Depending on which airline you are flying with and also what are the terms and condition of the ticket that you've booked. Usually promotion air tickets can't be change so maybe need to forfeit. Check with the airline company you bought with.

With all (if not most) of MH flight, doesn't matter which destination, they normally have a few classes of tickets - i.e. Economy Promo, MH Basic, MH Smart, and MH Flex. Each has different T&Cs. Example for Economy Promo, you can't get refund if you cancel, but with the others, you can cancel for a fee. As for changing the flight dates, it depends on the new flight ticket price as well. It's best for you to contact them directly to find out the additional charges.

So its not advisable to spend another night at Te Anau ? Leave to Queenstown after the Milford Sound cruise ?
If thats the case, is 2 days enough in Queenstown ?

Day 1 (3rd)  - Arrive CHC at 5am, Pickup car rental and start driving to Franz Glacier
Day 2 (4th)  - Stay @ Franz Glacier
Day 3 (5th)  - Drive to Lake Wanaka and explore surroundings (overnight)
Day 4 (6th)  - Drive to Te Anau (overnight)
Day 5 (7th)  - Milford Sound (overnight @ Te Anau)
Day 6 (8th)  - Drive to Queenstown (overnight)
Day 7 (9th)  - Stay @ Queenstown
Day 8 (10th) - Drive to Mt Cook (overnight)
Day 9 (11th) - Drive to CHC (flight @ 845pm)

Hi, I would advise as below:

Day 1 (3rd) - Arrive CHC at 5am, Pickup car rental and start driving to Franz Glacier
Day 2 (4th) - Stay @ Franz Glacier
Day 3 (5th) - Drive to Lake Wanaka and explore surroundings (overnight)
Day 4 (6th) - Drive to Te Anau (overnight) , visit surounding area, ON@Te Anau
Day 5 (7th) - Te Anau- Milford Sound-Haftday Cruise-QT (overnight @ QT)
Day 6 (8th) - Day trip to Glenorchy (overnight@QT)
Day 7 (9th) - Drive to Mt Cook, on the way can visit Arrowtown and wineyard, ON@Mt Cook
Day 8 (10th) - Drive to Lake Tekapo (ON@L. Tekapo)
Day 9 (11th) - Drive to CHC (flight @ 845pm), try to depart Lake Tekapo before 2pm, it take 4-5 hr to reach CHC

If thats the case, is 2 days enough in Queenstown ?
It subjective, it depend whether you like QT or not?, but the scenery surrounding QT was amongst the best in SI.

For me, QT at least 3 day, if you want stay longer, I would suggest stay another nite@QT on day 7,
on day 8, drive to Mt Cook-Lake Tekapo, on the way can visit Mt Cook for 2 hr, actually not much thing to see at Mt Cook at Summer,
ON@L. Tekapo

I love QT. Initially plan to stopover for 3 days before heading to Invercargill. Love the place so much that I extended the stay for 5 days. Put up next to Lake Wakatipu (Lakeside Motel). The scenery kept me in admiration to stay longer. I was there during Winter 2010, few days after the “Big Dump” – record snow in a day. Went skiing at the Remarkables, all played many adventurous sports. So many things to do, so little time.

Still remember I purchased AA for RM1k (all inclusive) for 2 pax!.

Note: I am a wanderlust, and Lake Tekapo still remains the most beautiful place I have ever seen (Winter-Not sure about other seasons though).

Ibought my ticket to NZ with MAS during promo. They charge RM250 per ticket to change date but the price when I bought & the time I change the date is not much different. So bear in mind, you have to pay the fare difference + changing fee. Changing fee is vary depending on destination. Sometimes RM100, sometimes RM200 or more. Chk with MAS for more info.

Look like Itineraries 2 c/with shorter travel mileage,
Actually at this point of time, not much icing top mountain view, unless
in winter, the Arthur's pass and some pass between QT and CHC was amasing with icing top scenery.
For traveller who repeated this route, it not worth the price pay for.
It will save you on petrol cost and have more time spend at QT.

You already brought all the flight tickets? If I'm planning the trip, I'll skip CHC entirely and just fly from AUK to QT.

janson_kaniaz, you are right but budget airlines doesn't fly direct to south. Only SIA fly to south island direct? Good luck checking so far i nvr had the chance to check out SIA promo.

10&Counting, Booked in May 2013 during their Pay 1 Fly 2 promo. Flying in November 2013. I bet if AA still flies there it would be much cheaper.

I booked KUL - SIN, SIN - AKL in different booking to enjoy the lowest rate. Troublesome part would be i have to get my luggage and basically enter Singapore thru immigration and check in again for my Auckland flight wink.gif

Most flights fly KL-Auckland direct then you take a domestic flight from there to CHC.

You can try Air NZ and Jetstar for domestic flights. Jetstar luggage is damn expensive IMO.

SQ very expensive for me.
