Tutorials are quite important for you to understand what you learn in class. Missing em might be difficult for some people to catch up.

I'm no CE student but can comment on environment.

Mostly its 'dead'. Not a lot going on. For fun usually student just go out somewhere. Certainly a good environment for studying as there's very little distraction but to some, its just plain ol' boring.

Transport wise, sucks big time. There are bus but they are slow and not punctual. Bring your own vehicle even if its just a bicycle.

Internet, this semester it has been the WORSE in UNITEN's history. Mostly down and while its up, its crawling slower than a 56k.

Intranet on the other hand, on my time its quite bustling. A lot of people, a lot of private servers sharing all kind of.. well, stuff. There's quite a few CS/Dota groups. Not THAT many people but enough to go by (I think). But lately there have been very few on the intranet even though number of students increases each batch. Probably mostly just more interested in Facebook or just plain outdoor activities.

As for facilities, I think they have everything. A small gym, a pool, quite a few fields, tennis court, basketball court, hockey field. The library is only for academic purposes. They don't have any novels to read.

Location of the U I think its not bad. Everything is not as far away for as long as you have your own vehicle. And its outside of any town/city so its more relaxed. Even if its far, the uni is close to Seremban highway exit as well as LDP.

Multi-racial, well the uni does have all races, even foreigners. These days also I've seen number of foreigners have increased as well.

Err accessing intranet server is just by typing their name. For instance aibob, just type

http://aibob/

You can get more list by going to aibob and see which server is on.

These days private server are few and far in between with seniors graduating and freshman not interested in sharing their stuff. If you happen to have a huge library of something, just open up a server. Its not really that hard.

Even 3k I think is already way too much from what I hear. Most fresh grad to my knowledge max is 2.5k. The extremely lucky ones might get 2.6k.

But seriously people, what you should worry is not how much when you start. Starting is somewhat the same on any fields (common ones). The important thing is where it would lead you. Being stuck as technician is not going to help you far but working in the Oil & Gas for example will bring a whole lot of cash after some time.

It's all about you and yourself + attitude in working.

Like I said, it depends on how hard you work. You work hard, and you'll get your reward. But that doesn't blindly studying for 4 Flat. Work hard as in engaged in early days getting to know what you want to do. Make connections and such.

Yes there could be a certain amount of luck needed (connections for example), but if you're smart on where to look and what to do, your chances of getting a good paying job will come.

Another point of note, like I said, it doesn't matter where you start. Starting as technician first, sure go ahead and take some years in getting experience in working. Once you think you have enough experience, go challenge yourself with something more lucrative.

I have a relative working in Oil & Gas and currently working in Sudan. Once he came back to Malaysia he could actually bought an Estima by cash. Even half built his house with cash. No loan whatsoever. To my knowledge he didn't get it the day he graduated. It took him a while and a lot of hard work, but he got it nonetheless. It's all up to you. Work hard AND smart, you'll get to where you want. Lazy arse, then, well, good luck.

The world is not a beautiful place (work-wise). There is a lot of grads who are unemployed. But if you look closely enough, most who are not employed, usually just does not work hard enough or smart enough, or just plain lazy. Companies ain't going to hire you because of 4 flat so studying like insane does not guarantee you a job. Being smart and preparing yourself for it makes the chances of getting it higher (there's no 100%, just increasing the chances).

Anyway I'm no expert in this kind of stuff, but I do know the rules. Hard and Smart will get you somewhere. Lazy arse will get you to your bed.

Everyone knows there's a lot of parking in Residence/BV building there but what more can be said, they're far. Malaysians are lazy at heart. Park as close as possible without a care what kind of trouble it would cause other people. You should see what happen in CoIT. Soooo many parkings, yet people still want to park by the roadside. Heck there was even a time they would park at lecturer's slot and summoning does shiet! They just don't care. The worse I think is parking at the motorcycle parking space. Until later they had to put barriers and those automatic poles to restrict students from parking in those areas. That's also when the automatic gates started being implemented all around UNITEN.

I think they should do like they did at Cendi. Anyone parking on the roadside automatically clamped. Until now I haven't seen anyone dare to park at Cendi's roadside. Harsher punishment must be made to those idiots really.

The land near CoIT was already clearing up during my early days and that was years ago. Don't exactly know what they're building. A new apartment complex would be nice since they're taking a whole too many students these days.

By the way, there's a PC Fair? By CLIQ eh.. Those kids are really, well, kids trying to do things they barely know. Well at least they tried. I guess that's a first step, if the PC Fair doesn't suck too much that is. How was it anyway? Bad I presume?

Haha yes definitely fake phones indeed. That's to be expected from 'PC Fair' conducted by students. It will most likely be very dull and just not interesting. The same goes when I went to MMU version once. Very dull and boring.

The main problem when handling an event in UNITEN is that, UNITEN does not want to involve outside people too much. They want to be exclusive. Up to a point of stupidity. I remember last time me and and a few friends held a meeting to manage a LAN party event, we want to invite the students from nearby unis, they were very against it saying only UNITENians is enough. There can never be enough if just want to restrain to UNITEN students only. Sad case really.

The only time anything outside is ever going to come is when UNITEN name is being mentioned in a big way. Put it simply, if it benefit UNITEN and by that it means to the higher ups, its all good. When it comes to students, go to hell they ain't going to care. Some staff might care but against the majority that does not, nothing is going to change anytime soon or ever in my opinion.

It's actually at the 5th floor. 6th floor is dean's office and all.

For older CoIT students they might know that 5th was never used after CoIT was finished. Only about a year ago they finished it and gave the floor to ILSAS I believe. Completely nothing to do with CoIT. It has something to do with IT, but not CoIT (ILSAS communication dept I guess?).

Oh yeah, as for the land near CoIT. I just remembered something. If you guys happen to be going into Putrajaya, on the entrance there (the exit into Putrajaya), you can actually see all the way to CoIT. There's a land clearing as well. Tucked behind some trees you can see a board with Majlis Perbandaran Sepang on it. I guess those land clearing is MPSepang doings, not UNITEN's.

Full loan with 7000 salary is impossible for any kind of loans. That is unless you got someone in the inside.

By the way, if you're worried about the high fees, it's kind of stupid to still want to get a full loan since the payback will be rocket high.

Yes, but to my recall, the total amount given will be enough to cover your fees. Usually the loan (half) would be enough for your fees assuming you're not using it wrongly. In some semester the fees could be higher but it could also be less on another.

The problem with PTPTN is that the will pay directly to UNITEN on an specific amount every semester instead of exact fees. So if the fees is lower, the remaining will not be going to you, but to your other debts. If the fees is higher, you will need to top up on your own. The total loan given will be enough for the fees, but due to this payment system, it can cause quite a problem.

If you're on half loan, not sure if its still the same, but you will be given RM500 of allowance.

i don't know about that though. but what i can tell he is a good boy. For me, with that amount of salary, for sure i'll ask my parents to pay rather than applying for debt. laugh.gif

exactly. especially on PTPTN since the payback can only increase and by whole lot to that sweat.gif

Oh yeah, have you guys heard, starting next semester, apartment's fee will be as it supposed to. Meaning, the price you see on UNITEN's website for at least 2 years will be implemented.

They said the previous (and current semester) price is a 'discount'. Now they're taking back those discounts.

It will be RM280 on single apartment and RM200 on twin-shared.
