18-105 and its predecessor 18-135 are sharp at most of the focal lengths. 18-105 has improved on the wide end (less distortion). Anyway..... let's not forget 1 x 18-200VR can buy 3 X 18-105VR (almost).

Current price (Ipoh) RM 850 fast AF, sharp and nice smooth bokeh. A very useful range to have. My - opinion... if you have the budget ... grab it!! Hard to get a lens like this at this price.

Space for RAW is the problem for most of us I guess. Imagine over the next 2 years if we upgrade to newer models with higher megapixels.

Should be around RM 3000 for D90 and 2500 for D5000. If you don't have older lenses without motor both these cameras can Auto focus.

Hmmm .... a jump from D40 to D90 will open more possibilities..... and better image quality. Anyway even if I upgrade... I will very likely keep my D40 as a spare body. In fact... I'm looking at the D90 too but waiting for a price drop.

70-200VR f2.8 is indeed a great lens. Anyway... optically... the 70-210 f4-5.6 isn't that far behind for a fraction of the cost.

There is a possiblilty that it is real. Anyway... if you look on the right side... it is smaller and narrower than the D5000. With the D60 and D40 being phased out a D3000 should be a good replacement... but I hope no more 3-point AF sensor.

Not really...as price range a few hundred RM difference (body to body) between D90 and D5000. D5000 is already a step higher than the D40/60 like the D50 was to the D70. 500D is also in about the same price range of the D5000. It's like.... lower end body + extra lens vs higher end body pricing.
QUOTE(illegaldragon87 @ Jul 1 2009, 11:34 AM) if u r going to compare D5000 with D90/500D/450D, i think itz totally unfair... thr r actually in different level... D5000 is the entry-level DSLR which falls into the D40/40x/60 category... i think itz not necessary for u to compare D5000 if u can afford to buy D90/450D/500D... jus buy D90/500D/450D if u got enough budget... |

Maybe he knows that there is a D400 coming up soon or a D700 price drop... so change to D5000 temporarily until he can change to any of these.
