Indeed you are true. That's why I said how naive I am. Hired a van to fetch us and the driver told us 1am to push off. I were like  shocking.gif  I did not expect this as I book my ticket much earlier.

Worse still, we can't sleep in the van, the driver keep talking with other driver on the phone with loud tone to check the status of the causeway. NIGHTMARE!

That's why I am flying tomorrow morning from SG-PG at only S$80(everything in)  drool.gif

QUOTE(Jurlique @ Feb 24 2010, 12:27 AM)
Tell u, use $100 to pay levy... then use $100 to bet banker in baccarat (50-50 chance winning), if win then stop (at least u win back ur levy), if lose, bet $200 again in banker, if lose bet $300 so on and so forth... u bet 10 times, sure got 1 time is banker.
EP does not have any photo. U earning above $2.5K?
EP is just an very very ordinary card laminated with a plastic cover only. Unlike work permit (if ur paid is below $2.5K), it is a proper card like Msia IC whereby there is a photo embeded into the card.
*
There is a photo on new EP, MOM changed it since mid of last year..

QUOTE(Cho_Hakkai @ Mar 5 2010, 02:12 AM)
This is regarding income tax. It stated that we need to pay income tax when we work and stay in Singapore for at least 183 days. Does this means that we need to pay income tax when we stay and work in Singapore for 183 days when we start to get our WP/SP/EP or we start enter through the immigration?
*
Please read IRAS properly, if you work less than 183 days, u need to pay tax too, but 15%..

actually 2.8k is only 80% of my salary in malaysia..
so it is not a wise choice to accept this offer?
*
QUOTE(f.e.a.r @ Mar 10 2010, 10:30 PM)
considering that i can save more by working in sg..lets say i can save 1.5ksgd (MYR3600) with income SGD2.8k. I am not able to save that much in Malaysia although my salary is >4kMYR.

fyi, i haven't accept the job offer yet.still in dilemma
*
2.8k is only 80% of your salary in Malaysia? It comes to about 3.5k, right?
I really don't know how to do the math..

What is the best industry to join rite now in SG?

My fren told me as long as dun join construction, heavy machineries and property and shipping industries, you are safe.

All these industries will not be paying out bonuses nor increments for the next few years as these industries will be incurring losses.

nonsense!

Keppel is under the "marine" industry. And this year they paying out 9 months bonus. But i think 2010 wont be so hot since in 2009 they had at least 4 FPSO projects, this year currently 2 are active, another ship is under going preparation for the conversion.
*
which division you were refering to?
keppel FELS? keppel shipyard? keppel singmarine? or keppel corp?

I suppose there is a vacancy for project engineer since the project engineer who i used liaise with resigned and it seems they havent found a suitable replacement yet.

Added on March 16, 2010, 2:23 pm

When i said not doing so well, i meant the amount of projects that either tuas, fels or singmarine get. Not how much bonus the respective shipyards pay to their respective employee.
*
If they did not do well, why keppel still paid 9 months bonus?
how u define they did not do well in 2009? amount of project they get or amount of money they earn to define this?

QUOTE(reign226 @ Mar 23 2010, 01:06 AM)
My friend told me that the monthly salary at Keppel not that high, so that's why they can afford to give out such high monthly bonuses. For KFELS, I believe its bad because they haven't secured much contracts so they are working off their orderbook. But I heard recently they got a huge contract from Petrobras, 1bln or more. Then I started to see KFELS ads looking to hire Malaysian SPM leavers to be trained to work in their shipyard (check Jobstreet) so definitely they are up to something big. Petrobras currently the only major company still investing in building rigs, but oil prices have stabilized so maybe things will get better soon.

Decided to go to Job fair this Saturday. Anybody can share insight on how their PAPERLESS system works? The official website don't have any info.

Also, what's fun to do for an afternoon at Sg? Sentosa sounds rather boring...everything also need to pay $$$. Me and my friend DSLR kaki so we wanna go take lots of pics.
*
the petrobras contract awarded to keppel FELS singapore or keppel FELS brazil?
AFAIK, the contract is awarded to keppel FELS brazil, not singapore.

What about the legal ones? I believe the illegal ones are either tourist or students visa. If get caught, sure the students who moonlight as whores kena sent back, unless they offer their services to the immigration staff.

If you goto geylang, you would be labelled a OKT. Until now i still dont know what the OKT abbreviation means, if i not mistaken its for old sleazy uncles.

Nowadays the younger crowd prefer to go through the net since it offers them discretion on their seedy activities. Plus its very convenient whereby the girl will provide the guy the time and venue as long as you bring the cash. My boss son has used this online service.
*
this is not true! OKT means bapa ayam!
try to translate it in hokkien, you got it?

yeah.. that's one of my colleague been doing.. bought a HBD 4 room 10 years ago, using CPF for monthly loan repayment, and 10 years later, back to sg.. she sold off the HDB flat recently.. profit, not much, only 100K+ cash money!

yuummmy  drool.gif
*
10 years later back to sg? which means all this while, she is not in sg?
AFAIK, you have to obtain your PR status in order to own HDB, you have to sell your HDB within 6 months after you cancel your PR..

QUOTE(Lester1987 @ May 9 2010, 11:47 AM)
u can use debit card instead of credit card in SG. Their debit card is accepted by all merchants here. and the debit card works as good as a credit card as u will enjoy some rebate when u swipe it just like what we are getting in Malaysia. Not advisable to use ur MY CC here if not needed because the exchange rate sux. I have been using my DBS and citibank debit card here for the pass 6 months, so far non of the transaction got rejected as long as ur account have enough money. My friend tried to use his Malaysia Maybank Debit card here last time but it got rejected. Malaysia really "失败" in their debit card compare to SG.
*
Don't simply comment "Malaysia really "失败" in their debit card compare to SG."
Did you find out what is the problem? Your friend has enough money in his bank account? The credit card machine got any problem?

don't know. the interest is very low, i believe banks in Malaysia offer higher interest rate.

What about this? why don't you comment Singapore "失败" because Singapore offer lower interest rate?

my fren have around RM8k in the account and he is just doing a $70 transaction. because he didn't carry enough cash, i ended up helping him to swipe with my Malaysian Credit card and the transaction gone through with the same machine. it isn't that called "失败" and that made my friend dam embarrass as he was looking for me all around the place to pay for him.
*
your friend embarrass because of he didn't even bring $70!
