guys, i know mybe it has been asked before.
just want to know.

is it real hard to score/study in uniten compared to mmu.

n mmu vs uniten, which one beter for softwre enginerring/engineering type

thanks
*
Compared to MMU, no idea. But UNITEN from what I know for Engine courses, they are hard. I even heard some people scored 4flats after being kicked out from UNITEN. You will have to study real hard for it.

To all Foundation Students, don't bring cars. Very susah find parking wann... T_T

I thought Amanah had always had a lot of parkings? The ones in A5/A6 sure a bit cramped, but around A1/A2 there's usually a bunch of em.

2. All foundy will be merged into a class or we will all divided according to courses during the trimester?
*
You will obviously have a few classes. There are at least a few hundred students. No class can fit all of you together.

You will be divided to a few classes. Students per class depends on subject. Subjects with labs usually around 40-60 with each lab around 20 students.
No labs and class using the hall, maybe around 80 per class.

If its the same class, you may meet people from other courses but probably from the same major only. Usually they group people with same major to ease class transfer.

Foundation student's timetable is pre-arranged. You have the ability to drop and re-add a different class once a semester started, but you can't arrange beforehand. The college will arrange it for you.

You will have the ability to arrange timetable on the previous semester on your second semester of Degree if I recall correctly.

wow.. i felt like "back to school".....
wanna ask... jus want to confirm whuts in my head now..
is it like school.. i meant.. class start at 7.30 and end at 2.30?..
*
haha of course no. Its university for god sake. Just because your timetable is pre-arranged doesn't make it like a school. Class time at 8AM and ends 10PM but that doesn't mean you'll have class for that whole 14 hours. Sometime you might have 8-10 then 2-4. It all depends on the class. Different class with different sections have different times. If you're unlucky like me, can get 8AM till 4PM. Different building some more. Very painful times sweat.gif

wow.. got to concern about lucky n unlucky schedule also?.. i thought foundies had their classes at the COE?....
i heard that from male apartment to classes is way to far to walk?... n we cannot depends on the shuttle buses provided?
how true was that?
Not really. There are quite a few buildings in uniten. CoIT, COE, BV, Admin, Ikal. Sometime you will have classes at different building.

COE's building from Amanah or Cendi is a bit far if you're thinking of walking. Far in a sense that by the time you get, you'll be sweating a lot from the heat. Totally no shades. But its not rare to see people walk to classes. Best option is if you don't have an automobile is get a bicycle.

Shuttle bus sucks. They're slow and well, sucks. End of story.

no weekends off?..

Classes are from Monday to Friday but people tend to like having the Friday off even at the expense of a bit painful Monday to Thursday.

hey guys..what do I wear for foundation daily class/lecture? shirt or kemeja?
*
Formal for Mondays (kemeje, slack, black shoes), casual on other days (with shoes).

QUOTE(azmi@uniten @ Jun 6 2010, 07:33 PM)
So can't depend on shuttle bus, and walking is also not a choice, foundie can't bring their own transport..
wow.. better set camp nearest to the class...
*
Bring a bicycle la biggrin.gif

QUOTE(bobchanz @ Jun 6 2010, 10:44 PM)
if u bring a motorcycle, dont have any problem normally...
if u bring a car, sometimes u can kene saman by uniten guard coz dont have in campus student sticker...
so, good luck.... biggrin.gif
*
Ok here's the deal with UNITEN's vehicle policy. If you want to bring your own vehicle, no matter which year you're in, go ahead. I myself survived a few semester without stickers. The bad thing when you don't have one is sometime the guards won't let you in. This is a rare case. At most 3 times per semester. Sometime none. Usually will only happen when there's case (robbery, etc2).

As for the summon, if you don't have a sticker, they can do shit about it. Its just a piece of paper that you can throw out. If you're registered and got a summon, you can't get away. If you don't pay, it goes directly to your ledger balance. No way to run. Oh but if they summon you when you're around, it goes straight to your ledger balance.

