I think you guys missed the posts from pages 90+ to 120+ where Utd posters agreed that Utd didn't play well the moment the game ended. Then some Arsenal (or Pool) poster posted a mocking response and it got deleted, I know because my response was deleted as well (because I had quoted him). It went downhill from there.

Iniesta have time to grow with experience players. He played with Deco, Ronaldiho, Eto, Henry, Marquez, Xavi etc etc. If Henry, Viera, Pires is still with us, we probably been better. Now there is no one to lead the team. Everybody is learning from each other. There is no role model for the kids. T.T

Arshavin arrival really shows the impact of purchasing an established player. Hope AW will work his wonders again. He did some magic on getting promising young players, now its time to get an experience guy.

if we can add barry or alonso to our ranks, i would be thrilled to bits... of course right now, the only thing we have is rumours. however, it is known that barry has been looking for a move to a club with european football and that alonso for some reason doesn't really rank very high in rafa's books....

and if wenger is serious about bringing players with experience who can give us that extra edge, both these players are decently priced and aren't past their prime yet.

but until that happens.. i'll just continue dreaming... heheh...

Arsenal could match the 12m price tag, but not the 100k per week salary that has been offered by citeh. If Arsenal do really offer that much of salary to Barry, it will definitely cause unrest in our dressing room since most of our more "senior" players and heck even RvP and Andrey dont get 100k per week. I rather not see that happen.
The signing of Barry is a marker for City. Unlike the Craig Bellamys and Wayne Bridges of this world, they have signed a player who could easily slot into Arsenal’s team. They have signed a player Arsene Wenger once wanted.

Maybe the Arsenal boss is eyeing somebody better. Maybe he has earmarked the new Patrick Vieira.

hmmm      ... No news from Pool regarding Barry this summer probably shows that they have placed all their support for Alonso. No news from arsenal probably shows that :

1) Denilson and Song are good enough in the eyes of Le Boss. Le Boss did mention that the area he's most probably going to strengthen is our defence. He did not mention anything about our midfield if i remember correctly.

2) Le Boss already has someone better in his mind. *cough cana cough*     

Frankly speaking, all these Alonso, Barry, Melo talks are just fantasy.
Arsene don't have much cash to spend so the new signings will most likely be bargain deals.

Vermaelen will be converted to DM... eheheh...

yeah! the most interesting idea came from a comment in soccernet.

we should be happy to sign vermaelen and should stick with senderos and gallas. Reason ? Move Kolo to CM/DM.

whoaa... now.. i know Kolo used to be a striker and i think the idea is not far fetch. Maybe AW is mooting this idea because he did try Kolo in some midfield position last year. I think having Kolo at CM/DM could possibly solve our problem! we've been speculating high and low, but the best possible answer is right in front of us! Having Toure at CM/DM should be our best option. He got the right qualities and he should be able to work well with Cesc and the defense.

Also, this will allow Denilson/Song to be rotated into that role. This should be better for them as they fight for their places in the 1st team. Toure is the perfect mentor, if u ask me.

It'll be perfect for Djourou and Senderos too. Gallas will be their mentor and they could be ease onto the line up and improve. I think it's vital that we re-sign Gallas in order to add experience to the team. so, the 1st eleven should look like :-

note that i didn't include Ade because i think he's on the way out.

CB Backups? assuming Senderos is back, we have abundance of backups. Sendy, Djourou, Song (can play CB what), Silvestre, Nordveit.

RB and LB should be fine with Clichy, Sagna, Eboue, Gibbs and Traore.

Midfield and up front? we have abundance of talent and qualities!! Rosicky is coming back, we still have Bischoff, Ramsey, Wilshere, Denilson, Diaby (urgh), Eboue, Eduardo, Vela, Bendtner.

How about up and coming kids? Watts, JET, Simpson, Randall, Barazite?

hmm.... i think 1 more signing would do good for the team... but i can't blame AW if he decided to stop now and concentrate on pre season.

As I pointed before, adding steel or energy into the midfield is welcome but it will cause the midfield overcrowded. Therefore, if AW is really bringing someone to partner Fabregas, he has to think of what to do with Denilson, Song, Diaby (and Ramsey).

RvP's contract is tricky. He has a lot to think now... mostly because Arsenal's direction towards the new season. Will we be able to challenge the title with:
1) MU being strong and rich (after CR7/9 sale)
2) Liverpool's continuous improvement (they just got the highest-paid defender of all-time)
3) Chelsea's & ManC's deep pockets

Instead of concentrating on Gallas, I'd like to suggest both Gallas and Toure to stay. They both are very much needed despite being reported of having conflicts between them. Losing either one is a big loss to Arsenal.
AW has declared that Toure won't be playing as DM due to stamina issue. I do think he can bring the energy to the midfield - if stamina is the issue, maybe he can come in as substitute or something - but that will be a waste to me
