It looks like mini VGA socket, works exactly the same as component. PA are selling these for PS3 and Wii, can take a look. The reason I'm getting one is because I'm going to use it for an upscaler instead of directly to the TV.

I got a gamecube (platinum edition). Anyone interested in it? Just give me a price. I may let it go. Since I got a Wii already I dont see the point of having it. The only catch is all my 4 controllers my 40 games is not for sale. laugh.gif

Smash bros melee is still the best game on the GC.

I am a proud owner of gamecube too. Bought a second hand unit and 6 games from a forummer not so long ago.

The games i have:

1. Metroid Prime
2. Metroid Prime 2
3. Zelda Windwaker
4. Zelda Twilight princess
5. Paper Mario
6. Eternal Darkness

Currently playing metroid prime. I have to say this is the best FPS game i have played to date, even after playing Doom 3, Dead Space, Halo 1 and 2, Half life 1 and 2, Fear.

A proud GameCube owner here as well. I have 2 now. I bought the 2nd one when my 1st died on me. Currently looking for anyone who can fix my first one as it has the component cable output (which makes it better) unlike my 2nd one which doesn't.

Some of the games I own:

The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem
Star Fox Assault

Hi... fellow PAL Cube owner here. Not too many games though, as I stopped playing for some time. Itching to start again now. smile.gif

- Legend Of Zelda: Windwaker
- Metroid Prime
- Super Mario Sunshine

Demothrax, are you interested in letting go of ED (Eternal Darkness, not erectile dysfunction!)? PM me if you are.

On a somewhat related question, does anyone know if the PAL controller and memory card region-locked? I mean, if I buy a US GC title to play on US Wii, does that mean my PAL controller and memory card is unusable?

US and PAL can share memory card no problem, but need different card for Japanese games' saves. There's no region lock for the controllers though, nothing to worry.

I'm a PAL Cube owner too smile.gif Playing imports through Freeloader. And to do something US/JP Cubes can't do, I utilize the RGB (not component) output brows.gif But US/JP Cubes can output S-Video.. something PAL Cubes can't

I have my GC solely for Resident Evil games!

I wanted to get the GC component cable but since its so expensive, I wonder - if i insert the GC disc in Wii, and use Wii component output to display the GC game, will the effect be the same?

if the "effect" you are talking about refers to Progressive Scan mode then the answer is YES.

btw, make sure your TV can support progressive scan too. Just the cable alone won't be sufficient but i guess there's still a fair bit of improvement over Composite or S-Video.

if you are not too happy about jaggies though ... you might not find it an improvement ! that's because it's just that much sharper output !

I meant it had the region lock but it can be bypassed by a simple Freeloader disc, which Wii also had but disabled after a while.

There's this 2nd hand game shop here in Australia, they do sell Gamecube games (2nd hand though) for as little as $10 I think.
Do you think it's worth buying and keeping even though I don't own a Gamecube.

In the UK there used to be (still probably there) a chain called CEx... selling & exchanging used computer & video games systems, accessories and software. My favourite place in all of Oxford Street.

Wish there's something similar in Malaysia, but I guess the easy availability of *ahem* games makes for many gamers who do not value their software collection. Not all of 'em, though.

Hi everybody.
Okay, so yesterday my little brother bought a GBA SP from a store in lowyat. It's modded I guess, since it's preloaded with about 400 games inside, meaning can play without cartridge. So today I put my Pokemon Ruby cartridge inside it and it just shows a blank white screen. Is the GBA SP fake??? sad.gif
Help please, I don't know what to do... icon_question.gif

It might be possible that you got a clone GBA SP since I don't think it's possible to preload games in a original GBA SP. And BTW is your Pokemon Ruby genuine? All original GBA Pokemon games have their cartridges coloured according to their versions (Ruby uses a transparent red cartridge).

Oh my... there goes my brother's RM230! sad.gif What should I do now?

P.s: Yes my GBA cartridge is original; it works well on my GBA.

Umm... I see a triwing screw which means the unit is most likely genuine, and a flashcart has been integrated inside the unit itself. But it's possible that it also removes its ability to play cartridges. Have you tried blowing inside the slot/ cartridge or some other methods you used when the game doesn't load properly?

Think the GBA is clone one, like this one, so that explains why doesn't work well with cartridges.

But I second the suggestion to get a NDS! Not enough money can consider get the first generation of NDS(not NDSL or NDSi).

So many legacy games to finish, so little time... ED, Paper Mario, windwaker, OoT, Timesplitters 2, Geist... not to mention Wii games too. *sigh* the curse of the adult gamer.

Which version? US Snes or Pal Snes? The US one is almost impossible to find, while the Pal one you can just bring it to electronic stores and look for one (must be equal or more than 850mA)

With the Wii's perfect bakward compatibility there really is no point to hold on to a gamecube, unless you want to use it with a Gameboy Player.

Speaking of which, I've just got ahold of a Gameboy Micro (phew! finally found one for a reasonable price). Anyone else have one of these babies? They're surprisingly better than expected!

To put this in the nicest way possible,

Ebay. The website for online auctions and rare items.
goto http://www.ebay.com/
type in "game boy color battery cover"

and be prepared to pay anything from rm15 to 35 depending on how sadistic a seller you happen to meet.

There's lots of people offering paypal buying service in the Services Noticeboard section. You can ask them to buy it for you on eBay and have the item shipped to you.

Gonna merge this thread with the retro consoles/ handhelds thread after 24 hours.

As for alternatives in real physical stores, I can tell you that my hunt for a GBA battery cover in 2005 led me to the Golden Arcade in Sham Sui Po, Hong Kong. The shop was in one of the dark corners of the place, where the gutted innards of consoles past hung lazily from the ceiling. The shopkeeper was an old lady with a toothless grin and this loud grating voice.

paid about RM5.

needless to say its hard to find.

Sounds like something out of a hardboiled detective novel or a noir movie. I was expecting a blonde broad to pop out of nowhere, her eyes hidden under the shadow of the doorway that framed her, and blocking your exit.

"You're not going anywhere with that GBA battery cover," she said in a sultry voice, but it was a voice that meant business. "Not today." Her hands were holding a gun and it was pointing at you.

I'm currently scouting for old GBA titles that I have fallen in love. Playing PM's Astro Boy Omega Factor has so far been very wonderful that I think its a fantastic experience.

So, aside from Mario and Castlevania, what other great side scrollers that I can get for the GBA?

Very very very easy, the word "Nintendo" is printed on the game PCB, you can see it from the cart connector side.

Anybody know where to get a GC memory card in KL? struck out at all the game shops in MidValley yesterday.

I recently got a Wii and wanted to play some old GC games I had from my GC-owning days, but it demanded a memory card for saving games. and I'll be damned if I'm going to play The Wind Walker straight through in one sitting.XD

Hi, I've seen a couple of brand new gameboy advance sp with a 600-700myr price tag. My question is, what's the street price for these babies brand and used models?

I've googled and the results shows most 2007 and earlier prices.

Frankly speaking, the ones that I saw in my suppliers place is actually around RM 200. But i'm not sure why they are still holding back in selling them.

I really wonder.

Nah. Singapore doesn't allow them to sell. I have no idea why seriously.

Some database problem. I've been asking them to just sell it for RM 200 since last year even.

I would definitely repair it! biggrin.gif Think of it like how you would keep an old, vintage car well maintained. I don't think it would cost much (to repair the GBASP) but I'm not sure where you would find a place to repair it

Does anybody have 8bitdo 2.4GHz controller for SNES?
The real SNES, not the SNES Classic that has the Wii port.

Thanks!

Update: Never mind, 8bitdo has restocked it
