As said, the almari and drawer does have a place where you can lock it with a manga, but the manga you have to buy on your own. It is fairly small though. About the size of a pen maybe? Not exactly big.

For anyone bringing your laptop, make sure you have those laptop locks/chains. There has been many cases of missing laptop and risking of bringing your laptop without one is not advisable. But the bad thing is, on your table, there won't be any holes to anchor your laptop. My advice is although it is a vandalism of university's property, make a hole under the table. The back board is just plywood. Easy to make a hole. There's a solid wood in the middle so make two holes on each side. Some of you might notice some tables already have hole but usually there's only one. I know I made one on a few tables while I was still in Amanah. Easier to handle wires since I placed my CPU on the floor and there aren't exactly any hole to let through the wires. Can be very messy and annoying without the holes. But seriously, it is vandalism. So do it on your own risk.

WoW depends on the student. Usually there will people hosting it but its not definite. Might not have anyone also hosting it.

As for open source, nope. UNITEN does not have it as far as I know.

my fren, my best advice to you if u bring a laptop make sure its really safe, i.e buy all the necessary safety equipment you need.trust me laptops in u10 are hot stuffs.they go missing very fast, in the apartment, in the car in the library in the toilet.no matter the place.believe me young ones and believe mah fren yg posted b4 me.

its better to be safe then sorry.and also any one wants info on apartment can pm me.ada kabel kuat biggrin.gif mwhahahaha

Not really. And its quite rude to say your roommate is the only suspect. Sometime our first roommate can be our best friend till end of uni (like me and my housemate).

I'm not sure about break in, but I did heard of it happen before (my brother; his TV got stolen). There is one case in Amanah where internal of my fren's PC got stolen. CPU itself still there, but GC, RAM and Monitor all gone. And there was no sign of break in. And mind you, we were staying with trustworthy friends.

It is better to be safe than sorry.

u need seperate locks...small one since the hole is tiny..guess what u should check it out first and later ask ur parents to get it for you from the nearby shops

My parents will be accompanying me during registration, so I guess they can take a look at the room that I'll be placed in, right? Within that day they can go out of the university and still come back right? I mean if I want a padlock and I ask them to get one for me. And to confirm, there's a hole for us to insert a padlock in on the wardrobe right?

Wow, that's good to know. But is it safe to leave my laptop in a locked wardrobe when I'm away?

Did any of you seniors bring your laptop during orientation? My laptop and iPod are my babies, I'm worried they'll go missing if I bring them with me during orientation.

if you register on saturday you're generally free the whole day, can do what you want. i think meals will be provided, but it's up to you to stay or go out with your parents. if not mistaken the orientation only starts on sunday afternoon.

laptop i'm not so sure, but ipod you're definately gonna bring with you all day rite? so that shouldn't be much of a worry

iPod you can just bring it along. But do take care of it well. Don't wanna drop it anywhere right.

Laptop is really a risky business. You can lock em in your wardrobe but locks that small is not that hard to break.

I'm not trying to psych you, but laptop is just plain dangerous to bring. I did brought it last semester, but I stayed in Cendi and always locked my room whenever I'm out. I also used those laptop lock and anchor it to my table/bed.

So until you befriend your roommate well and able to trust him, there's always a risk. Best is to be prepared. Lock your drawer and wardrobe. Make sure to use those laptop locks as well. Anchor it like I've said previously. And most important, do keep your room locked all the time if there's no one in that room. Lock it even if there's other people in the house (housemates).

Some people can be very trustworthy. Like last semester I had a new housemate. Never knew them but one of them just put his laptop in the living room. Open space, easy for anyone to grab. But me and my friends really ain't gonna do anything to it and of course it remain safe till the semester ended. But not all are as with my friend's case. He stays outside but still can be used as an example as staying with unknown people. Lost his wallet, laptop and handphone. A really sad case.

My advice is, better safe than sorry. Lock all your belonging. Chain, padlock, anything you can think of to keep em safe. Once you think you can trust your roommate, then you can loosen up a little. But that depends on your own judgment whether he can be trusted or not.

I think I should really buy a laptop lock or two then. Oh, the room doors come with built-in locks or we have to buy our own padlocks for room doors?

Thanks for your replies biggrin.gif

yeah, before orientations starts you get to go to your room, clean up, do whatever you want smile.gif
the rooms come with locks. no padlocks, they're just normal door locks.

Tough.. well... you do have to wake up early, sleep late. A lot of group stuff. More towards boring. Very boring. Oh depending on the behavior of your batch mate, you can also get scolded quite a lot.

There are two days for registration. Saturday and Sunday. For saturday's, means you have a lot more time looking around uniten and do some simple shopping before settling in.
