As for PR, try applying after the CNY, heard a lot ppl got rejected from May 09 onwards. Including a few colleagues of mine, degree holder, >3 years in sg, pay >$4k but still failed. Guess Sg GOV is coming down real hard on PR application these couple of months.

If she wants to practise here, why bother taking MICPA? ICPAS is not only for auditors but accountant as well. Added on January 8, 2010, 1:41 pmJust remitted my money via money changer at Arcade, only remittance charge of S$10 and rate was better than displayed. QUOTE(seantang @ Jan 8 2010, 03:31 PM) I'm curious. How does the money changer assure you that the remittance will take place? ie. you will receive the funds in your MY bank account? Is the transfer immediate and you can check online or something? The money changer would provide us with a remittance receipt, not immediate transfer but usually will be done on the day itself. Before that I was slightly skeptical, then another customer came and asked for the today's rate, she seems to be very familiar with the money changer and at the same time was remitting money as well. So I asked her how is their service and how fast can the fund be remitted. She said if smaller amount usually will be within the day, but if higher amount, it will be split into smaller denomination over a few transfer. In this case, I am remitting the money to my own Maybank account. So hopefully can get it today. As for remittance to other bank account (where you cant check whether or not the money has been transferred), they would keep a copy of successful remittance and if you wish to have a copy, you can collect it few days after that. Added on January 8, 2010, 4:03 pmJust checked my bank account, successfully received the amount. It was a cash deposit... I suspect that they collect the money here, then call their Msian counterparts to bank in or online transfer or they simply have a msia account (with lotsa) fund and transfer the msia ringgit to customer. Cost S$10 for a RM35K transfer. Cheap and safe!! dont think I want to cross over to bank in anymore since the rate is so reasonable. This post has been edited by chess_gal: Jan 8 2010, 04:04 PM |

Illegal? They have remittance license as well. It would be illegal if they dont have a license to remit on behalf.

The money changer in Singapore is very well regulated, if they try to be funny with your fund, simply report them to CASE and MAS, I can ensure you taht MAS will revoke their license like forever.
When I was there, the same lady who i spoken to said that she received a call from the money changer that the funds did not go through, so she came down to clarify the matter and remit more funds after that. I think it is relatively safe in Singapore to remit funds. AT least the one I went to has a big outlet and had their license hung out for all to see. And not forgetting that Maybank charge additional S$10 for agent charge or commission. This post has been edited by chess_gal: Jan 8 2010, 05:48 PM |

wseng,
refer to my reply. why is it illegal? If they have proper remittance license and you have receipt to prove, I dont think the money changer would short change you. Have you read any cases relating to this matter in Singapore? Added on January 8, 2010, 6:12 pmseantang, Orchard to Raffles Place not that far, just a few MRT stations away. Best to come before 12pm, but as for remittance service, usually you will get priority service and whisked away to their office. This post has been edited by chess_gal: Jan 8 2010, 06:12 PM |

stick to this thread, allows new forumers to get all answer they want by wadding through this thread rather than posting generic question like,
"I want to work in Singapore but don't know how" kind of question. |

While there are a few lucky fresh graduates from Msia that got hired at their first attempt, there are also a lot of unlucky ones that have been left in the dark.
As for the salary, there is no standard pay for fresh graduates, entirely depends on how much you think you are worth. If you fear competition, simply lower your expectation and you might stand a chance, but having to lower your expectation then don't complain later once you are employed. This is a fair market, a willing buyer and a willing seller, here in this case, a willing employer, a willing employee. |

QUOTE(yrh0413 @ Jan 11 2010, 07:36 PM) man do you have to be rude to a lady? I have been in Singapore for almost 2 years... I applied only 1 position in Singapore and I got it straight away. I think he is a guy, remember he mentioned it somewhere. And from the way he responses, quite confident he is indeed an XY. |

QUOTE(t0p_man @ Jan 14 2010, 12:02 AM) Malaysian fresh grads are difficult to land a job in SG. Dude, not necessary >5years la. There are always positions available for freshies but be prepared to compete against local, PRC, Indon (Chinese Indon) and India graduates.Atleast 5 years related working experience before giving a try. And Bachelor Degree upper to lower second class should be no problem. |

Btw, anyone know anything about SK Securities? Tried googled for it but no result found. They called me for an interview, apparently saw my resume online, I was in a hurry that time so didnt ask much about the company. Believe it is something to do with securities trading O.o at Delfi Orchard, can anyone confirm this?

Employment agency?? Hmm.. I just got a pay increment, gosh, to leave or not to leave? If I stay, high chance of promotion, if I go, I get other exposure but start all over again.
