If this is a post trying to advertise Woh Fatt, it's a pretty poor one (post, not the shop). Plus, mentioning your dad works there kind of biases the question...
As for what I think of Woh Fatt, I've been there only three times - twice I was not treated very well. They weren't rude, I just felt like they were not interested in helping me. I was checking out the SX LP copies and when I asked them about trying one, they asked if I was going to buy it. I said that if it sounded good, I probably would. The person said that I could only test it if I wanted to buy it... I politely repeated that if it sounded bad, I probably wouldn't buy it. He then said that if I was serious in buying it and had the money, I could play it. I walked out of the store. I know they probably have to deal with idiots who come in and just want to plug in a guitar and play the intro to "sweet child o mine" or "stairway", but seriously - I was asking to test an SX, not get a Gibson out of one of the glass cases and plug it into a Marshall. I ended up going back again, this time, with my friends uncle (who was a regular, I guess it's who you know that counts!) - this time, they pulled out three guitars for me to try (same color), gave me a nice price and even adjusted the action and threw in three packs of strings and a soft case after the uncle told them what happened the last time I came in. So after experiencing it from both an "unknown" customer and "known" person, I'd say the way I was initially treated put me off. If it wasn't for my friend introducing me to his uncle, I would have probably took my business elsewhere. I only bought my LP-100 there ages ago because there WERE no other Epi/Gibson dealers. Even that also, the service put me off.
But once I got back with EMGs to install, they even mixed up the tone/volume pots. Needless to say, never going back there unless I absolutely HAVE to, I would rather buy from guys like DeadEye or Gapnap (which I have BTW) which offer me much better service. For my setups, I would go to Ng at JS Music. SO yeah, in essence, your service could use a "setup". Sorry if I offended you or your dad, but that's the truth AND the general consensus. |

-unfrenly with their unwelcome faces -sombong -seller garang -seller nk cepat -got issues with people who come for window shop -no cute/young seller...only old pakcik makcik aunty uncle seller -sempit -lots of choices -spare parts -bcoz the shop is like pasar one, sumtimes indo n bangla come zzzzz -open late but close early (5 pm close...wtfish!!!) -i rike GIBSON!!!!   |

i dun remember what brand.. i say it with smile.. "can i have that string package?" the old lady just take the string without even look at me and say the price (its around rm2x something).. and then i gave him 30rm.. and then her CAMPAK my money balance to me.. i dunno if i make any mistake.. but yeah i don wanna go there anymore.. |

About 2 years ago, when me and my brother went to Woh Fatt to browse for a multi-effects guitar pedal, they totally changed our view towards them initially as a very nice and kind shop because they sell Gibsons.  " It was our first time too. As stated by many ppl above, they have this 'no money, no talk' policy, so when we saw a pedal that we wanted to try, they said "If you want to try, you must show the money first." We were like... O_O. People who went there before should know that there's no parking over there unless you park opposite Woh Fatt which is at MYDIN, I think. o_O~ My dad was waiting in his car while we browsed around the shop, so we had to go all the way back to the car and asked our dad to masuk the shop but I had to wait in the car because cannot park there. "~ Then later, my dad come back and ask me to go back into the shop to test the pedal. Seems like they only let you test if you show them the cash. " Fuiyo, after paying for the pedal, their service turned around 360 degrees weh. I asked them about a SX Les Paul's price. A dude there didn't only tell me a good price, he even took it down for me to test it. Syok. There's another incident that really made me refuse to go to Woh Fatt already. It's kinda off topic, but in my local yamaha. I was never treated the way Woh Fatt "allegedly" treats customers. I'm just a student and i look like one, I went to my local yamaha one day to check out the guitars. I had a look at them and asked if i could try the apx700 i think. the guy (probably owner) just said go ahead. I took it down myself and tried it out. soon he came over and asked me if i wanted to test it with an amp. Even though its pretty obvious i have No money on me.. Kota Kinabalu yamaha gets lots of stars in my book. |

