What I am trying to say is that, 4.5k definitely enough to stay comfortably in Singapore. Like what Sean Tang mentioned earlier, even cab/bus driver with salary ranges from 2k to 3k can afford to feed their family, buy a hdb and send their kids to university.

If you are getting RM4.5k, in Msia and offered S$4.5k in Singapore. I don't see why the offer is not lucrative enough. The only expensive thing here is the rental that ranges from S$500 to S$1,000. Food and travelling wise is so much affordable as compared to KL. Minus those you still have a disposal income of about 3k. Convert back RM7.2k.

The salary is comparable with the Msia market, will not differ too much.

$4.2k with company car sounds pretty decent.

hey guys,
I'm also MMU graduate.. hahha

Now I'm in Singapore searching for jobs, but so far after 2 weeks I only got 1 interview out of countless application. so, any ideas how to proceed? it's already 2 weeks and still no good feedbacks from companies/ job hunting websites

I'm getting anxious now... and it's not cheap spending RM in Singapore.

do companies in singapore really look for PRs and Singaporeans only??
*
I would suggest you to go home first, no point wasting your time here unless you have the time to spare.

Advice to potential job-seeker, try to gain a few years of experience in Msia first before deciding to come over cause firstly you know nothing of your job scope so it is very likely that you may not like the nature of your work, but jumping ship in Singapore is not easy either cause you are bound by EP (Working permit).

So by gaining a few years (or months) of experience, at least you are aware of what you are getting yourself into. Pay wise is almost similar to KL, so newbie forumer pls stop asking how much you are worth if you are holding what and what degree. none of us here works with recruitment agency hence cant possible give you an actual estimate. If you think you cant live on with S$2K in Singapore then go home. If you cant do your own budgetting, what makes you think we can?

Room rental in Singapore is within the range of S$500-1000, depending on location and amenities. Transport about 100 a month is more than enough. Food wise, allocate min S$20 per day. In fact food in SIngapore is slightly cheaper compared to KL, you can still get a decent bowl of mee for 2.50 in some places.

Oh btw, from my experience, Companies here dont really know Msian Universities except for UM, so regardless where you came from, it doesnt really matter, so stop comparing universities. On a side note, singapore employment is slowing down so good luck.

Thanks for the advise. Looks like I have to work extra hard to overcome my bad academic result.

I had a very bad habit of challenging what may have been say by people that getting the best academic result will land you on good university and a good jobs. This means that it just important to just memorize to get the best academic result to get a good job. All I have in in my last 5 years of education ( STPM and 3 years degree course) is just read and understand the content but not memorize it to get the perfect score by reading on current issues, internet and newspaper for general knowledge.
*
Not to say Good Result will guarantee you a good job but it will at least widen your options and chances of securing a decent job as compared to your peers who didnt do well. I do agree that scholars may not be the best employees but given a choice as an employer would you consider a 3rd class student or a 1st class student?

nobuta,

Seriously no difference with Msia audit firm, only thing is that you are earning in SGD, and mind you, SG audit firms dont really pay u more despite you are an ACCA grad (infact they don't care as you as you have accounting degree), which is slight different from Msia audit firm.

Google is God, google for audit firm in Singapore.

P/S: Yes, I am an auditor, but pls dun pm me for answers that can be googled unless you want to buy a coach bag tongue.gif.

Anyone own an f&b business in singapore? Currently am trying to get a food license for a snack bar. BUT that place am leasing doesnt have any water supply hence I can only sell ready made food, but I might be getting frozen pastry and reheat it at the cafe. So, not sure if the gov would approve my license since i have no water supply.

I have emailed the authority but didnt get any replies and the hotline is always jammed up!! The thing is taht, I need to set up the place first before applying for the license so just want to know what are my chances before proceeding.

The premise belongs to SBS, it is supposingly a gaming center so not cater for F&B hence no water supply. But we are trying to push for an F&B license.

It will be run like a 7-11 store. But I don't see any water tap in a 7-11 store.

Nicvoo,

Like what i have mentioned, the premise belongs to SBS, and it is a gaming zone thus not cater for F&B. I am dead sure they wont install water supply nor drainage pipe for me. But my concern is that, will that water supply requirement affect my chances of getting a F&B license?

Anyone owns a F&B business here? Just trying my luck though i know most of us are employees tongue.gif.

What exactly do you mean by "business development"? We've got a BD team in Sg but to me... honestly, I don't see them developing anything besides their golf swing.

Venture capitalists... you mean those private equity investors like KKR? Which side you do want to be on? The ones doing the investing or the ones asking for capital?
*
Haha, golf swing.. might be true.

Yes private equity companies, the ones doing the investment. Not exactly sure what I want, perhaps will stay on to audit a few more years until I am very damn sure to be in business or on payroll.

Eh... I know this may sound awkward, if HIV test turned out to be positive, does it mean I have no chance?
*
If it turns out positive, do you think you still have the mood to come to Singapore and work? If for me, I will head down to the lawyer to have my will drawn out and arrange for my funeral.

Looks like coz of the seriousness of the offense of child porn that even a normal lawyer wont touch. My company now got a QC (Queens Counsel) for our staff. Now even more ex, billing at 700 aussie dollar an hour for his services, and even then the QC guy told that can plea bargain for lesser jail term to around 3 years.

So remember boys and girls, dont bring porn in australia, much less child porn.
*
Your company is going to bear all the legal expenses?

I am dead against porno, why on earth do you GUYS love to download million of porn when you don't even watch all of it.

Many years back, I stumbled upon my ex-bf collection on his PC, and demanded him to delete them. And you know what happpen?

He broke down and CRY! He said it was his entire life collection. WTF!

And Guess what, we broke up cause I cannot stand his addiction to porn.

Got a question to ask. If I apply for PR now, is there any regulation state the number of days i need to stay in sg in order to maintain the PR status?
*
No such thing. But you need to renew your PR after 5 years and make sure you are employed or have a business here by end of fifth year.

You not taking up your uncles offer?
*
Yup, he did offer me, but I am contented with my position for now. PLus I still have 2 more ACCA papers to clear.

He would need 4-5 ppl for that position, i know that position aint easy, imagine setting up the whole account and finance team from scratch.

plenty of my friends back in Msia tried applying to Big 4 in Singapore with no success. Guess you just have to keep trying.

Try the medium tier audit firm.
