Manchester United & Tottenham Hotspur Eye Japanese Starlet

The Premier League champions and the north London club are both reportedly keen on Catania youngster, Takayuki Morimoto...

QUOTE
Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are keeping their eyes on Catania's exciting sensation Takayuki Morimoto, according to Itasportpress.

The 21-year-old Japanese star has enjoyed his best season yet in Serie A, scoring seven goals in 23 games for the Etnei to help them escape relegation.

Morimoto signed for the Sicilians in 2006 from Tokyo Verdy 1969 and his current deal expires in 2011. However, the report suggests a €10million bid from either of the Premier League sides could see him leave this summer.

It is said that Manchester United are currently in pole position to sign Morimoto. Reports claim the Red Devils already made enquiries for him back in January, and talks could now open up following the latest developments at Old Trafford.

The news comes just as United annouced they would not be holding onto Argentinean striker Carlos Tevez, after he failed to agree terms with the club.

SOS

Liverpool hero Molby: Gerrard worth more than Ronaldo
21.06.09 | tribalfootball.com

Liverpool hero Jan Molby says Steven Gerrard is worth more than Real Madrid's £80 million man Cristiano Ronaldo.

Molby told liverpoolfc.tv: "It's almost pointless putting a transfer fee on Gerrard because there are certain players who will never be for sale, and he falls into that category, whereas I feel Ronaldo will probably be up for sale again at some point.

"But all of us at Liverpool know how valuable Gerrard is to the club and he would surely be worth more money than Ronaldo."

Valencia U-turn: Villa not for sale
20.06.09 | tribalfootball.com

Valencia have withdrawn star striker David Villa from the summer market.

Clubs such as Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United and Chelsea had all been linked with Villa as financially-troubled Valencia seemed poised to cash in on their prize asset.

Los Che president Manuel Llorente even admitted in midweek that although there were no offers on the table at that point, they had held talks with Madrid while other teams, including Barca, had asked about the player's situation.

However, Valencia have now decided to take the prolific hitman off the market, and will only consider selling if they receive an "amazing offer" for the player.

"We have taken the decision to not sell David Villa. We've taken this decision after some days of thought in which we studied the advantages and disadvantages," Llorente told reporters on Friday night.

"We think David Villa is the best striker in Europe and we have the fortune to have him in our team and we are going to fight to keep him."

Llorente insists the move is not a ploy either, saying: "It's not a strategy, but to avoid all the rumours. Because they affect Valencia, the media and the player.

"We have to be calm and think about the project. When we talked of selling it was because we thought that some players could bring in a lot of money, like Villa. But it's not been like that."

Llorente did admit though that the decision taken by Valencia does not necessarily guarantee Villa will still be at the Mestalla next season.

"I cannot say that because there could arrive an amazing offer," he added.

Nah, he's good the way he was last season. Us fans only fap to goals, not assists. Oh, let's also forget his fapbulous assist Vs. WHU because it was Ronaldo who scored. viva ronaldo viva ronaldo.

I still don't understand why ppl can't come to terms with Berbatov's performance last season. Imo, he did pretty well considering its his first season playing with us and him adapting to a deeper role than the one is Spurs (not sure if its Fergie's orders or his tendency to drift to the center). Statistics have shown that Berbatov is a very efficient player. Yeah sure, he's not getting the 30 goals we expected of him when he signed for 30+ million, but he's contributed in so many areas of our team and was a fresh addition to what we had. Popped in important goals too. I hope he shines in the coming season with Rooney and who ever Fergie decides to sign to shut all the critics up.

I'm not gonna comment much on Tevez. If its true that he's rejected the contract we had on table after matching the valuation, than good riddance to him. Apparently wanted to win the fans on his side, than proceeds to do a U turn like that? Bloody hell. Losing half of our fab four will be a blow, but Fergie's wise enuff to replace them.

Okay, put it in your words then.

What is your solution for our 30goals per season scoring machine?

I'd say combine Rooney and Berba up front, have them share the load, and a playmaker(a really good one) that could get at least 15 goals per season.

It's hard to replace Ronaldo. So why not disperse it all instead of having it all on one player? Yeah the youths may get in 10 games or so, but SAF, please do get someone who will command the midfield.
*
minus the penalty it will be 20+, is the same situation when Nistelrooy left us, question who will score the goal he achieve every season, in the end SAF sort it out

QUOTE(Makakeke @ Jun 20 2009, 11:26 PM)
not a chance.

QUOTE(Makakeke @ Jun 20 2009, 11:34 PM)
based on what we've seen last season. i'm happy for your optimism but seriously? Ronaldo+Tevez scored > 40 goals last season, that's how much they need to score in addition to what Ronaldo+Tevez had scored last season.
*
QUOTE(Makakeke @ Jun 20 2009, 11:53 PM)
You shouldn't take away set pieces. Ronaldo is our main set piece taker, well freekicks at least. who's gonna take them now, and score them? And like I said, don't undermine the power of money, Ribery and Benzema might still come to United and I'm most certain at least one will arrive (Benzema most likely).
*
seriously, u are really spoiled by Ronaldo's goal
look at him back to 1st and 2nd season, scored around 10+ goals, did u ever imagine how he would boast up to 42 goals in a season? is all guidance by SAF. Be optimistic, SAF will sort it out, is just the same situation when RVN left us.
i have to agree kobe, Nani and Berbatov will step up next season, not really sure about Tosic, hopefully SAF will get him more game
Ronaldo set piece will never match up with Beckham set piece, i'll vote Beckham for the best set piece taker in Man Utd history, don't worry about set piece taker, Giggs, Hargreave, Nani, Rooney, Carrick and Berbatov will take it, or maybe take turn based on position

look at SAF past buying in transfer market, most of the proven player he bought is mostly proven in EPL, unless he willing to gamble on some youngster, but next season it will be a tough season, i doubt he will

On that note, I believe our next freekick taker would be Hargreaves, no doubt. His conversion rate is the highest in the team lol