I have to agree with Everydying, Blacktrix and EchoBrain .. Even from last year I heard (but did not judge) alot of stuff about Woh Fatt . But the last 2 times I went there (once last year and once early this year), although I did not buy anything and just looked around, they were very nice. This uncle around the shop and aunty behind the counter.
This uncle, I think he must be the uncle everyone were talking about. I was quite surprised he was very nice and smiling when serving me even when I just ask price and look around, didn't even buy anything. After I didn't wanna buy anything, just indicate I wanna ciao and said thanks, he even replied 'thank u thank u' in a very nice way. That's my real experience so far lah. Maybe it's just bad timing haha. Went to the shop last year and the auntie was very helpful..asked me if I wanted to try the Gibson LPs behind the glass cabinet which I declined, even though I did not walk flaunting a wad of cash.
Similar with Mahagony in SS2, he salesperson kept insisting I'd try the PRS 22 or 24, can't recall. But seriously I had no intention to buy but so far had good experiences. You guys should come to HK, you could just pick up any guitars on the wall and have a go. |

i walk into any store and talk a bit, they all throw all their best gear at me.... i went woh fatt on wed, played about 70k of their gibsons... in the end only bought some bits and pieces... bentley also same, they see me time they take the key for the room without me asking... |

Hahaha actually my guitar shop experiences all quite good.
Bentley Mutiara - Wah. These guys all layan me and my bro when we went there to look for a new acoustic guitar. We had 3 guys talking to us and I even got to try out a Taylor guitar which cost around 4k. They also let us exchange the Tak we bought for another guitar. Guitar Store Cheras - Hmm also very nice. An old man there ask me questions and we talked a bit. The worker also dragged our guitar up and down the stairs to the guitar tech a few times then another fella come in and talk to us and discuss about that guitar's problems. Guitar Store Damansara - First visit was okay. Second one, aside from assuming I didn't know nuts about guitars (the 'oh a kid' look), kindof okay. Don't know why but embarrassing moments always happen here. Bentley Bukit Bintang - Erm... nothing to say. They just ignore me and my bro and we left quickly even though it took us an hour to get through the jam and we walked from Lot 10 to Bentley. Mahogany SS2 - Aside from their insane prices, this shop has treated me well. I like the old man and the worker is nice. Let me try an Ovation even though we were just there to buy a pick. They keep their guitars in hard cases and it's very mafan to keep taking them out. Euphony Ikano Power Centre - Well they need to get some guys who can repair guitars there but otherwise the lady there is helpful. I bought my tuner there when I really didn't know nuts about guitars (a few years back) and the guy there showed me and my mum how to use the tuners and recommended a few. |

i also like Bentley damansara..already make frens with their worker,Shah and gary..lol,there were really nice and funny..even didnt hesitate to let me try the Jackson RR24(while they know i dun have cash for it)..haha..and the Megadeth bro..forgot his name..haha..also a very nice person..

ahahha reallylah u ppl i think all look like rempit or cacat otak etc, cos i go to woh fatt, i tell them i can look myself they really let me see see... i even masuk behind the counter and grab whatever i want, they don't mind at all, cos i actually pay for what i grablah hahhahaha i tried out their fender japan, gibson usa and the gibsons in the damn high up case a couple of times, and didnt buy yet, they always still damn nice about it... i love woh fatt, the technician guy(middle aged) and the sales guy (young) always darn nice to me, can talk with them also..... probably i always go at good time, and have a lot of time, can wait for them to layan me, and am damn polite to them, smile etc... thats probably the way to get good service anywhere in the end... bentley long haired guy is andrew, he and gary are darn nice fellas, and the tall malay dude who smiles too much also damn good service... they all let me do retty much anything i want, from trying out the drumsets, hitting the cymbals with real sticks (not those crap rubber tipped ones), playing all the taylors, prs, fender custom shop etc in the locked room, without even worrying that i will drop it( they let me take the guitar myself), to playing the pianos especially the steinways hahhahaha even the $664000 model..... played the pianos a few times already heehee.... stock comes in every 3 months, if you're like me and play everything, you'll notice a few new things every 2-3 months.... |

i just went to bentley damansara today, wow the service was super nice.
never before i got such nice service from other shops. the guitars were also all very clean, no rusty strings or such. the worker there was very polite, very helpful also. how i wish all guitar store give such service. he even let me tried the MIA fender. that was very different from the Bentley HQ. i would definitely buy that strat from Bentley Damansara. |

woh fatt ya nice price place but bad service
last time i go there to ask for the bass pickup but they threat me like a dumb tell me they don have much stock and din't tell me more info about the pickup.. they lost their business of me which i go to bently damansara music to look for the bass pickup... the technician shah there give me several suggestion and compare each of them and let me knw how he plan to upgrade my bass guitar sound and also let me try the pickup with the bass guitar there how the sound look like.. i talk whole noon with him and just make the decision which pickup i want to go for... that is wat i experience woh fatt just the shop can buy the small accessories...woh fatt sux This post has been edited by albert85: Jun 20 2009, 01:42 AM |

