Oooo new game mode:
Scavenger mode

Sounds great. More competitive modes is always a good thing

Also, "Hey, Freeman, I think you left this back at Black Mesa!"

thats all right, i am confused too when come to server restriction, i guessing Torrs have different version or he did not set the filter right.

Oh really? buying Aus game cannot play in malaysia.. hmm interesting, i never brought game from Aus beside ps3 games which i abuse the 7days refund policy, furthermore buying game from Aus really expensive, i might as well wait till i go back msia and buy me some original game which cost way lower.
Oh yea i love playing in internode with 24 player, we should play sometime, love playing on weekend, over 300 player playing, fun stuff.  wink.gif

its like this. the malaysian version is a "localized" version. its meant for sale only in the SEA region, and nowhere else. similar to the thailand USD20 orange box, its not for sale anywhere other than thailand, and won't work anywhere but thailand.

if you buy it on Steam however, in our region since we don't have localized pricing over Steam like how they do in Europe, its considered as buying a US retail license, hence you can use it anywhere in the world, since you're paying US prices. a lot of mumbo jumbo if you ask me, badly executed even though its a good concept that allows people in countries with lower GDP to buy games at lower prices.

and edi, not everyone feels like splurging money on 2 games yo tongue.gif its a matter of preference. I for one, did not even get l4d1 because i didn't feel it was worth the price, and now that l4d2 is coming out, i'll likely only be getting it on 2 conditions:
1. 50% off weekend
2. no l4d3 next year tongue.gif (this of course is also dependent on how they merge the games together). heard some news that they're planning something to enable the l4d1 and l4d2 communities to stay together, if it entails completely scrapping the l4d1 engine and installing the l4d2 engine over it while allowing us to play the old campaigns, then huzzah, i'll be on the bandwagon with y'all soon.

On this point they say that L4D2 players can seamlessly join L4D games (Assuming they own L4D lar of course). Not sure if it works the other way round.

Im considering to get L4D2 too,if they remove the ban in Australia, but i'll be buying it on Steam in Malaysia so that no censored stuff on my L4D2,unless they include TF2's melee where after you killed someone, their bodies just fly around like a doll.I actually prefer that over the new limbs dismemberment.

The reason i'll probably get is:
- It's a Valve game and TF2 had surprised me with it's fun and extra contents.
- L4D1 is actually quite decent.
- MW2 isnt looking very good now, with the possible delay(no confirmations yet) and all the videos on a 360 which could mean this game is built up for consoles from ground up. It could be a shitty port and i dont expect a Capcom quality port.
-BFBC2 is next year, which also might turn out shit if they design the game for consoles in mind again.

well, taking your first point would be the reason the boycotters started their activities in the first place. i dont think i need to elaborate on this, unless anyone wants me to. L4D is a good game, no doubt. i just didn't feel it was worth the price tag. i'll say that i was planning to get it on a discount weekend, except that due to cash constraints i ultimately couldnt, and now that i can, i find myself holding back due to l4d2. i won't say anything on mw2, i havent been following it as religiously as my forays to the cesspool known as the steampowered forums. tongue.gif man, are those people retarded.

as for the merging, there have been loads of ideas thrown around on the steam forums, one of which i pioneered *sticks nose in the air, "you may kiss the ring"* tongue.gif generally i think most people would be happy if they just brought the new engine to l4d1, not like its so radically different. and also perhaps pricing l4d2 a bit more competitively. i'm not going to demand that the game be given freely as DLC, but once again i don't think its going to be worth the price tag. i'll reserve my judgment until i've managed to get my hands on the pre-demo-demo (like i did the last time tongue.gif).

I know why the boycotters hate L4D2,but the thing is,the shear amount of content in L4D2 couldnt be justified without a sequel.

Thats what the boycotters need to know.It seems like a pretty good looking sequel to me.

I doubt that will work. If a game is banned there you won't be able to play it in Australia. 'This game not available in your region' even if you bought it elsewhere and are trying to launch it.

I heard Valve are reapplying with a censored version for Australia. Which means Australia might get a specific version which I doubt will work in Malaysia.

Im not sure how it works, but im not gonna get retail here.Im gonna get it straight from Steam where im paying in USD.

Valve is reapplying with a censored version of L4D2.Valve did say that they will patch out the censor later on like Witcher's latest patch.

Would it be possible to proxy it? hmm.gif

I suppose Steam would identify your region purely from IP address.

thats what i said, in the second paragraph of my post. i for one also understand that content wise in terms of story, voice acting, mapping and what not its sequel worthy. however in terms of game mechanics, it would all be fine if they never made the promise that they'd be adding loads of shit to l4d1. i realize that the argument of "hey, so l4d1 was a beta or something?!" isnt really valid, considering most games would also fall under that accusation (i.e. AC would be the beta of AC2, and so on tongue.gif) it's the fact that valve promised us the moon, and isnt even giving us space dust as a compromise when they realized they couldnt deliver without more moolah. and this isn't even touching the price point of the game.

and lol edi. i'm resourceful enough that i'll have my hands on the game for sure (i'll leave the means of which to your imagination), just that i'm not as sexcited about it as you are tongue.gif
besides, i'm having fun right now in fact, with my most current purchase, SHIFT wink.gif
