Will need a lot of "leg zoom" if you were to use 35mm alone.
QUOTE(calvin_gsc @ Jul 6 2009, 11:08 AM)
I wouldn't stick to just one lens for a wedding. This lens would be a good addition. But I think you'd be using the wideangle most of the time.

Not only the number of points but the system of the D300 itself is different from D90 and D5000.

Good for you rclxms.gif Anyway your D5000 does look much bigger now. So I see that this model (Meike) which is for D40/D60 can also be used for D5000.

Added on July 14, 2009, 9:02 pmTamron uses what is known as a "Micro" motor which is a small "screwdriver" type motor to turn the gears whereas Nikon and Canon "ring-type" ultrasonic motors are much faster. Sigma.. it depends on which lens.
QUOTE(alpha_company @ Jul 14 2009, 12:23 AM)
i sold off the tamron 1750 2.8 because the af speed was not up to my expectations. it's also noisier than older version.

The older tamron 1750 2.8 without built in AF motor focuses faster on nikon bodies that has af motor like d80/d90 etc.

You may say that AF-S lenses like 18-55 has built in af motor like the new Tamron 1750 too but Nikon AF-S & Sigma HSM lenses are high quality af motor with much lower AF noise and much faster focus speed.

If I want to get a normal f2.8  lens, i would go for the older tamron 1750 without built-in af motor (no new stock already) OR the newer Sigma 18-50 f2.8 HSM.

Yes... with SB-600 and grip also I find my D40 heavy. So I guess with the 900 should be heavier.

It's old tech.. but it is in the class of it's successor the D300. So.. it's D200 vs D90 in price now.
QUOTE(alpha_company @ Jul 18 2009, 08:03 AM)
saw a NEW d200 body only rm3K... expensive considering it's old tech already...the only good thing comparing d200 VS d90/d5000 is that d200's body is weather sealed and made of magnesium alloy.

It may not be a firmware problem. Maybe just some incompatible or defective components. But it is good that Nikon is working towards fixing the problem.
QUOTE(jsc_tidus @ Jul 19 2009, 08:55 PM)
i wonder why they didn't just fix it with a new firmware rather than sending to service center.. maybe its hardware-related problem..  sweat.gif

From the rumoured specs... the D3000 should be much better than the D60. New 5 point AF, New 12MP sensor, Live View. Kit Lens should be the same.

The D60 should come with the 18-55VR lens which is a standard zoom lens. That should be wide enough for most uses unless you want to go for "super" wide which RM 2000 should be able to get you a Sigma 10-20 HSM or Tamron 10-24. Wide converters as far as I know are more suitable for camcorders not SLR cameras as there will be a compromise in quality and bad barrel distortion.
QUOTE(angelicscars @ Jul 28 2009, 09:35 PM)
I'm planning to buy a wide lens for my D60. I don't really know much about buying lens. Could you guys help me in deciding which to buy?

Camera: D60 (So I'd need an AF-S lens)
Type of photography: Events, fashion.
Budget: <RM2000 (Is that even possible?)
Condition of lens: New or used
And, if I use a wide converter, do I get the same effect as the actual wide lens?

D3000 is successor to D60 a cut down D5000. D5000 around RM 3k... I would guess D3000 should be around RM 2.4K (around D40 launching price).
QUOTE(alpha_company @ Jul 29 2009, 11:45 AM)
yeah.. want to know about this too...

d3000 is the successor to what model?

Added on July 29, 2009, 11:50 am

if shashinki.com is staing rm960, then you could easily find other shops that sell at prices that are in the range of rm8xx-9xx

If you get 18-105 that means you can sell your kit lens. If you get 55-200 then you keep your kit lens and use the 55-200 for longer range shooting.
QUOTE(kc7443 @ Jul 29 2009, 02:24 PM)
I m looking for a new lense for my D60.

The lense is basically is meant for portrait, landscape and event (minimal).

Considering Nikon 18-105mm and 55-200mm. I think the price range for new one is below RM1100.

Pls advise.

VR is with Vibration Reduction. ED II is the older version without Vibration Reduction surely VR is better.

From the looks of the specs and the 11 point AF system it is a D80 which has been cut down to a D40 body. No live view too. 35mm 1.4 I think might not be within this year. Very likely with a full upgrade (maybe D400).

General_Nic... why selling your Meike grip ? I thought you just bought it.
QUOTE(General_Nic @ Jul 30 2009, 01:48 PM)
biggest feature of D3000 is the guide mode
making it the easiest Nikon DSLR to use
dunno actually useful or not  tongue.gif

btw, got any news about Nikkor AF-S 35mm f/1.4G coming soon?