I went to Woh Fatt to look for guitar before (beginner) as it was near my workplace. So I walked there during lunch, see not much people, and I asked the auntie at the counter whether they have Yamaha guitar. She said "we don't sell Yamaha, but please look around, lots of other brands". And that's it.
Then some guy came over and asked me what am I looking for. He proceeded to tell me a lot about guitars and stuffs and this and that and what I should be looking for. Seems pretty friendly to me actually. So I'm guessing you just need to speak to the right person to get the right customer service.  |

wah i didnt know the shop sucks so much nowadays, i can agree that the auntie can be quite rude, but the last time i went there, i asked if i can try a sx jazz bass, the guy brought it down for me, plugged into an amp, joked with me about him nt knowing which amp to plug into, and let me try for quite a long time. In the end, i didnt buy and told the guy i wud think about it. then he's still quite nice ar after dat. so i thought the service was quite good, except for the auntie... she was a nightmare.

reading this tread is like either you get treated nicely or not nicely... i went there twice last week, and its was really good, i was looking at the guitar and they ask me right away wanna try anot, nv even ask i wanna buy anot... then a ask the 1st guy to quote me price for guitar and amp and he gave a great price and got a free set up for me... even gave me free strap, cable and like 4 picks... then i went back there again with my friend to get is guitar set up, really good price and i bought a guitar stand a nice price also... |

i bought SX SEG-STD, daphon heavy metal efx, and Daphon AMP there, last year... i always go to Woh Fatt, to look over new guitar..the price is ok for me... sometime i go to check to another store..n some of their guitar had less price than woh fatt... but what ta heck... i will always go there...coz i love to look at the guitar..hahaha to woh fatt...u need to be more friendly....6/10 |

Wow, so many negative comments. I am actually planning to go there to buy an acoustic. I guess I'm not going there then.
Can you recommend any guitar shops that sell cheap guitars and got 1st class service? When I asked my friends where are the "big" guitar shops, the only answer I got is Bentley and Woh Fatt. Any other alternative? |

i only go woh fatt buy accessories such as tuner, guitar stand, etc, it's cheaper than other retail stores, and my preferred guitar string, which i only can find it in woh fatt, other places don't sell. That's the only reason i go to petaling street area, else i won't go.

true... but us musician need a place to spend some time.... people who likes book and reading spend a lot of time at library and bookstore..
We dun have a library... we only have music shop that we can enter for free and spend our time ... that is why a music store should be kind and friendly to their customers or potential customers... |

i have never encountered any bad experiences everytime i visit the shop, considered lucky? The uncles there are friendly and helpful, i spent quite some times in the shop. Testing guitars, chit chatting with the uncles.. Everytime sure got buy some stuffs la..

Well I have a mix experience. I do agree the salesperson there are not the friendliest ppl around but hey if you count customers to worker ratio you know that woh fatt beats most of the music shops around KL.
I brought my guitar there once(an jackson entry level guitar) and wanted to get some parts for it. The service was slow(many ppl) then I felt kinda insulted also when the sales person kinda boldly looked down on the guitar and compared it with some epis. Well I guess its just bad PR for the ppl there. But if you know what you're looking for(ie strings, picks) they can give you a good price. And you know that there is where you will find almost any guitar parts(cheap ones). |

Out of 20 malaysians, 18 like to ask alot of crap(I.e. How come so expensive?). Out of this 18 16 like to bargain the price. Out of this 16 , 11 of them likes to test(Could take literally hours). Out of 11 of this 10 of them will always say "Err... maybe i come back next time to buy".
And of course the remaining one will walk out of the shop with what they want. |

especially those aunties those uncle are better i onli go there for their cheap acoustic guitar, its much more cheaper than bentley bb .. last time they told me .. if i buy guitar there service 1 year free then the 2nd time i go back . they say need to charge n then .. like they do .. keep telling me the action is very low already .. actually still damn high at bentley bb .. for small things i wana repair .. they wanna charge rm 50 show me lanci face . n say thats the minimum charge. the music shop in bukit bintang 3rd floor i think .. its super good they charge me 10 bucks oli to fix pickup .. n set the truss rod. n fix new strings .. guitar collection .. where oso lanci .. |

havent made any friends yet. must go and ask for this Hafiz guy. haha! Theres this uncle who helped us (me and my dad) on my first visit. His name was GG. HAHA, thats what he said lah. |

