Really miss yesterday race alot... MOST IMPORTANTLY, this weekend will be looking up for the best timing... Hahaha... Hope everyone wil try and post up the car wif ur best timing(FAST or Very SLOW oso post) Then we all can discuss why n why those cars fast and slow... those roller ball bearing(some of them) may have a C ring, the purpose of C ring is to cover the ball bearing. but i compare those roller, who with proper C ring position will turn smoothly and the other not. so try to take it out, clean it and put it back again.+
P/S: this is danger, dont' simply try, i am trying this with the spirit of buying a new 1 .... This post has been edited by szngszng: Jun 9 2009, 12:01 PM |

It was different 1/2sec the front roller cause the car turn and cornering, actually it's far more important than the real; the real roller is for balancing the car, due to we have the change lane track, most of the time the car is depend on the real roller to cross the lane, the tire is not on the lane, you can refer to the photo faiz take, ![]() for this car, if the front roller set at position which lower, the car should cross the change lane with more safety, while the back roller setting is very good, as we can see that it's stick with the track and balance the car so well. so, how fast your car is and how high/low you should set the roller. some tips to share... if u wanted to clean the bearing... better to have an empty bottle.. u can use zippo oil or magic water...
it's more better other then spraying the magic water to the bearing (bearing from roller, shaft and the gear bearing) that still stick with the chassis...some of the dust maybe still stuck inside.. instruction, put the bearing in the bottle n shake it softly.. not to hard... n let it around 5 min i think... then take the bearing out n put it onto a tissue to let it dry.. example like this bottle---> ![]() This post has been edited by wankoko: Jun 10 2009, 12:18 AM |

i found out why tamiya make their roller extension weird shape.
![]() let say the car is turning to the left . as u guys can see,the yellow screw act like a pivot point where the red screw is in stress. If guys see the direction of stress of the left roller,is backwards. BUT because of the position of the extension, the stress on the red screw is forward. Thus force acted on the car to move forward. |

Thus force acted on the car to move forward. for me, this's actually a design of arm of force, or simply arm, which: power/force*(moment point roller to yellow"set A")=resistance*(moment point yellow to red"set B") So, as your car B>A let say 2:1, thus, when point red can support 1kg, which when balance, the force/power will need 2kg, if the force/power over 2kg, which your theory started to work. this design actually to protect your car by the theory of arm |

QUOTE(wankoko @ Jun 10 2009, 12:14 AM) some tips to share... if u wanted to clean the bearing... better to have an empty bottle.. u can use zippo oil or magic water... Hahahaha ... i have that bottle ... it's more better other then spraying the magic water to the bearing (bearing from roller, shaft and the gear bearing) that still stick with the chassis...some of the dust maybe still stuck inside.. instruction, put the bearing in the bottle n shake it softly.. not to hard... n let it around 5 min i think... then take the bearing out n put it onto a tissue to let it dry.. example like this bottle---> ![]() |

QUOTE(szngszng @ Jun 9 2009, 09:40 PM) yeah, the actual thing to make the car fast is the roller ( if the motor is in the same condition), meanwhile, with the technical track and 6 rollers rule, the position of roller even more important.... fast and slow motor got diff roller position setting too, i'm also learn this at the comp and while i am practice at TU. thanks bro...that my car...maklumat yg berguna...the front roller cause the car turn and cornering, actually it's far more important than the real; the real roller is for balancing the car, due to we have the change lane track, most of the time the car is depend on the real roller to cross the lane, the tire is not on the lane, you can refer to the photo faiz take, ![]() for this car, if the front roller set at position which lower, the car should cross the change lane with more safety, while the back roller setting is very good, as we can see that it's stick with the track and balance the car so well. so, how fast your car is and how high/low you should set the roller. |

Added on June 10, 2009, 10:13 am hi pai~~ Seem you are the expert in this career please, also provide reaction, friction and arm course, would like to know more about this few area. ![]() as u can see,the white box is contact area of rear roller with the track. assuming the track is clean, and car is moving at constant speed. we can conclude that larger surface area contact with the track, the more friction exerted on the track .But,if we use small surface area that contact with the track [Eg. 19mm roller ]the less friction exerted on the track However, some variable have to be concern > 1: Track is not always smooth, always have the black tape. Thus increase the friction 2: The position of the roller effect the force exerted on the track is different as shown in picture below> ![]() 3: The less surface area contact with the track, the more pressure the roller is.This is why most of us that use 19mm roller put two frp to make it harder to bend as most of us trying to reduce the contact area of the roller but at the same time increase it pressure. This can be explain as> Formula Pressure Form 4 Mathematically: p = F/A where: p is the pressure, F is the normal force, A is the area. This post has been edited by faiz92: Jun 10 2009, 01:21 PM |

Matt If cover entry fees, it is like competition dy. RM5 = mini competition? =p What i intent to do is, for every new setup track we can test car n who is the best got gift(when i held it only) It is nothing to do wif gathering, date n time... But normally wil be in weekend, i am judger... Huahaha... More casual abit lor... Perhap i do this as a part of i support mini4wd in malaysia gua... Ur idea not bad oso, we self make mini competition... 1 ppl RM5 or lesser... But need to knw public respon oso 1st... hi everybody,
i've a question here, hopefully somebody could enlighten me with an answer or solution or justification to the Q. whats the differences or advantages or disadvantages by using smaller diameter roller in front/rear of the chassis compared to the bigger diameter roller in front/rear of the chassis? what i've done past years and current practise is just installed any roller despite of the sizes without even thinking of the advantages. i've no idea at all why there are various sizes for the rollers. thank you in advance. Added on June 12, 2009, 11:29 amdavid, i'm sure somebody could have accidently keep it after their practice. chill up, definately someone will return the lap timer very soon. to the players, please have some courtesy to ask for permission before utilising the lap timer or any other items from TU and best still, practice the good behaviour at all time anywhere. peace. Standard setting. Front and rear rollers have the same diameter. This makes your car easier to run straight since rollers are lined parallel when they contact a wall. Also minimizes power loss. Bigger in front: Front roller diameter is bigger than that of rear roller. Suitable for courses with many corners since this pushes your car towards inside of the course when rollers contact a wall. Smaller in front: Rear roller diameter is bigger than that of front roller. This makes your car run along with a wall. Gives stability during cornering, but creates power loss. Remember, Double Ball Race Rollers are counted as one piece during official Tamiya races. They are best located at the front rather than the rear. However, if you have cash to spend you can use them in the rear as well. |

