Annex A to Form 4A is enough. What more can your current employer testify about you?
No need. I applied for PR 3 months after arriving in Sg... so I didn't have anything from IRAS, no previous employer etc etc. In Annex A, your current employer already states how much your current salary is. But I guess there's no harm if you want to submit your tax assessment as well.

I only submitted copies of the following with my application.

Explanatory Note Item #7
(a) passport
© work pass
(d) educational and professional certs
(f) birth cert
*
Same here.. I apply for PR after 1.5 month I reach Sg. I only submit 1 Pay slip, copies of passport / birth cert / work pass / degree certs / a testimonial from company and form 4A. My employer didn;t fill in Annex A.

If your are qualify for EP, most likely you will be able to get your PR.

Just out of curiosity, how many of you knew early on that you can go through the auto clearance gates at Sg immigration using only our Malaysian passports?

I only found out last Thursday night at Tuas immigration. Seems like I  bodoh-bodoh wasted over 4 years queuing at the manual clearance counters when there was no need to. I wonder why the immigration officers never once made a remark or asked me why I didn't use the auto clearance gates instead.
*
I used to travel back to JB during weekend.. If not mistaken, it's only last year, where I notice suddenly the 2 special lane reserve for Sg passport used to be quite empty was so crowded. I was wondering why so many singaporean wanna jam with us. After a few weeks, I notice some of them are using dark red color Passport (malaysia), not the orange-red color passport. The Auto gate is actually not design for Malaysian PR, so they never mention about it. haha

The only one time I am asked to use the Auto clearance gate is when I travelling by KTM train. The office ask those who is Sg citizen / PR to use the Auto gates, as the Check point manual counter is so crowded but the auto gates is empty.

You get approved and straight contribute full rate? Normally for those case that you need to bear your employer CPF, you will start from the first rate which is 5% ( you) and 4.5%( employer).
the rate is given in http://mycpf.cpf.gov.sg/Members/Gen-Info/C...es/ContriRa.htm

The contribution rate suppose to be
1st year employee 5% / employer 4%
2nd year employee 15% / employer 9%
3rd year onwards, employee 20% / employer 14.5%

But you can negotiate to ask the company to pay Full 14.5%, and you pay the 5% for 1st year and 14.5%/15% for second year.
Or you and your company both pay the full amount (3rd year rate) from 1st day.

For a company, there is a quota on how many Foreigner they can employ base on how many Local Citizen / PR they have.
For example: maybe for every Sg citizen, they can employ 5 foreigner. And in these 5 foreigner, only 2 can be holder of WP, 2 can be S-pass and the other 2 must be holder of Q-pass or higher. If there is no such quota, all the company will employ many Foreign worker, and there will be no job for the local.. Since local always ask for more. There is a levy for WP holder and EP holder at different rate.

Come to think of it, I believe it's SGD20 instead of SGD30.

Thee's also a flat COE charge of SGD5 for Malaysian registered cars if you are driving into ERP designated areas.

Added on June 4, 2009, 11:08 amThe only "loophole" would be to stay in Johor and commute daily to and from Singapore with a Malaysian registered motor vehicle.
*
It;s a flat ERP charge of SGD5 to your AutoPass, not COE.

If you are a SPR staying in JB will not allow you to drive your Malaysia registered vehicle into Sg. Only EP / WP holder can do that.
They are suppose to get a SG Driving license after staying in SG for more than 1 year. But I believe many of the driver didn't convert their license.

When you mention taht locals alw ask for higher salary, any source to support your claim? If you are referring to labour worker, aunty uncles at food court, perhaps yes.

But if you are referring to professionals talent, then I think locals and the foreigners are on equal opportunity and pay scale. At least that is what I think and encounter at my work place.
*
Sorry no proof. It's for the entry level. not experienced staff. Example from my company is Like tat. A Singaporean guy with NS, salary is about $500-$700 higher than a guy w/o NS.. and these guys, (at least 3 ppl I talked to) still complaining salary too low.

True for oil&gas, but I am from E&E background. This field is hardly hit by recession.
Even I getting a E&E job in sg is considered lucky cause I only holds 2nd upper from UKM.
Now I a bit regret for choosing E&E degree when entering varsity.  sad.gif

It's not just what your course you study. Although it;s true that the course you study and what you have done during your final year will affect your choice of Job. But for EE graduates, the option is more that what I have as a Science Graduate. So it;s always a personal issue rather than what you have studied..

WTF...

Today I only knew that the land of Tanjong Pagar Railway station and its rail tracks are under Malaysia's sovereign.

Malaysia still wants to occupy and bully this land scarce nation.
*
I can't agree with your "bullying" statement.
It's under agreement since the Singapore independent from Malaysia. There so many agreement when Singapore split from Malaysia. Raw water supply, rail station / track are one of them. According to the agreement, the railway station, land along the track are belongs to KTM (Malaysia) and it can only be used for Railway purpose. THere is proposal to relocate Tanjong Pagar station to Bukit Timah, to free up the land for other development. But there is some argument between Mys and Sg regarding the Station. If you know how much the land cost.. then you will not be surprised.

