Here's something I would like to share with potential BB owners.
I have just ordered a Bold from Maxis Center in One Utama. At first, I was told that no BB can be sold without contract. What the #$%^, right? Frankly, I was just there 2 days ago, asking the SAME people I talked to today, and they told me earlier that I could just get the phone and sign up for some other value call and BIS plans.
But as soon as I walked right into the store today with a firm objective to actually get one, they preyed on that and tried to sell me the contract too. They gave excuses like how the contracts were just enforced yesterday. Ridiculous! I was pissed and threatened to just go to Celcom if I can't get it from Maxis. They gave in, but told me that I probably had to wait for another 2 weeks since priority is given to those who order the contract package.
Honestly speaking, BB is NOT that popular yet, compared to iPhone. I doubt that they actually have to wait that long. It turned out to be true. After I paid the deposit and filled in the form to switch from my current Prepaid to Postpaid, they told me I could probably get my Bold in 2 days time. In hindsight, I think they probably gave in because I refused to start my Postpaid and BIS package until I actually hold the Bold in my hands.
So, lesson to learn, don't be a push over. They sure know how to squeeze every single penny out of the consumers.
Just to share my little experience, I got my Bold from Maxis Center at KLCC, the second day when Maxis official launching Bold without contract. Everything went smooth and within half an hour, i got it without hassle.
However, the day before when i called Maxis Customer Care, no one know about the package and i told them the website URL showing the Bold without contract, then only he/she said 'argh, i see' , even their own staff was not briefed/updated with new launching.