let me share something with u guys.
when i was 12,i always go to toycity sunway piramid where they have onstage track. sometimes,i put my box near the 'pitstop' for 4wd and i ask the worker to take care of the box. unfortunately, that f****** worker took 5 frp's ,two sets of tyre, 4 sets of long screw and 6 aluminium roller's. it cost me alot and i report to my dad,and my dad report it to the shop .after that, that guy tak kerja at toy city anymore. u see, when people are obsessed with something, they would do such thing. and right now in t.u, everybody u can trust, thats what i like in t.u. but,not the people that use T.u as shortcut This post has been edited by faiz92: Jun 12 2009, 02:37 PM |

However, if you have cash to spend you can use them in the rear as well. " thank you gabz.85 & TtFIRSTZxX . Hi h1dz1r,sorry, am still a noob with these setting, how does a double ball roller works? the diameters for the rollers is different if i'm not wrong, how should i placed them? the bigger size downward & the smaller upward? and on the rear, can i make use of 4 of them, 2 on each side? another Q related to this too, what about those who make use of the much smaller ball bearing roller guide i.e 7mm at 4 corners? whts the advantages to these setting? thank you. The 7mm bearing are ceramic bearing if i not mistaken, which is very smooth.... For my understanding.... the smaller roller, the more stability but lag of speed cornering... so the bigger.... faiz92 & apai & david,
out of curiousity, cutting the chassis for what purpose? and which part of the chassis to cut-off? i assumed, we are prohibited from cutting the chassis. please correct me, if i'm wrong. the cutting stuff i've done recently is cutting the polycarbonate body shell. for that purpose, i make use of my victorinox knife, as the scissor is narrow pointed. cheers. CUTTING OF CHASSIS
This is an example method of cutting chassis. ![]() To lighten the chassis, more flexible chassis. It helps better performance in waves sections. It is undeniable, however, that a stiff chassis will make the car more predictable helps cornering performance. For some racers, by cutting chassis will not help much, because you need to add more FRPs to reinforce it. |

Hello. It depends on the rules and regulations on the race. As the last week race in TAMIYA Underground, I believe that David restricted it because of controlling all racers using uncut chassis that benefit newbies and childen who does not know how to cut chassis or etc. For Japanese official rules, cutting of chassis is allowed as long your machine is 90grams and above. I hope this helps. |

eelen,
thank you for the information. its something new to me, but definately will try to do some cutting on my own...the black & decker will sure be handy to do the job. for now, to cut-off some weight on the chassis, i'll try to make use the N03 & T03. i've a 2 sets of those, but never try it out yet. have to wait till david bring in the carbon reinforced frp front & rear plate for N03 & T03. anyway, thank you for the info. |

I believed that you did quite alot of researches. Yeah, quite alot, but not yet practices it, i just have to try it and see the result. haha but i think i won't cut too much, after cutting, this chassis is very weak compare to other chassis i.e. VS or super-1 and i found that it is damn hard to do enforcement at the wheel unit, it rather just left it original or un-cut. i feel there's just too much of a hassle to cut the chassis..leaving the way it is and finding another solution of lightening would be better.

by cutting the chasis it really weakens it , but the cutting is to make a lightweight and fast car japs call it the igeta and we call it frp car.
this kind of cars is not really good for jumps but its main purpose is speed so the current layout is the best for this type of cars track sample and this type of car running This post has been edited by david tamiya: Jun 14 2009, 10:40 AM |

put some mass damper.. try and see how...
front n back??
it depends on your car setting.. how you put the brake.. normally you can try to put front first and see the result.. if your car still unstable then try to put it at the back.. until you can see your car stable... you also need to check your brake setting.. normally if speed layout, the clearance of your brake(sponge only) must not more than 2mm.. try and see how to all timer racer..its just my opinion.. kalau salah tolong tunjuk ajar This post has been edited by rexoslayer: Jun 14 2009, 09:37 PM |

I did some circle on pic mini4wd's posted.... the circle in red which useless extra weight on the chassis.... u do not need to cut till the chassis on the right..(this is extreme)... u can left a bit to support the batteries... Below item is to support the chassis more firm... ![]() ITEM 15363 Mini 4WD PRO Reinforced Gear Cover (for MS Chassis) do u guys come across the normal gear cover easily open???? |

QUOTE(rexoslayer @ Jun 16 2009, 11:00 PM) Rexo,Nice collection you have..... Faiz92, Wooo.... salute Gabz.85, How much they copy your setting dosent mean can beat your time.... most important the basic of making your car smooth is important.... If his car setup the same as yours and beat your timing... it means you are not doing a good maintenance such as cleaning, change to new screws, firm chassis and etc... If u discover this setup is suitable for u.... try to improve it... give it up... u can be 1 of the mini4wd... And 1 thing... wat ShuangShengEr advised regarding your rollers.... is to set 3 pairs roller and to testing/research... when race day... u don hassle to remove the roller.. and it will also effect your car performance... 2cent advised.... |
