hi everybody,
i've a question here, hopefully somebody could enlighten me with an answer or solution or justification to the Q. whats the differences or advantages or disadvantages by using smaller diameter roller in front/rear of the chassis compared to the bigger diameter roller in front/rear of the chassis? what i've done past years and current practise is just installed any roller despite of the sizes without even thinking of the advantages. i've no idea at all why there are various sizes for the rollers. thank you in advance. Added on June 12, 2009, 11:29 amdavid, i'm sure somebody could have accidently keep it after their practice. chill up, definately someone will return the lap timer very soon. to the players, please have some courtesy to ask for permission before utilising the lap timer or any other items from TU and best still, practice the good behaviour at all time anywhere. peace. "Double Ball Race Rollers are counted as one piece during official Tamiya races. They are best located at the front rather than the rear. However, if you have cash to spend you can use them in the rear as well. " thank you gabz.85 & TtFIRSTZxX .
sorry, am still a noob with these setting, how does a double ball roller works? the diameters for the rollers is different if i'm not wrong, how should i placed them? the bigger size downward & the smaller upward? and on the rear, can i make use of 4 of them, 2 on each side? another Q related to this too, what about those who make use of the much smaller ball bearing roller guide i.e 7mm at 4 corners? whts the advantages to these setting? thank you. any brand as long as its not too think and not too thin i use microlon david, i've search for microlon grease at ace hardware, but theres so many products. 4 oz Microlon Wheel Bearing Grease, would that be the item? thank you. Added on June 12, 2009, 4:29 pm
any brand as long as its not too think and not too thin i use microlon Added on June 12, 2009, 4:09 pm the double roller is normally placed as the bigger part close to the frp so bottom big up small if u put the roller at the bottom of the frp the bigger part will be on top . normally double roller is more commonly used at the front as it provides more stable lane change clearance. if u are following the 105mm rule the bigger the roller the less frp extent is needed , while smaller bearings u will need to extend the frp wider but smaller bearings are a bit noisy and not easy to get a fast cornering speed but is more stable at the lane change than bigger rollers
thank you david for the prompt reply. i'll be at TU this sunday to get myself 3 sets of the double roller if the parts is still available, plus others that i've required. faiz92 & apai & david,
out of curiousity, cutting the chassis for what purpose? and which part of the chassis to cut-off? i assumed, we are prohibited from cutting the chassis. please correct me, if i'm wrong. the cutting stuff i've done recently is cutting the polycarbonate body shell. for that purpose, i make use of my victorinox knife, as the scissor is narrow pointed. cheers. QUOTE(mini4wd @ Jun 13 2009, 10:15 PM) CUTTING OF CHASSIS thank you eelen. during races, does chassis cutting will be allowed or are there category that allowedTo lighten the chassis, more flexible chassis. It helps better performance in waves sections. It is undeniable, however, that a stiff chassis will make the car more predictable helps cornering performance. For some racers, by cutting chassis will not help much, because you need to add more FRPs to reinforce it. chassis cutting to participate? cheers. |

eelen,
thank you for the information. its something new to me, but definately will try to do some cutting on my own...the black & decker will sure be handy to do the job. for now, to cut-off some weight on the chassis, i'll try to make use the N03 & T03. i've a 2 sets of those, but never try it out yet. have to wait till david bring in the carbon reinforced frp front & rear plate for N03 & T03. anyway, thank you for the info. |

we were there, my daughter, son & myself from 11:30am till 12:30pm testing 3 of my cars with different setting. both ms chassis perform well as i expected though no timing were recorded. the super-x chassis flew off after the jump, probably due to the faster plasma motor & the chassis is light plus no rear brake. no problem, i'm just having fun with the old chassis. apai was around for a while testing his car, then left..probably for lunch.

hi guys,
my other half & I had our lunch at TU and on our back to basement 1, overheard the roller sound against the track wall. there’s Bob testing out his cars, and there’s David & Wak with piles of new stocks on the cabinet. everything got itchy and bought a few stuffs for my cars, though still short of the rear brake assembly, I drove back with a smile as I managed to get a spare set of Super Speed Gear Item No. 15349 from david(thank you bro). now at home, I realise that i'm still short of Gear Bearing Set Item No. 15347. tomorrow, i'll be at TU to get that item & test out my cars. probably be at TU around 2-3pm. cheers. |
