EdwinTan @ Dec 24 2010, 01:53 PM)
Hi all sifu, I got few questions. Current tyre size is 185/65/R14

1) Can I change to 195 or 205 to increase the grip?
2) Can I change to 60 or 55 to lower the car and less bumpy?
3) Which one is better? Michelin XM1 or Bridgestone Turanza AR10? ( reason comparing these 2 tyres is both about same price)
*
well as bro yngwie said... that size is odd size, better upgrade to 15"... my old toy is using 185/60 R14 now, planning to upgrade too... smile.gif
yes and no... it will not lower the car by much maybe a few mm... less bumpy or not will depends on the tire's sidewall properties not the sidewall thickness (Profile)...
if you compare with the 2 i think i prefer XM1 for more comfort ride... it depends what you want from the tires also... the better choice is Toyo Teo Plus but it cost you above RM200 for ur size...

well V12 also not bad in comfort...

BTW downgrade to 16" and use V12 is the best choice... smile.gif the stock 16" tires should be 205/55 R16... so at 55 series u still can use a lot of performance tires...

V8 is old model... V12 performance is better too...
Nexen 8000 is good according to user...

If you really want comfort then really 16" is nice... 17" might not as comfort as you want no matter 50 series... it depends on the tires also... Hankook V12 Evo it is comfort on 195/55 R15 while PP2 is not at all... i used both tires, now on PS3... if you want comfort y change to 17" wheels???

QUOTE(Rascal Stitch @ Dec 26 2010, 08:45 PM)
then i think u got d wrong guy~
i'm 5'7''  laugh.gif
no choice if u wan less bumpy then dun upgrade to 16~
if u insisting of upgrading it,then better make sure it's correct size which is 215/45-17 n if u wan can try using 215/50-17 for better comfort but only thing u'll sacrifice is ur fc n love letter due to oversize tire will give higher chances of getting speed traps~
sum ppl have a very stupid mindset of upgrading rims for more comfort which is totally so wrong~
all they get for upgrading rims is to get better handling on da road n get more bumpy on da road as well due to bigger rims n wat more even worst then wan it to b dirt cheap like 14" or 15" tires~  shakehead.gif  shakehead.gif
*
hmmm... hehe i duno la... coz i when there got 1 guy talking with frens... and his fren drive the Van like crazy fellow... hehe...

ya... a lot of ppl thought they upgrade for Look or Handling but in return u need to sacrifice the comfort and also your wallet... mostly nice 16" and 17" tires will be priced around RM300 and above...
and u can see a lot of "Cheapo" whom upgrade with big rims using Cheap tires...
of course there is ppl can buy a car with nearly RM100k and still do not want to spend RM1k for tires which can last them 1~2 years or even more for some ppl...

QUOTE(alabais @ Dec 27 2010, 12:13 PM)
I'm new to cars and more so about tyres. Need some advice from all the sifus here for sure!

My dad's Wira is currently using Michelin 175/70 R13 for about 3.5 years now. Well he doesn't drive around much so the mileage is pretty low. The front two tyres are balding a bit on the edges.

I'm thinking on changing them for him but I'm not sure what I should be using. I went to ENEOS and they told me the promotion is Falken. Change 4 for RM517 and the alignment is free. Bridgestone Potenza is like RM163 per tyre.

My dad basically drives around town and he's a safe driver. So basically not speeding or taking fast corners. Anyone can recommend something good?

Thank you.
*
that size you can try Michelin XM1, Goodyear Ducaro GA, Bridgestone AR10...
you don have potenza tires in that size... sweat.gif skip falken 522,322... the grip in wet sucks...

QUOTE(e_k1117 @ Dec 27 2010, 02:34 PM)
hmm.gif  less than RM1k tyre for 17" ?? posible to get(rm250/pcs) ? local brand one ?  laugh.gif
my budget for it is 1.5k lor max.
*
Hankook V12 evo or GY F1 Asymmetric this 2 tire have good feedback from user...
