Is there a direct alternative to Pos Malaysia Flexipak?
We have an Ebay business and ship 150gm and 250gm Pos Malaysia Flexipaks. With tracking, the 150gm pack was RM28 to all world. When covid started, Pos Malaysia quit service 21 March and re-opened end of May, then closed again Aug 3 and still closed. And so are we.
On its website it claimed it was broke and let go 50% of its staff, but somehow found money to make a whole new website and pushed AsiaExpress courier for RM100 for a 150gm pack. I wrote to our MP to insist that the MP introduce legislation to give the international service back to the govt from HiCom since HiCom claimed it was broke and could no longer provide the service. The MP acknowledged the long letter about a month ago and said it would contact HiCom but no reply since. There is a terrible cheating being put against the public and small business that despite "covid challenges" is forcing the public to switch its own high-profit service where there seems to be NO covid or financial challenges!
Meantime, other Ebay sellers were continuing to sell online, switching from Flexipak to ________?? The shipping charges are only RM15 from Malaysia to US for 150gm! One seller is RM12! How are they doing that? I wrote to sellers but no replies.
Checking prices from Singapore Post, I see prices are very cheap and thats how at least some people are shipping now. I wrote to Singapore Post to ask how small business was using Singapore Post from Malaysia and SP didnt have a clue. The clue is that sellers are running over the bridge from JB and mailing, or sellers are sending to someone in SG who then re-mails at a SP office.
Currently, I am trying to get SP to open a method of courier straight to them from Malaysia. I am also writing to the Universal Postal Union to complain about HiCom because I believe that member countries have to provide a low cost method for "international small parcels" and HiCom is violating that by using the excuse of Covid to force people into high cost services in which Covid is suddenly not a problem at all!
But we still need a solution. I have been checking all known couriers on the planet and all are high cost from Malaysia to any destination, between RM100 and RM400 for small packs. JNT, GDexpress, FedEx, all of the locals have a method but all are high cost if you are a low-volume shipper. Other couriers from China deliver here but do not pick up for other destinations.
Are any of you selling online for international? How are you doing it at low cost?