Can I apply for PR after 3 month of working here? Just finish my probation period.. Cause I check the required document from the website, it is stated 6 month salary slip. Thank
*
The 6 month payslip is not necessary. I emailed to ICA before I apply for the SPR.
I apply for PR after 1 month (I am waiting for my payslip, and actually this is not necessary as my company give me a testimonial mentioning about my paid and contract status). I got the PR after 3 month. I am considered as fresh grad that time. My fren who work in Sg for 1 year get it in about 1.5 month. So.. it's really case by case basis. If you are a Young Malaysian with good education qualification, earning above a certain threshold, you can get the SPR easily.

U sure onot? I have search the Wiki and it did mention the railway track is related to SG's independence. The agreement is signned in 1918, far beyond before SG independence on 1965

Moreover, just bcos SG allow MY to build a railway station and track, MY granted independence to SG? sounds ridiculous..
*
I don't know where u get the 2nd statement.. Wiki never mention about it. Wiki said:

As a result of the agreements leading up to the independence of Singapore, the land on which the railway runs on is owned by KTM, and will remain so as long as the rail system is in operation.

if you can read chinese.. read this as well... got it from wikipedia reference.

Do more research before you wrote something?

I wouldn't exactly agree on your point here, so if a person screws up during his academic years therefore you can persume, in your own words "you're not a solid dependable person".  Your argument here is pretty vague. In my opinion if you do well in school its definitely an advantage but if you DON'T it will never be a determent for you to excel in your career or even for one to judge you upon.

I've seen a lot of "1st Class" students entering the workforce with their heads held high, knowing it all attitude crash and burn. You know the term "the higher you go, the harder you fall" this is a very common scenario with those who come into the workforce because most graduates, have in someway been influence by their lectures that if they suceed academically equals a sucessful career.

For fresh grads, please don't be deterred if you're results aren't excellent, join the workforce with the right attitude that's they key to suceed!
*
In short:
1. An excellent academic result won guarantee a good career..
2. a very bad result.. certainly will lower your scores.. you'll have to find ways to add your own value.. chances are always there..

just like ppl say "money is not everything, but without money, u can do nothing".

A same sentence spoken to different people will be interpret into different meaning.. Sometime people just confuse between a question and statement.

I always have to mention, whether I am giving a statement or asking a question...

Haha... I'm already riding a horse, but this recession, my horse behaving like a damn cow. Have put my resume out there again... just in case.

Added on July 20, 2009, 6:18 pmTherefore, don't screw up. Simple as that.

And of course it's occurred to us. Every time we sign a 30 year home loan agreement or 10 year car loan or simply have a family, we take a risk that we'll get screwed if we lose our jobs. A 1 year contract for a room or a flat is nothing in comparison. But that's life. Taking risk is a part of it.

Want to ask, if  working in Sg but staying in JB city, is it advisable, considering all the crimes?

Where to find a decently priced room to rent in JB city?

thanks
*
crime or not depend on many factor.. I had been in JB for 10 years. Nothing happens to me.. Can say I'm lucky? Maybe

If u don mind stay far the rent is much cheaper.. I stay about 25km from JB causeway. Rent a house with my frens for about RM500-600

but then, considering everyday I have to spend 6-7 hour for travelling from Sg to home everyday.. i chose to stay at Sg.

What I mean is that is it legal for a Malaysian to drive a Singapore registered car in Malaysia using Malaysian licence?

On the other hand, you cannot drive any car in other countries except for Singapore using Malaysian licence bcos Malaysian licence is not recognised as an international licence. You cant even drive in Indonesia using Malaysian licence but you can if you posses a Singaporean licence.
*
Not sure whether is legal or not to drive Sg car in Malaysia using malaysia license. You can email to JPJ to check.
I do email JPJ last year and they said we can drive Malaysia car in Malaysia with Sg License.

Singapore Driving License is NOT an International Driving License, although many ppl think it is. For a real International Driving License, you will need to apply for International Driving Permit (IDP) from AAS. http://www.aas.com.sg/?show=content&showview=8&val=135 So is Malaysia driving license. But what happening out there is that if you staying at certain place for a very short period (not as a resident), they will drive with their own country license.. Or in fact, many ppl drive Illegally.

Looks like he just dug himself into bigger dip shit hole since after going through his porn collection, the authorities have found kidde porn and now will be charged with possession of child pornography.

Stay tuned, u will most probably get to read this in the newspaper pretty soon.

My boss now saying he nearly get  heart attack coz he heard that of the child porn thing plus now employing a lawyer at Adelaide to try and resolve the matter. I wonder whats the rate of aussie lawyers since we will be paying the lawyer RM750 per hour.

My tap takes around 5 seconds to fill my 1.5L boiler. One minute, that means 18L. 25 minutes = 450L of water. Let's say 500L for easy calculation. 1m3 or 1000L costs S$2.03 at the higher domestic tariff. That means each shower you take... errr, took... costs a buck.

S$30 a month for showers. Double that if you shower twice a day. Plus S$2 a night for aircond, the utility bill for just one of you is easily S$100 per month.
*
Your tap water pressure very high lo.. 300ml/s... Depend on type shower head, but 300ml/s is might be too much.

It's really save alot if take bath using pail. I only need 2 standard pail.. which might be. err 40-50L ?
