Im still thinking bout to mod the clutch housing to 1.8 as u say will compromise power i have also tought of that.Im just afraid that the engineering shop dono how much to lighten. Usually if use adjustable cam pulley to shift the powerband to lower rpm region i need to retard the cam izit? Btw my gen2 is not a CPS its the early 2004 model campro.
*
Its actually dangerous to lighten the flywheel. Imagine its rotating at 5k rpm and suddenly cracked and shattered.

Just done servicing my car. The Mobil 1 5W50 feels kinda heavy compared to the previous Shell Helix Ultra 0W40 but the engine feels more solid at higher rev in term of vibration and sound. thumbup.gif

So, what's wrong? Any oil will do, just get the one that suits you. I prefer a solid feel anyway.

as i know that ur cps system function optimally with 10w 30 oil if the oil 2 thick is hard for lub pressure to actuate the plunger in the hydraulic bucket tappets.
*
Maybe. Why is it race prep CPS uses 10w60? And did you ever come across SC that got 10W30 in stock? BTW, in my 2nd service, COSE put in 10W50 mineral oil if I remember correctly.

Its the same with using 17" rims when the recommended is 15". But we modders love to test and try. laugh.gif

I'm not so sure about CPS, but if the plunger was operated based on oil pressure, then the 10w50 gives better pressure compare to 10w30. By installing a fuel pressure meter u able to see 10w30 drops pretty much when it's hot compare to 10w50.

I'm using 10w40 on my Mivec and 10w30 sometimes give me problem with the mivec engaging point.
*
Comparing the 'feeling' between 5w50 and 0w40, I prefer the former. But will keep my eyes on the FC.

dats why CPS has a oil cooler to keep the oil in optimal temp,i guess mivec has no oil cooler ,the oil galleries in the cps bucket tappet is quite small so i guess thicker viscosity will affect the cps operation. Trust me bro i have many customers who serviced at branches and then come n complaint that the engine feels sluggish after service. I know many SC dont keep stock of 10w 30.
*
Weird, not feeling sluggish at all. Anyway, a higher viscocity oil are better for hot climate and engine that always being driven hard ( whistling.gif laugh.gif ). BTW, actually I never been to an SC with 5w15 oil in stock. hmm.gif

I tought that CPS have capability to push over 200km/h i guess the final drive is slowing u down for higher top speed. Yesterday tested my old aged campro achieved slightly over 200km/h maybe around 208km/h just only mod the headers midbox and mufflers. Wat mods have u done?
*
Full exhaust, air filter, LCP.

I think the ECU is the one slowing me down. At 4th gear 180km/h@7.2k rpm when shift to fifth, the rpm drop straight to 5.2k and can go up to 5.4k rpm before it refuse to go up even when going downhill. I think all CPS owner has this problem.

ur not revving enough bro CPS rev cut at 7.5 rpm,as i know from proton that specs that all CPS engines are equipped with a new gearbox model actually its the same model that is used in the mivec engines,i cant remember the model code, the final drive ratio is big its designed that way to improve the low end performance likewise my gen2 has a smaller final drive where i experience sluggish low end performance but good high end performance.

My 4th gear max speed is 190km/h its around 6krpm++, when shift to 5th gear need some time to get 200km/h slight downhill can get 210km/h.

Most CPS engines actuate the high lobe cam at 3.8krpm unlike Satria Neo CPS which actuate high lob cam at 4.8krpm.
*
The rev cut at 7.2k rpm ler bro..

din know that bro, actually CPS uses same technology as porsche variocam,so oil viscosity need to be stable when running high temp.
*
Higher viscosity oil is better at high temp, rite? hmm.gif

hi all, i juz sold my gen2 cps rims n tires. now im using 205/50/16. if i lowered my car, say im usring r3 springs, will there be any modifications needed? or my tire spec can fit with lowered spring just nice.

i am concern because it is 50 and not 45.

sifus pls help.
*
Should have no problem since the R3 gen2 MME also uses 50 series 16" tyres.

Sphiroth,

Me think your sprinting video was made very long time ago right?
less performance modd done that time if i'm not mistaken hmm.gif .
why not make a new one with all the latest mods  done? drool.gif  brows.gif  brows.gif
especially with the latest 50 viscosity engine oil. icon_idea.gif
*
No free time. 'That road' is quite far to get to, thus no traffic at all. Maybe will do another dyno instead, but after atleast another mods done (thinking of ACP brows.gif ).

gear ratio?

hi guys,

thx very much for the reply. wut is the tyre spec for gen-2 r3? some say 195 some say 205. im a bit confuse here.

anyway i sold the standard rims and tyres for rm900. issit a good price?

now using toyo tire with taiwan advan rs...but i think my car look a bit weird with the tire n rims...lowered is the only way to make it looks good again i think.

im thinking of getting 45 series...hurmmm

anyway the tire damn syiok ler...so thick and nice thread design. hehe.
*
R3 using 195 tyres, which is quite odd since most 16" is 205. RM900 is a good price. I've sold mine for RM850 (4 hours after getting the car). Better get 50 series as it provide more comfort and yes, you need to lowered your ride after changing rims and tyres. Else it will look weird. Been there, done that.

QUOTE(eastwest @ Jul 28 2009, 09:21 PM)
Using R3 spring with standard absorber, the car will be lowered by how much mm? hmm.gif

Guys... I think most of us here know about this news....
http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1113609

Actually wanna ask at gen2 tread, but not really know forumer there.. So I ask here.. How can gen2 easily burn when accident occur? Me curious bcos driving gen2 too. I know that can happen to any car.. but ... Don't know what word to type... sad.gif

We happy that can mod our car to satisfied our need (top speed, pickup, look, entertainment), but at safety side maybe we forgot...

p/s: I think that car is still stock...
*
Unlucky I guess. Few month back got a Kancil burn along with a mother and her 2 child along the BP to Air Hitam road after an accident with an express bus.

p/s: I've remember an episode of Mythbuster where they try to explode a car by using gun, rifles and drive it over a cliff and still fail.

Its normal (for me laugh.gif )

QUOTE(jctasoga @ Jul 31 2009, 08:16 PM)
taiko eastwest, i'm being a little extreme la... being a noob, i'm sorry if i scared ya.. hehe..

anyway, i would think upgrading the springs will be a better choice for us waja users. i also feel my waja spring are too soft for cornering. even my wira can do and handle better. i myself is looking for a set of normal uprated spring. probably gab in future and also looking at bringing the tyres down to 55 or 50 series to get that decent performance level.

the reality is, you will like the harsh ride for a few months. after tat, u'd wish to go back to stock comfort levels... hehehe.. i'm trying not to poison myself into going down that road (spring + rims + tyres change). however, the poison is strong in this one... hahaha.. tongue.gif

follow the recommended 10-30w engine oil. can get 5-30w would be better i think. i'm trying to find 5-30w but very hard around here. might go for motul 5-30w ones.. hehe

Can you guys tell me what happen to my car?? I'm worry......... sad.gif
*
Is the engine check indicator lit? AFAIK your car is now in 'cripple mode' because got some error in the system, thus it restricted to 100km/h just to get to nearest SC.

Yeah, CPS top speed should be 185++km/h. Whether there's a limiter or not, still a mysteries. Someone also mention bout the 5th gear ratio being the culprit while some members friend from the tranny dept in Proton said its the ECU... rclxub.gif
