u need seperate locks...small one since the hole is tiny..guess what u should check it out first and later ask ur parents to get it for you from the nearby shops

As said, the almari and drawer does have a place where you can lock it with a manga, but the manga you have to buy on your own. It is fairly small though. About the size of a pen maybe? Not exactly big.

For anyone bringing your laptop, make sure you have those laptop locks/chains. There has been many cases of missing laptop and risking of bringing your laptop without one is not advisable. But the bad thing is, on your table, there won't be any holes to anchor your laptop. My advice is although it is a vandalism of university's property, make a hole under the table. The back board is just plywood. Easy to make a hole. There's a solid wood in the middle so make two holes on each side. Some of you might notice some tables already have hole but usually there's only one. I know I made one on a few tables while I was still in Amanah. Easier to handle wires since I placed my CPU on the floor and there aren't exactly any hole to let through the wires. Can be very messy and annoying without the holes. But seriously, it is vandalism. So do it on your own risk.

if you register on saturday you're generally free the whole day, can do what you want. i think meals will be provided, but it's up to you to stay or go out with your parents. if not mistaken the orientation only starts on sunday afternoon.

laptop i'm not so sure, but ipod you're definately gonna bring with you all day rite? so that shouldn't be much of a worry

iPod you can just bring it along. But do take care of it well. Don't wanna drop it anywhere right.

Laptop is really a risky business. You can lock em in your wardrobe but locks that small is not that hard to break.

I'm not trying to psych you, but laptop is just plain dangerous to bring. I did brought it last semester, but I stayed in Cendi and always locked my room whenever I'm out. I also used those laptop lock and anchor it to my table/bed.

So until you befriend your roommate well and able to trust him, there's always a risk. Best is to be prepared. Lock your drawer and wardrobe. Make sure to use those laptop locks as well. Anchor it like I've said previously. And most important, do keep your room locked all the time if there's no one in that room. Lock it even if there's other people in the house (housemates).

yeah, before orientations starts you get to go to your room, clean up, do whatever you want
the rooms come with locks. no padlocks, they're just normal door locks.

Why my register date is on saturday 8.30a.m to 10.30a.m...? why ISFJ your register date is on sunday???

Added on June 22, 2009, 9:35 pmowh about laptop. do not bring it during orientation week! one of uniten officer said that most of new student do outdoor activities! so most of the time we will not be in our room. so make our laptop is an easier target! and believe me you cant find any suspect because you dont have any idea who steal it. because you're NEW! ( sorry abaut grammar)

uniten dont really have any ragging and bullying...i did listened to my ipod during the the long lecturers...but i only used one side of the earphone!! :-)

During my orientation time, i see that a lot of students go back after the orientation end..including me
Most of them are team building activities, and some speeches or motivational talks, then some training to guide you through your uni life.
such as counting your cgpa etc etc.

haha..E&E is quite tough, coz you have to know lots of physics and maths. a lot others will also tell you that it's the toughest among all the engineering courses here. but it's fun though, especially the labs, get to play with electronic parts

yeah you'll have the weekend to yourself. about the ptptn thing i'm not very sure, but during my time they had an officer coming to give a speech/talk on scholarships and loans. that's all. my ptptn was done much later.

There will be a session during orientation about all kind of loan and how to apply it. So make sure you dont skip or sleep because this session is important if you want to apply for PTPTN or MARA. For YTN, you can go to their office beside the Admin building for any enquery.

I am doing EEE too..make sure you score well in ur quiz and test troughout the semester..first year first sem is nt that easy cuz you have the endure the 4 credit hours programming and 2 math subjects...if u didnt score well in ur programming..it will really pull down ur overall pointer!..math part DE is quite easy but calculus is all about geometry cuz its advanced calculus 3(cont from the foundation calculus)..there are some mathematical stuff like "sinh" which i didnt learn during my stpm days were taught to the students during foundation and we do lack in a lot of other mathematical term as well..and remember u can add and drop subjects during the add and drop week..if ur lecturers are nt the "good" ones u and try to change them..if u wanna know about the lecturers u should ask aroundlah..but for any math subjects try to avoid abu bakar aka dr burn! avoid mr suhaimi for cprog as well..opt for masyurah! trust me on suhaimi !!

orientation as usual you will be seperated in to smaller group for some group activities...there will be ice breaking activities,lectures from the finance,hep,safety,engineering dept and etc...the faci's will teach you on how to count the cgpa,gpa and the system of uniten,campus tour and etc..basically its very important for you to follow the orientation...after that its all about studying!!..cherish ur orientation days k

just the report!..u cant pick ur lecturers for the first sem but u can do it for the following semesters as u will be able to do ur own timetable then!
but u can drop and add another lecturer during the first sem provided ur timetable do not collide and there are empty places left in the class which u gonna enrol to..

most of the time it is 30% test 20% quiz and 50% finals...but usually finals is 50% or abovelar!

yeah u can transfer credits to uniten if the subjects taught are the same in both the uni :-)

By the way, its not choosing lecturer, more to choosing class (section). Some subject may only have 1 lecturer but many section. For that, well, live with it 

I will bring it as i stay in kedah. It is inconvenient for me to get it from my hometown again but i will not bring it along during orientation and maybe will leave it in my uncle's house. But there are many advices that show laptop is not safety during orientation as there are many outdoor activities, it is impossible for u to bring it the whole time...

Yeah...If you don't have relative at KL, it is better for you to bring after the orientation. I am \so worry with my laptop's SAFETY...Don't know how to keep my laptop since the condition in uniten is worst...!! Some laptop has their own lock but mine doesn't have...haiz...

By the way, with all the talks on the safety of your belongings during orientation, afterward you will have class. And all those stuff, laptop included, will be left in your room. So laptop owners, plan well. Very well on how to secure your laptops.

Can't log in into Facebook and Blogger?

On Proxy Settings, did you make sure to tick 'Use this proxy server for all protocols'?

As far as I know, UNITEN does not block Blogger and facebook

yeah...do it online..later u can save the documents at the "dokumen pengesahan "section in the online ptptn thingy...they are in folders..u can save it in thumb drive and print it either the photostat shop in COE or the one nearby the library( both the shops are notoriously famous for breeding viruses in ur thumbdrive..pls scan the thumbdrive before using it in ur lappy or pc)

but we get our loans approved in a few weeks time...but the ptptn fellar came only 3 weeks b4 the finals....and the money was put into ur acc one week b4 finals only ....luckily the finance department was kind enuff to unblock all the ptptn applicants from doing the registrations and etc :-)

so u got ur timetable??..pm if u wish to knw anything about the subjects and etc..i would try my best to help you as i suffered a lil in my first sem :-(

But another problem, when I came to the "Cetak" page I couldn't find any "Save" option in the page. I can't save it into my thumbdrive to be printed out soon. I'm thinking of going to the computer lab or something to use the computer there and then print from there. Is it possible?
