18-105 and its predecessor 18-135 are sharp at most of the focal lengths. 18-105 has improved on the wide end (less distortion). Anyway..... let's not forget 1 x 18-200VR can buy 3 X 18-105VR (almost).
QUOTE(KTCY @ Jun 22 2009, 05:59 PM)
18-105 VR is sharp. 18-200 very soft to my liking.
Seriously, there is different. Very obvious different. Try go play and see the result smile.gif

Current price (Ipoh) RM 850 fast AF, sharp and nice smooth bokeh. A very useful range to have. My - opinion... if you have the budget ... grab it!! Hard to get a lens like this at this price.
QUOTE(edministrator @ Jun 22 2009, 08:18 PM)
can advise on the current pricing and a bit of review on the lens, pls? wanna grab one, thanks  thumbup.gif

Anyway.... I got one PE-201C used flash with auto f-stops for RM 60. Using it for more than a year already. Maybe I got lucky.
QUOTE(KTCY @ Jun 23 2009, 10:06 PM)
Never, I repeat NEVER buy 2nd flash.
You never know how previous owner torture the flash and the bulb might burn anytime.

Space for RAW is the problem for most of us I guess. Imagine over the next 2 years if we upgrade to newer models with higher megapixels.
QUOTE(alpha_company @ Jun 26 2009, 03:21 AM)
the prob with raw is that it takes a lot of space in my HDD..so  later if got time need to final edit most of the raw files and save in jpeg..

Should be around RM 3000 for D90 and 2500 for D5000. If you don't have older lenses without motor both these cameras can Auto focus.
QUOTE(samyueru @ Jun 28 2009, 01:09 PM)
D5000..and D90..since i consider it have build in auto focus motor..for body only..

Added on June 28, 2009, 1:30 pmAI and AI-S lenses are manual focus lenses with a computer chip in them.
QUOTE(alpha_company @ Jun 28 2009, 12:00 PM)
if ai lens mount on d80 can it AF? i know AF lenses can af on d80 body but ai older right?

I agree with that thumbup.gif a speedlight SB-600 really opens up a totally different world of shots. With a speedlight/flash.... we can take pics even if the lighting conditions are not so favourable.
QUOTE(kevyeoh @ Jun 29 2009, 10:16 AM)
get d40 and use the savings to buy flash... damn bloody important if you want nice shots....
even if you're a newbie like me...got flash gun...cukup to cari makan already...

Hmmm .... a jump from D40 to D90 will open more possibilities..... and better image quality. Anyway even if I upgrade... I will very likely keep my D40 as a spare body. In fact... I'm looking at the D90 too but waiting for a price drop.
QUOTE(pleasuresaurus @ Jun 29 2009, 08:29 PM)
Purchased the D90 body from Click & Snap in Penang, although i probably could've gotten it cheaper elsewhere. Sorry aa guys, tiba-tiba got D90 racuning in D40/D40x/D60/D5000 thread  biggrin.gif
I was a D40 user myself, before upgrade complete.

70-200VR f2.8 is indeed a great lens. Anyway... optically... the 70-210 f4-5.6 isn't that far behind for a fraction of the cost.
QUOTE(pleasuresaurus @ Jun 30 2009, 10:05 AM)
The Nikkor 70-200 2.8 VR is an awesome lens no doubt. Optics, speed, performance, build. U should get it if u got the chance. Definitely not for poor mortals like me who can't afford the price tag  cry.gif .

Pretty good...... but have to get it cleaned from fungus then only can really test it out. The push-pull zoom does need some getting used to.
QUOTE(aaron1kee @ Jun 30 2009, 12:11 PM)
How does the 70-210 fare in your opinion? I have one but seldom use it.

There is a possiblilty that it is real. Anyway... if you look on the right side... it is smaller and narrower than the D5000. With the D60 and D40 being phased out a D3000 should be a good replacement... but I hope no more 3-point AF sensor.

Should be.. not likely that Nikon will use back the older generation CCD sensors. Maybe they decided to call it D3000 so that later they can come up with a D4000 (like D40 and D40X).
QUOTE(aaron1kee @ Jun 30 2009, 09:09 PM)
Should be a mark down of D5000

If you don't have a system. Either one will do. Depends on whether you like Canon or Nikon.

Not really...as price range a few hundred RM difference (body to body) between D90 and D5000. D5000 is already a step higher than the D40/60 like the D50 was to the D70. 500D is also in about the same price range of the D5000. It's like.... lower end body + extra lens vs higher end body pricing.
QUOTE(illegaldragon87 @ Jul 1 2009, 11:34 AM)
if u r going to compare D5000 with D90/500D/450D, i think itz totally unfair...  thr r actually in different level... D5000 is the entry-level DSLR which falls into the D40/40x/60 category...

i think itz not necessary for u to compare D5000 if u can afford to buy D90/450D/500D... jus buy D90/500D/450D if u got enough budget...  smile.gif

Maybe he knows that there is a D400 coming up soon or a D700 price drop... so change to D5000 temporarily until he can change to any of these.