I went to Woh Fatt today to get some spare drum parts. The service was very good, the people were very nice, and the man who helped me out was very friendly and reduced my total price from RM24 to RM22, without me asking. Sure 10% like that is not that much, but it's a very nice gesture.
The stuff they sell there are also really cool. They have lots of cool stuff and I thought it was really cool. Especially the Hofner Bass in the back. I bought my first ever guitar at woh fatt.....service ok lar..... bought some drums skins there before also... quite frenly... when you want to buy stuff they will be nice with you.
Bently BB memang macam babi..especialy the ground floor one...lanci habis..there was this once i was there, their shop closes at 7pm i think tat day, so we went in lar, the guy keep staring at us with the muka 5 sen. then he told us, ''we are closing soon you know.''with very unfrenly voice...wtf.... guitar collection-memang macam babi....lansi to the max!!!!! Bentley mutiara is ok lar.... no complain. Maybe he scared you put wrong, then when you walk out, the door swing causes a wind draft that could cause that guitar to topple. And the domino effect happens! and before he can do anything, you're probably the other corner of Pyramid already

EMG HZ H4 at Woh Fatt is sold at RM455 after i ask to discount.. after that i never bought a single thing there. rather bought at a lanci "B" shop. at least, some stuff are way cheaper than woh fatt.. |

I went there before, not bad la the service. As far as I can remember, one oldish lady was quite helpful when I went to get a guitar for my brother. She even let me test it. I also went there to do some wiring long time ago. Quite pricy but the wiring worked. No complaints there. But there was also a time I went in, and nobody layan me. I was just browsing around so it's ok la I guess. The only thing I can say is that Woh Fatt sells cheap guitars and their more expensive ones are kept in a glass case so since I won't settle for the cheaper guitars and can't afford the more expensive ones, I don't see myself going back to buy my 2nd guitar.

MM. I went to Rhapsody yesterday in Mid Valley! Their service was actually good! well, that dude was really helpful and friendly, his name was Din, abit buff, shoulder length hair. Only the boss was abit, hahhahaa, i was playing on their Les Paul Custom when he came and said, "Sir, cannot let you play too long, after have to change the strings."

i went there few times to buy AHB-2. Bfore that i already call to comfirm they have the stock or not. & they like aaa? aaaa? what is that? & told me come & c for urself lahh. i really want the pickups after few month survey. & when i get there they as me to look by my self. aiyo. they just like dun have time for cust. & finally they told me they dont order that type & sugest me to get gibson. wtf? i play metal lol. & i already bought from guitar store cheras. dead eye also good. & now i would like to ask them again bout TL-2 metal distortion. they are my last choice.

I just called them to inquire about a price of a guitar model. Someone answered in a very impatient and rude manner. me: do you sell hofma guitars? wf: yes me: Do you sell the model 302 wf: no stock me: how much is it? wf: can't remember me: hm, can you check please? wf: no can't remember and no stock anyway me: errr ( I was quite shocked at this point that he had this screw you attitude) wf: furthermore we do not tell prices over the phone. me: ..... ok thanks bye. I am still at the state of shock! I just don't understand how businesses can afford to treat their customers like this. He didn't even have the courtesy to treat me with respect and I wasn't even asking for much. But if anyone knows how much this model cost please tell me! Thanks |

It's true they are nicer to girls. When one of my female friend went there to buy Saxophone Reed...she was treated with a lotta respect and courtesy.

CKMusic also the young malay lads are friendly. I wonder where is Hafiz at bentley now ? GuitarCollection at midvalley, just focused on playing their computer for dunno what reason, no hello or welcome. I dislike the yamaha stores at midvalley and curve. euphony music at ikano, bad experience with one lady, but one guy there has been giving a service with a smile

Nevermind. I've only been into the shop once. Way back in 1991. Had around 2k plus some change in my pocket looking for a LP (GNR was the biggest band in the universe at that time). The cheapest I see for a LP was 2500 or something. Walk out and took a cab to Bkt Bintang and got me a Strat at Bentley plus amp and Metal Zone for around 1.8k. 😁 |

Plc : At its CCK shop after Jln Silang fire.
Date : 24/2/23 Time : 13:30 Be prepared to be shouted at for just being there! The moment i stepped in, i was greeted by a fat ass jabbar-like (cld b the owner) with a sour face shouting "Hey, what u want! U know u cant come in! Wait outside & tell us what u want!". I was so shocked & felt like a criminal before i even open my mouth. Another elderly woman who also sounded harsh reiterated that i wait outside & tell her what i want. I told her no nid & went off. Not sure bout other ppl who might think this plc is a bargain but not me. Just to save few bucks in return being treated like a criminal?! Instead, I went to Jln Pasar & got me all i wanted. No way i m buying again frm this shithole managed by old & grumpy sickos who think d world owes them their youth! |