So to get or not to get, you pick. Some of friends were lazy enough so they survived without. I applied mostly. Only a few sems I felt lazy coz you need to have a photocopy of the grant as well (lazy to go home and make a copy).

Based on my experience, there are quite a few cars without sticker. A lot of cars in Amanah as well. Amanah is only lived by Foundies after all (disregard foreign students, active seniors or MPPs).

btw, how long eh for 1 day? i mean how many hours did we need to stayed for orientation?

lol if 5 days with 11 hours...  sweat.gif

I can't exactly remember how is it for the whole week but I do remember waking up on sunrise and went back at 10 or 11 or sumthing.

Well the part where its pretty much useless for me is how the internet works back then. It needs to be applied before you can use. These days all you need to do is plug in and you're good to go so I guess it's ok to bring it on from day 1.

yes, they were called apartments because got living room + balcony + 2 rooms + 1 bathroom + 1 toilet + shoerack + kitchen cabinet + tv cabinet + sofa + coffee table + all those necessary stuffs inside the rooms. smile.gif

wahh!! Uniten!! such of luxury!!  notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif
*
Haha yeah. That is the kind of things you'll get after paying that much. And even then they keep raising the fees every 2-3 semesters or so doh.gif

Oh btw, for Cendi, since it's single, its 4 rooms. And not to forget you'll also get a study table as well. For amanah, the table is attached to your bed while Cendi it's outside your room. 2 people per table. And of course, a chair for each table (in amanah that is). Proper quite big almari for all your clothes as well.

Oh yeah, though it is an apartment with kitchen, no cooking is allowed. not even using those conductive stove. microwaves and minibars are alright (big fridges are a no).

QUOTE(kumagaitaro @ Jun 16 2010, 07:59 PM)
did they provide TV in the apartment?
*
No. you can bring your own though.

QUOTE(Ann92 @ Jun 16 2010, 08:59 PM)
hi i m new here..i hav a few question n hope that senior can help me out:
1)Is Uniten muadzam shah campus good?Is da lecturer good and is the hostel ok?
2)wat is the language used?
3)can we wear jeans or short sleeve shirt or skirt or dress?
4)is thr washing machine in the hostel?
5)is thr mostly bumiputra?
thx a lot..=>
*
1) not muadzam student so can't comment much other than muadzam is somewhat in the jugle. there's nothing around it. slow internet as well. 2Mbps for the whole campus last I heard.
2) all class are conducted in english except for the obvious malay language class as well several others.
3) jeans and short sleeve are fine. as for skirt or dress, just try to be proper. you're not going in a club or anything.
4) I'm assuming you're in Muadzam so can't say. there's a dobi in amanah and cendi in putrajaya campus though.
5) I believe so.

can we boiling water in the kitchen?
There got kettle or not?
*
murni is exactly as cendi. same building design. ilmu is a little different. not to sure about it but shared room are in ilmu. as for laundry, can't say. most girls I know wash their own clothe.

no electronic devices are provided. only the basic necessities. you can boil water of course. just everything to do with cooking on a stove is a no.

oh btw, one different thing cendi and murni is that all 3 building in cendi are for students while only 2 in murni are for students. the third is a little different specialized for married people.

Any type of cooking with stove is not allowed. so be creative and use microwave/oven (the small one of course)/rice cooker.

oh yeah, bring your own pillow. some room does have pillow but trust me, not the kind you want to sleep with sweat.gif

I also brought my own chair. the chair they provide is fairly simple dinner table chair and really pain the a$$ after a long period

not necessary, but if u do feel uncomfortable on using the chair provided, u can bring another one yourself.

Yeah. It does get uncomfortable after a long sit. Like I said, its mostly a dinner table chair. Not the kind you would be sitting hours on end (for studying of course).

Those chairs are not reliable too. Easily broken. That's if the previous senior hasn't break 'em already
