got my lens repaired in Bernard's shop. i was standing beside Bernard and watching him repair it. no problem until now.. so far..

heard someone said he does repair ylod, only with general repairs, if mobo problem. sorry lo.. i think need to get a new set.

spent 3 hrs to get to his shop from melaka, 3 hrs at his place, lunch, repair, testing, waiting for bus home and another 3 hrs to reach my house sad.gif

carrying a 5kg++ machine with backpack is not fun and tiring.. sad.gif

very fast.. around 15 minutes to change a lens.

the old lens he gave me back.. i took it apart to investigate it and do some short analysis.. the analysis is within this thread itself..

since all this while u hang. i m guessing is ur Hard disk faulty.. my suggestion. go to the shop and get a replacement... ASAP!

the one on the left supposed to be the good lens and the one on the right supposed to be the bad lens

unfortunately.. my ps3 first lens, is the one on the right.

i supposed i was conned when the my first lens was replaced with the low quality lens and was sold to me sad.gif

place that can order the lens and do it yourself http://www.alibaba.com/ and http://www.laser-hl.com/products.php?sort1=7

i dunno the reliability of this lens and i am pretty sure most console technician out there get their supplies from this website.

the metal plate below the PS3 is very hot.. my guess at peak is around 50-60C.

my ps3 : before it was sold..

problem: dying lens..

no u cant i think..

each ps3 data is unique with the ps3 itself.. it's not possible to backup i think .. however, the contents that u buy from PSN can be transfered if u redownload.

videos/music/picture wise has no restrictions

there was NEVER an add on acc from SONY to cool down your PS3..

those was created by third parties...

if got, please let me know the full url to the page saying SONY created those..

the FAN does not help much .. it actually blocks some air flow.. smile.gif

optimum solution for avoiding YLOD :

1. Stop posting in this sub forum smile.gif
2. Sell your PS3 and anything related to it.
3. Add a website filter which blocks any website with the word Playstation 3 or PS3 .

lol.


the number of YLODs scares me, eventhough i do not own one, yet.

still waiting for the same game on PS3 to have a better frame rate and graphic than on a pc with max settings.. waiting for , hopefully PS3 slim too.
