If this is a post trying to advertise Woh Fatt, it's a pretty poor one (post, not the shop). Plus, mentioning your dad works there kind of biases the question...

As for what I think of Woh Fatt, I've been there only three times - twice I was not treated very well. They weren't rude, I just felt like they were not interested in helping me.

I was checking out the SX LP copies and when I asked them about trying one, they asked if I was going to buy it. I said that if it sounded good, I probably would. The person said that I could only test it if I wanted to buy it... I politely repeated that if it sounded bad, I probably wouldn't buy it. He then said that if I was serious in buying it and had the money, I could play it. I walked out of the store.

I know they probably have to deal with idiots who come in and just want to plug in a guitar and play the intro to "sweet child o mine" or "stairway", but seriously - I was asking to test an SX, not get a Gibson out of one of the glass cases and plug it into a Marshall.

I ended up going back again, this time, with my friends uncle (who was a regular, I guess it's who you know that counts!) - this time, they pulled out three guitars for me to try (same color), gave me a nice price and even adjusted the action and threw in three packs of strings and a soft case after the uncle told them what happened the last time I came in.

So after experiencing it from both an "unknown" customer and "known" person, I'd say the way I was initially treated put me off. If it wasn't for my friend introducing me to his uncle, I would have probably took my business elsewhere.

Having said that, they do have a reputation for reasonable prices and good selection of gear... then again, I wasn't looking for a Gibson, so I wasn't really paying attention to those prices

oh yeah, i was ready to buy a casio cdp100 digital piano at a shop last year, but I need to test it with a damper. I was 99.9999% sure to buy. but the salesgirl say, "if u want to test with damper, u have to buy the damper". WTF? piano shop no damper for testing? they lost my business.

anyway, generally malaysians are rude. laugh.gif

I only bought my LP-100 there ages ago because there WERE no other Epi/Gibson dealers. Even that also, the service put me off.
But once I got back with EMGs to install, they even mixed up the tone/volume pots.
Needless to say, never going back there unless I absolutely HAVE to,

I would rather buy from guys like DeadEye or Gapnap (which I have BTW) which offer me much better service. For my setups, I would go to Ng at JS Music.

SO yeah, in essence, your service could use a "setup".

Sorry if I offended you or your dad, but that's the truth AND the general consensus.

I've never been to Woh Fatt for at least a year already. I'll tell you why. =P

About 2 years ago, when me and my brother went to Woh Fatt to browse for a multi-effects guitar pedal, they totally changed our view towards them initially as a very nice and kind shop because they sell Gibsons. sleep.gif" It was our first time too.

As stated by many ppl above, they have this 'no money, no talk' policy, so when we saw a pedal that we wanted to try, they said "If you want to try, you must show the money first." We were like... O_O.

People who went there before should know that there's no parking over there unless you park opposite Woh Fatt which is at MYDIN, I think. o_O~

My dad was waiting in his car while we browsed around the shop, so we had to go all the way back to the car and asked our dad to masuk the shop but I had to wait in the car because cannot park there. sleep.gif"~ Then later, my dad come back and ask me to go back into the shop to test the pedal. Seems like they only let you test if you show them the cash. sleep.gif"

Fuiyo, after paying for the pedal, their service turned around 360 degrees weh. I asked them about a SX Les Paul's price. A dude there didn't only tell me a good price, he even took it down for me to test it. Syok.

There's another incident that really made me refuse to go to Woh Fatt already. Long incident....... lazy to type here. Because of that incident, my parents also don't like Woh Fatt liao.

I'm not here to rain on this parade (or add to it, whatever)

It's kinda off topic, but in my local yamaha. I was never treated the way Woh Fatt "allegedly" treats customers.

I'm just a student and i look like one, I went to my local yamaha one day to check out the guitars. I had a look at them and asked if i could try the apx700 i think. the guy (probably owner) just said go ahead. I took it down myself and tried it out. soon he came over and asked me if i wanted to test it with an amp. Even though its pretty obvious i have No money on me..

Kota Kinabalu yamaha gets lots of stars in my book.
