How can we control the resale value if the dealer when NAZA is giving big discount from time to time.

For example, one may buy a car in 2008 at RM80K. Then in 2009, NAZA give discount for a same model new car selling at RM72K. Who wants to buy a 2nd car of year 2008 where ppl can buy a new car at the same price. Unless the year 2008 is selling way below, RM66K. This is a big lost to the owner, 1 year old car depreciate more than RM14K.

This has happen to Spectra, Spectra 5, Ria, Citra, Bestari and so on.

So, if NAZA still pratices such business ecthics then KIA has no hope of developing in Msia. Better KIA change the dealership to another company.

this bro(below) tell u..actually buyer control resale value...if the car sale well, NAZA will not try to reduce the price & big2 discount...
actually i been learn it from economy subject..hehe

QUOTE(titarium @ Oct 13 2009, 11:00 AM)
Resell value actually more of a demand & supply story....

IF and only if this FORTE really did sell well , eventually NAZA stocks will run low they don't need to slash discount just to clear old stock. Then slowly the value will have a better position.

IF the out come is buyer are still in favor of other brands, but Naza have stock up because they need to meet Annual Order from Kia, just to keep his dealership on contract. Then when warehouse quite pack d they will just throw price.....

The only chance I see Honda & Toyota will throw price is when they launch a new model I wouldn't say throw but was quite a big discount, I was offer the old city with up to 5k discount when the new one was launched.

When there's more of a typical model on the road eventually there will be ppl bring in more parts, bigger quantity cheaper price ......

Do you know for a 2nd hand Merc is easier to maintain compare to BMW ? because the numbers of Merc on the road and the year of dominance of market in that category. Well this info was given by Seniors who like to purchase or trade 2nd hand car..... either way a 2nd hand Merc is quite worthwhile to buy because of the body built, engine, and 2nd hand depreciation % is lower for car which are pre-owned compare to fresh new ..... but you must be able to maintain it.

I think I took it too far lets come back to KIA FORTE !!!
I really do look forward for this but currently I am having a Forte vs City thingy going on, very much the decision will be made after the AFTA announcement, with condition of getting a 2010 car by 1st quarter 2010.

Most ppl are guessing that Naza will Launch it after AFTA, with a firm price segment but be caution as insider news are out saying that new buyer might be having a car which is manufactured / delivered to Malaysia on the 1st or 2nd quarter 2009.

btw rm82k is not bad price actually...but wait for rebagded lancer for future waja also... smile.gif

Kia Forte 1.6 EX = RM75800
Kia Forte 1.6 (High Spec) = RM81800

2.0 is mivec rite? Hope they gonna launch forte coupe after that, maybe cheaper with 2.0l engine, ..

but y 93k i think its expensive for a KIA brand, they need to get a lot of sales first so ppl perception change, i think that is a very bad move. once changed , they can sell it at higher price on par with honda/toyota coz the quality is the same.

maybe lose now but win later never cross their mind? If they deduct 10k from the prices i believe it gonna sells like pisang goreng. lol.

At price about 93k definitely is not very expensive as the size of the car is same as civic/altis.
With the engine is a GEMA engine. It is consider way better then the japanese, just the problem is that how would the spec and quality of finishing looks like. I'm always been waiting for the 2.0 kia forte, last time when I heard they will just intro 1.6, it really gives me a crash of hope as I'm eagerly looking forward for the 2.0 version. Don't know how true the news will be but this definitely a good rumours.. rclxms.gif

All forte Engine comes with CVVT IIRC, 1.6 for sure... 2.0 not that sure. that exactly happened here in SG, where SX started from 46k and its now 58K!! COE apart, those early starter actually could sell their car without loss (to body value) after 6 months. haaa.

Well..the i30 priced here is ridiculous..at seeing at 93k for the most basic spec..it's definitely not worth it =/

but i guess many wont says that is crazy for Vios / City? haaaa.... that the funny part of branding image.. (i must say they are very successful)... just like ppl is willing to spend >100 for a branded designer t-shirt (where the designer self never design...) but says main stream t-shirt brands crazy at that price.. haaa...

think i30 is very intended for Conti market... so they never intend to price it lower.. here in sg to.. i30 is as ex as many jap brands...

Coming to that, think kimchi brands is doing the right thing to isolate certain model for Europe market to make its reputation and success...
and later Asia will sure follow (that the market trend).. by then.. we will sure... waaaa..... its i30 etc.. drool.gif

haaa.. yup.. know of this but really nothing much on the luxury then full specs car..

basically

1. GPS -> local ad offer this with item below at 1.5k (touch screen..) on the clock area.
2. Reverse Camera -> as above..
3. Flip key -> push button
4. Blue-Tooth control on steering-wheel -> that standard on eu/ us version...
5. The card slot for their HI-PASS (our ERP equivalent) is behind the Rear View mirror. -> Country specific..and that it comes with reverse monitor..??? i like this!
so... really.. i think that dun deserve the "luxury" dun even see.. exclusive trimming / woodgrains.. etc.. on it.. shakehead.gif

haaa.. but nice afterall...la...

that is why... ppl then to overpay and still think its well worth the $$$, as long as one is happy can oredi.. i think... icon_rolleyes.gif

Probably not.

Even the SX 2.4L available in North America comes with a 5 speed auto only, although there is a 6 speed manual.

I don't get what you mean due to your sentence structure.

I understand the second part regarding selling it at a higher price that is same as the Japs. But it doesn't support your claim in the first line that '93K for a Kia is expensive', considering that the equivalent Japs are going for an extra 20K.

My comparison regarding the Jazz's price wasn't particularly directed to you, no offence intended - it's merely reflecting how the majority cringe about paying 90K for Hyundais/Kias but doesn't mind forking out more for lower segment Japs.
