I went to Woh Fatt to look for guitar before (beginner) as it was near my workplace. So I walked there during lunch, see not much people, and I asked the auntie at the counter whether they have Yamaha guitar. She said "we don't sell Yamaha, but please look around, lots of other brands". And that's it.

Then some guy came over and asked me what am I looking for. He proceeded to tell me a lot about guitars and stuffs and this and that and what I should be looking for. Seems pretty friendly to me actually.

So I'm guessing you just need to speak to the right person to get the right customer service.
